About khushi, what they did to that lovely girl later on is sacrilegious if one could use that word. Khushi in the beginning was so refreshing.

IPKKND Nostalgia: Episode 020

Khushi 2/Arnav 0

1. The result of the dictation test is kept from the viewer. We are informed of Khushi's success at the same time as Arnav is. I think this adds to our pleasure. And Lavanya's presence is imperative. Her expressions tell us what Arnav is experiencing. When Khushi reveals that she recorded the dictation on her phone, Lavanya appears mildly impressed at her resourcefulness. As is Arnav---though he would never admit it.

2. Today's challenge marks a shift in this game between Arnav and Khushi. He expected an easy early victory. A cakewalk. But she has survived two days, and I think he realizes that he will have to up his game. Yesterday he was irritated by her success. Today's success rendered him speechless. The scene of him pacing in his office suggests that he now sees her as a real adversary. And his peevishness when he goes home is another indication that he is not indifferent to the day's events.

3. Quick word on Anjali: She is genuinely well-meaning but unaware of how her Domestic Goddess-ness is contributing to the rancour between Nani and Mami. Anjali's perfect habits contrast sharply to Mami's, who is less particular. And Nani uses Anjali as the paragon bahu to needle Mami.

4. Anjali's comment that her husband is the only one who can influence Arnav adds to the anticipation of his arrival. We wonder: Who is this man? He must be amazing! Because the twenty episodes thus far have taught us that Arnav is not one who can be easily influenced. The writers are setting up the reveal of Shyam nicely.

5. Amma is a device; the writers use her to deliver unpopular truths. She's bad cop to Bawji's good cop. Bawji is an indulgent father, so as viewers we know his judgement is impaired. Amma's concern with Shyam being in the same house with her daughters is the appropriate response. Shame nobody is listening.

Truly ominous that no one pays attention to Amma's foreboding. Garima is forced to be the fly on the wall in most of these scenes with the forceful Buaji thinking she knows best. Bigger citadels have been breached, Buaji has bitter lessons coming to her. Sigh!
