These discussions are going no where. I can't repeat what I have said so many times. I would like to add that maybe I was expecting kiran's character to be somewhat inspirational. Taking a stand for herself and everyone trying to bring her down But she is no where near what I expected and hence the disappointment. When people originally saw the drama I guess they were not expecting anything.
And parents raising their hands on children is a different issue though I don't support that either but still parents position is above us. Whereas our husband is our partner and hence he is our equal. So even when one can take a slap from parents but not from their husbands.

The fact that it raises debate ITSELF SHOWS that umera Ahmed cudnt properly show how talaaq is justified here
Coz those who question the talaaq they r accused to siding with domestic violence which is NOT the case

But then the discussions go on in circles

If the evilness from the hubby n the retaliation of the wife was properly shown then I we all wud if been applauding the show and writer n support the divorce United

But inspire of being gals we can't support the divorce here given in our religion it's the last option

But here it's shown as the first option

And even when kiran started living with the cousin guy after the wedding n do all housechores like a servant n listening to the in laws taunts and used to hv flashbacks how she used to live with sikandar like a queen..I felt like saying to her...aur talaaq karo. ...serves u right woman

OK since everyone is ranting I might as well give my 2 cents worth on this.😉😆
I was really excited to watch this show primarily for 2 reasons. 1 it was an Umera Ahmed show and 2. it was one of the shows that was always recommended and considered one of the best Pak dramas. So when it was finally aired on Zindagi I had decided to watch this drama, but was unable too and finally started watching it online.

I in fact have just started episode 7 and I doubt I'll be continuing with the drama and till where I have watched Kiran and Sikander havent even married yet. But the show is simply going in a loop with Arzoo being angry with Sikander and Kiran,Arzoo's mom being a vamp, Ruksaar cribbing abt her in-laws,Ruksaar's mom being helpless Erum not able to get married, Sikander going to every level to emotionally blackmail his mother and Kiran crying herself hoarse abt not wanting to marry Sikander.

Also Sikander's character till now is so vague. The whole thing abt him wanting to marry Kiran does not make much sense. Just a couple of things he heard from Arzoo and having a chat with her once in a wedding makes him fall for her so badly that he's going to every level to compel his mom to repeatedly ask Kiran's family for her hand? I didn't expect this from a Pak drama, much less a UA one. It's all the more ironic as from what I am reading he later humiliates Kiran for her background and her family? When he knew beforehand the family she belonged too, so Y was he so adamant on marrying her, especially after being refused?

Kiran too till now comes across as self centered and careless abt ppl around her which seems to be the case with her even after she gets married it seems.

Anyways I am done with this drama and as for UA, I guess she too was constrained by commercial considerations and its not surprising that she has stopped writing dramas for TV as I think it's not the first time she was compelled to compromise, or her work got distorted on TV without her consent.

BTW I checked the Kankar thread when Kankar was aired the first time and den too ppl were divided, from the comments I read there. Someone had in fact posted tht the actor who play's Kiran's mother herself had said that Kiran should not have divorced Sikander, so obviously there were conflicting views then too as they r now.
DISCLAIMER: I haven't watched the drama so can't comment on whether Kiran was right or wrong for going for the divorce. I just mentioned dis coz this was a point of contention when the drama was aired the first time too and not only now when it's being aired on Zindagi.

Good thing that you are not watching this show. This is my last comment on this thread because since I have stopped watching it so no need to come here.
It's such a pathetic show. Just 10 minutes before the climax Kiran slaps Sikender ( who is telling her how much he still loves her etc ) and tells him to improve otherwise his son will grow up to be like him too and upon hearing this Sikender feels bad and he sudhrofies. That's it...kiran could have done this earlier before getting divorced...what was the need for all this drama.
Bottom line is that UA has not been able to justify domestic violence ...its forced on the audience and that's why so many are not in favour of Kiran.

Ok everyone bye from me as well.

@KHAMOSH...WATCH THE FULL SHOW
WHATEVER VAGUE U R FINDING WILL BE ANSWERED

epi 7 is too early to leave and show and rant about it

A lot of things happen after that

And yes there r a few filler scenes ...u can just forward them

And inspite of all the discussions and fights I wud STILL say kankar is VERY MUCH WORTH WATCHING TILL THE END

I got curious and checked the Kankar thread on the other forum as I was not there at the time when Kankar was airing. Ohh myy and what a difference! I was like why was I not there...that thread has everything what I feel and almost from everyone. There are only one or two dissenting voices and even their opinion shows more sensitivity towards this issue. I wish everyone here could read the thread

@Munira Di, @Abby @WhiteMagic Thank You ladies for bringing up worthy points that crossed my mind too.👏👏👏
And I for one, at least don't need to go across any thread to look at someone else's POV. I have my own and will share that no matter how "disturbing" they mignt sound to others.

First and Foremost, None of us support domestic violence or being in an abusive relationship or Sikander. But the fact is we just can't support Kiran cuz she's the lead who suffers domestic abuse cuz of the fact that we are women. I'm sorry to say that I don't know for others but I'm not an ardent feminist.

Like someone mentioned that despite Kiran being flawed, one expected her to be iconic. No one is a saint here nor is Kiran but somehow she fails to evoke any sympathy to the viewer. Everyone forms an expectation from the show on the basis of promos. They way they were aired I for one thought that she'll be one strong woman standing up for her rights but here it fails badly.

Umera Ahmed has her way of beautifully portraying complex characters but in this she fails miserably. Thank god that she's not writing anymore for TV.

@Munira Di I agree that it has become repetitive. Not only Episode 7, but now too things are shown in a loop.

Anyways, I'm done with the show. This will be my last post on the thread as I had high expectations from it being a UA Drama but this show falls flat and is underwhelming despite of all the hype created.

Thanks. 😊

I do Not need to go to other threads . I have an opinion and it stays the way it is. The way we watch and the way it's watched when it's airing is very different so can not be compared.
What was the purpose of this show if in the end just by one dialogue and slap of Kiran's Sikender is reformed ? Now it will be back to square one. They are from the same family and everyone will know that after initial hiccups Sikender and Arzoo are leading a very happy married life. This feeling that "Kiran could have had this life" will always be there in Kiran's parents mind whenever they will see Sikender and Arzoo. If the writer wanted to portray it as domestic violence then she shouldn't have reformed Sikender at the drop of a hat. Another thing is , Adnan was not that great a husband too. He couldn't take a stand for Kiran in front of his mom or sis. Initial teething problems are always there in any marrige but you don't seek divorce just like that without giving your marrige a chance. What Adnan did could also be viewed as domestic violence because watching your wife getting insulted by your sis and mom and NOT saying anything is form of domestic violence too. The characterisation of everyone in this show is pretty bad. No one invokes sympathy and neither do they invoke your hatred.
The ending of this show ( I just watched it on you tube ) is horrible. Just one slap and one liner is enough to reform Sikender, lol .

Adios every one. This was my last post on this thread.
