WEN WE THINK OF SAAWARIYA, the first thing that comes to my mind is SLB! I knw we r sona-bir fans bt if it this movie was not directed by SLB i bet yu all we wud hav noticed our two cuties!!!and wudnt hav gone nuts abt them! it is all becoz of the todays finest filmmaker SLB that we got our sona-bir!!!and saawairya!

nw why i am writing this all of sudden? well i am bored!!

wat is cinema? wat r movies ? is cinema only the means of entertainment?? if entertainemnt was the soul motive then we hav daily sopas , sports and outings to entertain us!!

for me movies hav got completely diffent meaning for me movies are the source through which we land up into some diffent world!!
now different world can hav many interpretations!movies r not only about making ppl laugh or cry or fall in love!! movies r the source through wich we exchange our culture we see literature and we spread our messages!

now what do i mean by seeing literature/>?we how the visual medium came up!! earlier it was al writing and ppl started enacting the stories written and thats how the wholw visual medium came up!! ppl wanted to interpretate wats written through their own body language! so movies r the medium through which we see literature!
i am bengali girl and being bengali i read so many gr88 literature works by rabindranath tagore , sharath chandra chattapadhyay , bankim chandra . etc .. and i know even in hindi , urdu , tamil telugu , malayalam , kannada , marathi , gujrati punjabi sanskrit we hav brilliant works!! and since english is our global language we hav so much literature all around!! we need to explore them , we need to understand those timeless works, we need to interpretate them in our own ways and we need to potray then , then only we can feel , we can know the depth of culture around us!!

it ws during 1950s and 1960s when we used to find some gr88 piece of work by directors like hrithik ghatak , satyajit ray and they used to explore the outstading work in literature and made landmarks in movie world!!

from 1970s the scenario changed a lot and till 1990s we got gr88 movies bt they were just to make us laugh , cry or fall in love!! they never contributed to the cinemas culture...1990s and til dat we got to see gr88 movies bt literature is missing!!
where is the exchange of thoughts? where si the inspiration.. all these years we hav got may b 5-6 work on literature!!

movies r the way by which yu earch ur entity , ur soul , it enriches society with new thots and brings new dawn !!!

wat sort of contribution does these masala flicks do ? do they enrich culture ? do they provide new values??? new thoughts and new inputs??
nooo!!

and the only director at present who dares to make litreature based movies is SLB!!
he is all class, he is the one who brought new dimensions in hindi movie!!

his movies r open to any kind of interpretation , and wat literature is all abt!!
i know many ppl do not like his movies! why? becoz his movies are much " AHEAD OF TIME"
his khamoshi ws a masterpiece and it shud hav been releaased now!!ppl then cudnt reach the point of intellectuality he had , and i think now audience wud hav appreciated!!
eg: RD BURMAN , used to compose music and used to come up with various type of experimental work , and no body used to like it then soo much(i am not talkin abt pure melody)ppl were confused wat he is upto?? where as today his music is chersihed andhe is known to b the most versatile music director! yes his music was " AHEAD OF TIME"

THE GR88 MOVIE " DO BIGHA ZAMEEN " was flop , bt now considered to b landmark movie .. and that movie ws also much ahead of time!!

my father was telling me few days back that wen he was in college he went to see a movie , i dnt remember wat movie he ws talking abt ! he was unable to get any head or tail of the movei then!!! bt wen he sees the movie now he undertsands the intellectuality of the movie!!
these were all ahead of time work!!!


another thing when some1 tries to break convetional norm, and cum up with something different , it is never accepted . ppl criticise for not undertsanding or for not liking it!! they cannot stretch their brain or intellectuality to that extent!!

anything that hs new ideas and ahead of time movies r never appreciated!!wat is felt to b crap rite now becums a legendary piece of work 20 yrs aftr!!

so why i wrote the whole thng?? i think saawariya is a movie much ahead of time! may b it wil find its acceptance 10 yrs aftr ... saawariya now might luk unconvincing for some ppl , and gr88 for some others , bt saawariya is beyond that!!!it is ahead of time , apath breaking , unconventional movie, a new horizon , to hindi movies, a new try , a new way of story telling ................

and may b the flaws that we r finding today aftr 10 yrs may b the biggest assets in the movie!!
saawariya is kinda movie hich wil never be accepted worldwide , that too so ahead of time!!
bt in future , i feel this movie wil b there , named among classics of hindi movie , and wil b considered a path breaking movie!!!

and i seriously thank SLB , not to fear the world , not to fear politics , or criticism .. he shud explore new things , nd make movies which needs soul searching!!
and i want him to work on the gr888 novels and short stories of hindi , bengali , etc etc and also english and he is the only person who has the vision to do so!!!!so has the power to interpretate the evergreen writings and make movies out of it!!!

if a movie cannot enrich soul , inspire lide and bring new things , then it si not a movie!!!it shud hav contribution to our culture and society!!

As far as kne, there no news of any happenings 😕 How bout ur caps, you at hme?

I loved Ranbir was excellent and i can see him sweeping all the awards for best debut cause he made me laugh and cry with his expressions which were belivable on screen that made you relate to what he was going through

Sonam was ok but i wish she got more lines and do more with her expression cause she was crying the whole time and that laugh was annoyingbut nevertheless shares good chemistry with Ranbir and looks stunning ecspecially in the Mashallah song which captured her beaty in evrey form

Rani was funny and that line when she goes me likes makes me laugh evreytime but the amke up department deserves thumbs up cause she looked amazing and her dance in chabeela was also done very well

Salman didnt do much for me and his role was short so i payed no importance to him at all but it wouldve been interesting if he had more screen time to know more about the charecter but he dud ok in the scenes he had

Zohra Segal was so cute i felt like hugging her as well when she said she missed her son for 37 years but the b**** line was just hilarious and she pulled it off perfecty now flaws from her side at all

Overall it was ok it couldve been better without all the songs coming evrey 15 minuites but the music was excellent specail mention to the set designer for creatin a dreamlike town that evreyone would wish to live in , music fitted each situation perfectly but they shouldve minimised to 4 0r 5 cause they did drag a bit but i loved the picturisations and the film was shot beatifully but SLB should concentrate mon the script more then making the look appealing but it wasn't bad i quite liked it just the flaws need brushing up thats all

No problem i liked it but i felt the songs were a bit to long that i wanted to see more of our jodi in action with meanigful dilougues but hey im not complaining i enjoyed the staring in the rain part aww kya passionate scene tha?

Btw...I agree with all your assessments about the stars. It's just too obvious. Add one more to that...Aamir & Juhi were the best of friends but that friendship broke right around the time Juhi got married to Jay and became more chummy with SRK. They have patched up couple of years back but things never got back to the way they used to be. There is more to this than meets the eye!

One thing I was wondering that no matter how much everyone talks about the SRK Kajol jodi and their chemistry, I don't think I have ever heard any rumor about these two except that Ajay Devgan does not like SRK...hmmm...

The stars do something to start it off (see Ranbir's interview on Aaj Tak...the very first one...he mentions about his personal life and he himself admitted...well almost that stars do something to generate such rumor...he didn't say it out loud...he was almost going to...but he changed his words and said something else).

The Abhishek Rani thing is the most blatant proof of how stupid this bolly lingo of "just friends" is. If they were just friends how come Rani was not invited to the wedding?? Rani was so close to the Bachchans...Amitji once on KWK almost gave it out by saying "should I call Rani". Something was going on but things didn't work out. Simple. This "just friends" business is lame when you see two people openly flirting around (Rani threw flyng kisses at Abhi at some awards function...Abhi went to her during his performance and did a little dance for her before moving on to his sister). I mentioned before let's see if they do even one more movie together ever!

There is no smoke without fire. Something happens and like someone said not as it's written in the media but some of it is true and that's why it's printed.

That's a brillliant piece Amu!! I love your thoughts!! I agree I love thought provoking movies...look what Saawariya has done...it has made us think...use our brains...question our intellect...question our understanding of films...question the art...this is what a great movie is all about! It has generated so much discussion that it's a huge success just by that. Fine it's not making money but money is not the be all and end all of life.

Btw...the worst thing is Bengal used to make such gem of movies back then...be it Calcutta based movies or Bangladesh based movies...they were all gems. It's a sad state now...
