As a avid reader of mythology I was always intrigued among the women of Ramayana. Because the Ramayan I have read, I have seen the strength of woman of Ramayana. Every woman was unique, so was every man. But this strength of the woman, the beauty of the love that Ramayan encompasses had never really come on the screen.
Ramayan is a story that should give you inner peace. Irrespective of the turmoils Ram-Sita faces in their life, their story somewhere lights a lamp inside you. It's a story that can read and re-read yet your thirst for it is unquenched. I have read numerous fiction, watched love stories but Ramayana stands as the eternal love story. The story of a man who lifted the Shiv Dhanush to win the lady's hand, story of a man who crossed the ocean and fought a war to get back his lady love and story of a man who didn't bend to the system and remained loyal to his life partner even under extreme cirumstances and the story of a woman who left the luxury of the palace to follow his dharma, who only had him in his mind in the most hostile environment of Lanka and a woman who irrespective of what the society did to her never failed as a mother and a queen that is Ramayan. It is the story of a woman's love and faith and man's determination to give his loved one the exalted position in the society.
And SKR it captures exactly this essence. It shows the journey of each individual woman of Ramayana. From Shanta, Kausalya, Kaikeyi, Sumitra, Sita, Sunaina, Chandrabagha, Urmila, Mandavi, Kirti, Roma, Tara, Mandodari, Ahalya, Gargi, Maithreyi, Sulochana , Kaikasi and Surpi. Each woman unique and through their journey shows the greatness of Sita.
Similarly each man is etched beautifully through the eyes of the woman. Dasrath, Ram, Lakshman, Bharath, Shatrughnan, Sugreev, Bali, Ravan, Meghandh, Janak, Kushadwaj.
What makes the portrayal of men beautiful. Because every man is seen through the eyes of the woman so it shows not only her strength, but his conflicts also, which is so much needed in this times and age.
And above all SKR gives me that which everyone requires after a tiring day at work. A kind of mental peace which unfortunately you don't get if you open the idiot box. So Kudos to SKR team and all actors for the brilliant screenplay, direction and performance. Happy to be part of the journey
