I agree...I think Hinduism is a way of life and it teaches us tolerance. I can tolerate a lot of things because of my religion only.

That is the thing. You are looking up to others and worrying of what ifs. Unless you take a stand about it and are quite vocal it will continue to happen. Why it doesnt happen in other religions because it isnt an option. But in India people are divided. People believe in different Gods and have their own belief systems which might differ from each other. One might be OK with somethign and other may not. Some will see a Mahabharat reboot as education while others will much rather just go and read it instead of watching it on TV.

Personally, I am okay. I could care less, I will simply switch off the TV if it's done in bad taste, or is crass or gives misinformation.
But, we live in a society. In Indian society - where people do get offended by certain things.

I am all for peace, at the end of the day.

Filmmakers should make movies considering people's sentiments/feelings. I mean, the world will not come to an end if you don't make a movie that might end up hurting people's sentiments.

People should also learn to either tolerate or atleast have some constructive peaceful methods of objecting.

Debating, protesting, deliberating and all are also a sign that a democracy is healthy :p ..just, don't shed blood or tears.

Peace.

Regarding double standards, I think we should be proud that Hinduism is liberal enough to allow such discourse, because the philosophies at the core of Hinduism allow for free speech and action.

But you see, then this happens. How do you deal with it? If you allow it, people will push the envelope and see how far they can get away with it.

yes this is really a big problem in india tha people are devided. Personally i dont really care about critics but when people cross line thats the problem but most of people in india too busy in their real life problems they seems to not care about these things.

It is hard to differentiate the character from the person. People are humans for a reason and Gods are Gods. It is very hard to digest somebody portraying something on the camera while they are polar opposite in real life.

hain??😲The it must be hard for you to enjoy any movie...because I don't think that actors are anything like the characters they play...atleast 99% of the times😆

I didn't particularly like Mama's Boys. I mean, I'm not a fan, but I don't see why it can't be made. It was a satirical take on the domestic situation of the Pandavas and since the Pandavas are not religious figures, I don't see it as being that serious.

As long as it doesn't incite hate or encourage discrimination, I think it's fine. This should be the parameter- does it have any real world consequences? Does it encourage violence? No. Then it's fine.

As a Hindu, I also feel that sometimes there is this fear-mongering done by political parties and other vested interests to create this image of a 'threatened majority' in India, but that's not the case.

Hinduism is a very adaptive religion, so why should we try to take offense because other people are doing the same thing?

I am ok with debating, deliberation and even questioning of faith. As that is one of the major strengths of sanatana dharma/vedic religion. What I am not ok with is mocking and the shoving of thoughts like my religion is the bestest down my throat.

Most people dont care about real life of a actor. Most people imagine dara singh as lord hanuman when they close their eyes, same is the case with other characters of ramayana and Mahabharat
