It is so frustrating when you know something is missing but can't find it.
Of course garima and shashi is trying to protecting Khushi but how they can hide something big from her when she is so smart in finding with clues.
They are getting close slowly yet fooling each other. Let's see how long this game will carry on.
Thansk for another brilliant update.

RB,

Sorry to have been AWOL for a bit...just catching up on the last two...hmm, I will not say anything more about the relevance of each individual only subject to what they have to offer the world - the discussion was enlightening enough. One has to agree that this is the sad, narrow and yet realistic truth of the 21st century. Why should you matter to society unless you can give something back? This in a materialistic universe is only something to be expected. So, what happened to Arnav and what Khushi also experiences in the course of her work and feels empathetic about is actually a hard core ground reality. And of course, while we may only be relevant to society by giving back, the same is not true about our relevance to ourselves. We matter to ourselves of course and always will! So end of the existential debate there!

Now on to the crime scene investigation. Why have the two victims assumed identities and moved to the new place? What is the connection they have? Why does Garima say she knows her? Is Mrs Inder Chaya? And who is Mr. Chander? Surya with an assumed name? You know the Chand and Suraj analogy...and might also tie in with the stars...what do you think? Ahah...speculating madly here in half slumberous mode...will count on you to shine the light...almost reminds me of the poignant IPK scene...one of those rare outdoor ones where Arnav, Akash, Anjali, Shyam and Akash are talking in the verandas about the stars and how they have no light of their own...And how Arnav firmly believes it is is silly, romantic nonsense to think the stars were actually associated with love...hmm...I am on my own imaginative space in this the existential road...will wait to see you clarify...and are we any closer to the investigation at all? Hmm...waiting!

Best,

Anu

The truth can be harsh at times ... so it's best to let the past be sometimes ...
Maybe by not disclosing much about her biological parents her adoptive
parents are trying only to protect her from heart ache or disappointment ...

10: Makha: The great one

"Are you sure you don't remember Mrs. Inder?" Khushi asks Garima who is frying fritters on the stove. Khushi watches her mother carefully and catalogues her expressions. Garima doesn't falter.

"I must have seen her or someone who looks like her in passing. I think it was with your mother." Garima replies. "You don't believe me?"

Khushi shrugs and looks away from her mother. Garima notes it with a pang when she sees Chaya's resemblance in Khushi's silhouette. There is an air of detached observatory aspect to Khushi's gaze that is always assessing, analyzing and cataloguing data for future use. A muscle twitches behind her ribs when she sees Khushi get that same calculating look that Chaya sometimes did.

"Don't you?" Garima asks again.

Khushi turns to look at Garima and her face is clear again. Garima swallows an old ache that has flared up in her throat - a memory, a face. "Of course I do ma," Khushi replies.

"Okay, good." Garima says, unable to read Khushi. Khushi smiles the smile of a stranger and Garima internally panics.

"What's going on Khushi?" She asks turning off the stove.

"It was just a question Ma. With time memories degrade, people forget and things get cross wired. I am sorry if I made you think I didn't believe you in the first place." Khushi is apologetic. Garima wonders what is going on in her daughter's head at this moment.

"Is everything alright?" Garima asks after a prolonged moment of silence.

Khushi smiles the same smile that Garima cannot decipher. It makes her stomach fill with lead and heart beat faster. "It is." Khushi replies. A moment later Khushi asks. "Do you mind if you ask you something?"

Garima nods and motions her to carry on.

"Why did you and papa go to such long lengths to erase existence of Chaya?" Khushi is curious.

Garima's face falls. "What are you suggesting Khushi? Do you think we actively made sure you don't get to know your own mother? Do you consider us to be that horrible that we would devoid our own child memories of her own mother? Do you really see us this way - this couple who have some ulterior selfish motives? I...I don't know why you think this way. I thought we were doing good by you." Garima babbles.

Khushi watches her mother thoughtfully, her face not betraying any emotions. Garima wilts in that unwavering gaze and then slumps, disappointed with Khushi's accusation.

"I will be in my room." Khushi moves away from the threshold. Garima fists her fingers and controls the yell that desperately wants to escape her throat. For one horrifying moment she sees Chaya's disassociated way of looking at things in Khushi. It rattles the old memories that she and her husband had desperately buried.

"You didn't reply," Garima calls out.

Khushi turns back and looks at her mother dead in the eyes. "Neither did you." Garima's heart skips a beat.

Res res!
~Edit~

Khushi's resemblance to Chaya is almost terrifying. I cannot imagine how that would make Garima feel.

A grudge is lighter than the weight of secrets and guilt. So here while I empathise with them all, I cannot help but want to reach out to Garima first. There is always that fear - of doing something wrong, of losing your child should they choose their biologic parents over you, the fear of letting people down.

Sigh. What is right and what is wrong? Is there even a right or wrong?

Oh the pressures of wanting to do your best, protecting your loved one and curiosity. Right and wrong are always blurred but in such situations...

What was scary was the shadow of Chaya in Khushi - I mean I know Chaya is not exactly evil - but to Garima - that can be nothing short of a nightmare...Or maybe its all in the mind.

I wonder why observers scare people so...

Khushi's good at what she does because of the very same disassociated sense of looking at things; one which gives Garima the chills.

Khushi could've asked her parents this question earlier. She doesn't look like one who would hold back. Then why now?
There's something else that's also accountable for this - her sense of distrust and the feeling that not all has been revealed by her parents with regards to Chaya.

Maybe not all is out in the open, because for all Garima knew Chaya, she'd still kept secrets from Shashi and her. What can she possibly tell Khushi when there are somethings she doesn't know herself?
