PART 7
4 years later. Siddhant was super excited. Finally he has achieved his goal. Today, is the day he's gonna take charge as commissioner of police in Delhi. This was his long cherished dream. And today, he will fulfill another long cherished dream; the dream of meeting Roli again. Of asking her hand for marriage. These 4 years had not decreased his love to a bit, instead that was strengthened. They say minds move apart when distance comes in between. But this was not the case of him. E has not spent a single night without dreaming his pretty girl. He was fantasizing in fact. How she'd look after these four years...How she would react on seeing him again. He was sure she'd cry. She's such a baby. But this side of hers was something that he fell for. Distance had kept them apart for sure, but not their hearts. He opened his wardrobe and looked at the sarees that he had brought for her. She'd look like an angel in these clothes, h e thought. He opened a draw took out a mangalsutra and vermillion box which he had bought for her. "Roli...soon...I'll make you wear all these symbols of my love towards you...these would connect us in the unbreakable bond of marriage and love which would stay alive for all our lives...My dream is to see you as my wife, by life...: he said caressing the mangalsutra and keeping them back. Today he will go to her house again. He wore his well pressed shirt and jeans and looked himself in the mirror. Crazy was he. Was he behaving too girly? He doubted, but everything, the Roli effect. He took his car key and started towards Roli's locality.
Sid stopped the car near Roli's house. Over the years, it had changed in a pretty good way. The traditional look had vanished to thin air and it reflected the extravagance of contemporary style. Maybe they felt like modifying it, thought Sid as he got down the car. The day was too sunny, he kept his sunglasses on. His heart started beating fast. Somewhere he felt that something has gone wrong. But he shoved off the inner voice. How on earth can things go wrong now? Now this was the time for everything to be perfect. He opened the gate and entered in. with high and rapid heartbeats, he pressed the doorbell. He was expecting his Roli to open the door with a pleasant smile. He fidgeted on the grills of the sit out waiting for the door to open. Te dir opened and Sid looked at the open door with longing eyes. But a different face appeared on the doorstep. A lady, looking rather ugly in her ultra thin frame and grass like hair. Sid was confused, yet thought to clear. "The Dwivedi's???" asked him. "no...This is not the Dwivedi's house...it's ours now...The Dwivedi's are no longer staying here now..."said the lady rather unpleasantly. Sid was more confused now. "But..." Sid begun when a tall man may be late forties entered the sit out. He had a villain look primarily, with a shabby beard. "Who are you???' asked the man like thundering. "Siddhant...Siddhant Bharadwaj...commissioner of police, Delhi...i came to meet the Dwivedi's..."said Sid. The man and lady looked each other bit tensed. Sid was feeling something fishy in it. Now their expressions changed, from arrogance to respect and sweetness which seemed too much and bit fake. "Come in Sir..." said the man. Sid entered removing hi shoes. The man and lady followed him with a kind of pissed expressions. "Sit..." said the lady trying to be maximum polite. Sid looked around to see if his Roli was in, but he could hardly get that feeling. "I came to meet the Dwivedi's...Where are they?" asked Sid. "Dwivedi's???" asked the man doubtfully. "Yeah...I'm Roli's friend...I came to meet her and her parents..." said him. The man expressed sadness over his face. "What to say to you now sir...I'm Rajveer...Meena's brother and this my wife Maya...We're very sad...but what to do with fate...Meena and Jamnalal passed away in a accident 2 and half years ago..." Sid was almost shaken by words. Roli's parents are no more? Means..Where is Roli? "Where is Roli?" asked Sid
panicky. He wanted to hear that she's safe... "Roli...We were taking care of her very well...And last year, she got married...married to good traditional, cultural boy settled in America...She's very happy...going to have a baby in next September..." said the lady. Sid felt like the floor under him eroding. Roli; married? How is that possible? No...She won't marry anyone...She's his..how can she? And she's happy? How come? Did she actually forget him? Was she the same Roli he met, was she the same girl whom he loved? Was she the same girl who cried when he was about to part with her? "What happened sir?" asked Rajveer. "Nothing? Roli is married?" asked Sid again. "Ya...she's married...The girl is too happy...That's our pleasure...he's keeping her like princess..." said Rajveer Sid was totally lost now. He got up all in a swift way. "Sir...are you leaving? A cup of coffee..."said Maya. "No...It's okay...i got work..."said Sid as he walked out. Maya and Rajveer watched him with a clever smile on their lips.
Siddhant's vision blurred with tears as he drove the car. His heart was broken. Seemed that it had stopped beating. She was his heartbeat. And she...he remembered all those moment with her. Her shyness, pleasance, smile. How she used to depend him for every single and small thing. How she asked him will he forget her? And indeed she was the one he forget him. In an angle he was responsible for all these mishaps. If he had confessed his feelings to her 4 years back, then nothing like this would have happened. She would have been his. But now, his Roli, she is no longer his. Someone else had owned her. And besides, she is carrying the symbol of someone's love. He cried...Cried aloud parking the car in a lonely area. All the memories came as a line. Enough...enough of all these. Damn his hesitation to confess, he has lost his life. But now, he don't have anyone...Anyone to love, anyone to care. The thousand dreams that he had made is no more worth. Now he have only one goal. Excel in his profession, protect law and justice. No girl ahs place in his life. No emotions would control him now. Now everyone will see the robotic Siddhant Bharadwaj.
