Happy reading :DCHAPTER 12: NEW DAWNAs they heard Ranveer and ishani going around the corridor, Saurabh and lily entered in living room again. As they entered laughter roared through the room.
"Good job,Saurabh! Your plan was superb. They would never understand that we were pretending to see the house."
Lily said ,laughing.
"It was ought to be good. At last it was my plan. You see them? Both were so desperate to be left alone that they didn't noticed anything."
Saurabh cackled.
"Yeah, right."
Lily agreed. She stopped laughing and looked at Saurabh with interest.
"What? Why are you looking at me like that?" Saurabh couldn't understand what happened.
"Nah, nothing. I was just wondering if you are always like this."
"Like what?"
"Well..." She hesitated ,"you are simply complicated. Don't take it as offence, but I..."
"Simply complicated?"
"Yeah. Simply complicated. When I saw you for first time, my guess was that you would be straightforward guy but as far as I have seen you, you are complicated. Maybe I am wrong but anyways you are good person and that's what matters, isn't it?"
"Complicated, huh? Well, nothing in the world is so simple and straightforward. So how could be me?" Saurabh replied.
Lily nodded thoughtfully.
"But you are good person. At least that is something I am almost sure of."
"How you could be sure? It has been just few hours I met you."
Saurabh looked at lily,now curiously. He knew that he hadn't met her even before the day,but there was something about her that looked so familiar. But, what? He couldn't point it out.
"I'm practical person mostly. But you can't be always practical. Sometimes it's good to trust your instincts. My mother trusted her instincts and brought ishani home. She has been my good friend, perhaps best friend. And you are best friend of Ranveer. I think that's enough for me."
"Same goes with you too. May I have you as my friend?" Saurabh asked her smiling, " it would be great to have you as a friend. "
"I thought we are friends already."
Lily returned smile to him.
"Now that we are friends,tell me about yourself. "
Saurabh questioned her, both sitting comfortably on couch.
Lily began to tell him about her. Both of them found this friendship quite lovely. There was always something they both were interested in.
They would have happily continued their chit chat forever with so many topics around, had ishani not came in the room.
Ishani was surprised to find them laughing like good old friends. She didn't want to disturb them then but Ranveer was asleep and she wanted to be there when he would wake up. This was time she could talk to Saurabh properly.
She cleared her throat. This drew their attention to her.
"Ishani! Come. Saurabh was telling jokes. He is really good at it. And Ranveer slept,right?"
Lily gestured ishani to sit next to her.
"No lily. Actually I wanted to speak with saurabh." Ishani looked at him greatfully.
"Saurabh, thank you. Thank you for everything. For saving Ranveer, for his proper treatment, for being his friend. You have no idea what you have done for me. You have returned my life to me."
Saurabh felt awkward.
"No,I did it because he is my friend. You don't have to do anything for that. He's really noble and good man. I would have done the same for anyone. Besides I am like your brother. You have right over me as sister."
"But saurabh..."
"No ifs and buts! Now you will sit with us and enjoy my jokes."
Saurabh shoved ishani gently next to lily.
Ishani was really grateful to God today. She had never thought in these years that she could be this happy. She had gotten not only her Ranveer but also a brother. Brother in form of saurabh. She didn't want to disappoint him but she had to go now. She had promised Ranveer and she was going to keep it.
"No you two could continue. I have to be there when Ranveer wakes up. I'm leaving."
Ishani left the living hall and went back to her room where Ranveer was fast asleep.she went straight to bed and sat down besides him. His peaceful face brought smile on her face.
Ranveer stirred slowly, making strange sounds. Ishani couldn't help herself from laughing. Ranveer heard distant laughing. He didn't want to wake up but somehow he wasn't able to continue sleeping.
He woke up ,rubbing his eyes. Ishani was sitting next to him. He gave her puppy smile.
"Good morning ishani!"
"Ranveer it's not morning. It's evening here."
Ranveer looked around him,confused. Slowly he realized where he was.
"Whatever! For me it's morning. Because I woke up now."
He sat leaning against the pillows. He stared at ishani lovingly as she readjusted the quilt. She always managed to look beautiful.
"You are here. You kept promise."
"I had told you I would be here. I'm not like you, who don't even think of his health. You doesn't think much about yourself but someone has to. I have not seen anyone as careless as you."
Ishani chided him,slapping him gently on cheeks. Ishani signed. She wanted to be mad at him,but she simply couldn't.
She smiled at him.
"Now my lazy husband will wake up and get ready. I don't want him to stuck in the bed all day. Some walking around will do."
Ranveer smiled to himself. He knew ishani well enough to understand that she can't be mad at him for long. And thankfully she was thinking of taking him outside which was relief. He wanted her to be happy, after what she had undergone without him. He wanted to make everything as it was before. He wanted to return her the place in hearts of their families. And for that they had to return to India.
"Ishani, I...I mean we are... What we are going to do now?"
"What question is this? I told you, I am going out with my husband. He needs to get out of the bed."
Ranveer knew that this would upset her,reminding her everything he wanted to keep her away from,but they couldn't just skip the topic.
"Ishani, I was talking about our future. Now that we have met, what we are going to do?"
As he expected, ishani became nervous at his question. She took sudden interest in the quilt and bedsheet,staring at them.
"How could I tell that? It's already all clear, Ranveer."
"Clear?" Ranveer looked at her,bewildered.
Ishani raised her head to take a brief look at his face. Then she resumed stared at bedsheet.
"Ranveer, you have come here to find me and take me back with you. We will have to go to India. You can't stay here for long. We have many matters to look at in India. We will leave after you recover."
Ranveer was observing ishani all this time. He could feel her nervousness.
"Ishani, you need not to worry about anything. At every step,you will find me standing with you. And don't worry about our family. They will understand when truth will come out. You just have to come with me."
Ranveer did his best to assure ishani but still he could feel her discomfort.
"I will come to any place you will take me to,Ranveer. I know that you are with me no matter what happens. But..."
Ishani stammered. She had always avoided the subject, but she knew that it was impossible now.
"But what, ishani?",Ranveer asked softly.
He gently raised ishani's face with his one hand and made her look at him. He cupped her face.
"Tell me ishani. What you want to say? "
"Ranveer, I ...I don't think I will be able to face anyone. I have done wrong with them. You handed me over with all responsibilities but I failed. I have failed you,I have failed our family."
Ishani broke down in tears .She couldn't bear it anymore. She had kept it buried deep in her heart for too long.
Ranveer now understood what she was saying. Disha had told him about ishani behaving strangely and rudely with everyone after some days of his assumed death. This had something to do with it.
"Ishani, you have not failed me. You have not failed anyone."
"No, you don't know anything. I treated them bad. I...I forced them to live in their home like strangers. I have hurt them,Ranveer. They will not forgive me. After all that I have done, I don't think I will be able to face them. I can't do it, Ranveer." Ishani sobbed.
Ranveer was caressing her, trying to comfort her,assuring her. He gently wiped her tears rolling down her cheeks. He could not help getting angry over himself. Due to the his mistake, everything was in mess today.
"No ishani, it's not your fault. It's my mistake. I know you will never do anything like that without solid reason. If I hadn't gone on that day, none of this would have happened. I'm responsible for everything."
Ishani looked upwards, stunned. Ranveer looked miserable, tears rolling down from his eyes and his face having guilty look.
"No Ranveer!",ishani spoke firmly, surprising Ranveer," you have done terrible thing, I agree. But you are not responsible for this. You are right ,Ranveer. I was constrained to do that. Raj had threatened that he would harm everyone if I didn't listen to him.I had to do it but that doesn't reduces my doings. I have hurt them. You trusted me with everything but I was not able to do any good." Her tone soften as she poured her heart out.
"No ishani, it is not true. You have done what you always do. You're same ishani who could do anything to see her family happy. Ishani,you protected our family forgetting your grief. Do you think I don't know that? You jailed him for everything he had done. You did more than I trusted you for. It's definitely not your mistake."
Ishani looked at him. He was comforting her,telling her that she had done no wrong. That's how he was, always taking her blames on him and giving her happiness. That was one of thousand reasons why she couldn't stop loving him.
"Ranveer I know you will always do this. Blaming yourself instead of me. I tried to correct my mistake but that doesn't mean I could forget it."
Ranveer couldn't believe she could be that stubborn.
"Enough ishani! Why are you so bent to prove it your mistake? Can't you let it just go! "
Ranveer had nearly shouted, startling her. He realized it,as ishani looked at him, startled.
His face soften as he spoke gently.
"Think about it, ishani. What happened in past must not affect our future. We should learn from the past, not just keep regretting it.",he continued.
Ishani knew he was right but she couldn't simply let everything go. She had lived with guilt for months. It was thousand times more easy to say than doing it.
Room was filled with golden sunlight coming from window. Ranveer looked outside. The sky was coloured in sheds of red,yellow and orange giving a grand look to horizon. Several birds were flying, making their way to home.
Ranveer slowly stepped down the bed. He gently holded ishani by shoulders and made her to stand up. She looked at Ranveer,confused. Ranveer smiled encouragingly and secured his hand around her shoulders. He took her to the window through which sunlight was pouring in. He took her hand in his and placed it on his chest. Ishani could feel his heart thumping steadily. She looked at him, more bewildered. Ranveer lovingly caressed her cheeks with his other hand.
"Ishani, do you feel this? whenever you will face any problem, just remember that whatever happens, this heart will always beat for you. It belongs to you. And it always will. Ishani, life often plays games with us. It's just God's way of testing how strong we are and how well we are able to fight out of mess. His ways differs from person to person. But such incidences are meant to make us much better and stronger person. He does everything with motive,ishani. All we need to do is have faith in him. He sets everything straight. Like he did when he united us by marriage,when he saved you from death,when he reunited us. Our strength is our love,ishani. No one can defeat us with love on our side. You don't have to carry the burden with you. We'll see the way through this like we did earlier."
Ranveer stopped for a while, gesturing her to look out of the window.
"Look ishani. Sun is going to set, leaving the world in darkness. But that doesn't mean he is going to abandon world,leaving it in darkness. Sun will raise again next morning,giving warmth and light which will fill world with new life. Our lives are no different. What we have experienced till now was darkness of night but now is the time of dawn,new dawn of our life that will have hope and happiness, love and trust. Ishani, I promise this time everything will be right. Nothing will come between us. With tomorrow's dawn,new chapter will begin, and I am going to make it the most beautiful chapter of our lives. Now is the time we need to let go of everything in past and move ahead making memories for ourselves. I will be with you on every step from now. We are going to stay here till you are ready and I will not listen anything on this. I am going to open new branch of our company here. We will work together on this, helping each other to let go of our painful part of past. "
Ishani looked at Ranveer, shocked.
"But Ranveer..."
"No ishani, I told you this is my final decision. To do this ,I need your help. Will you be with me?"
Ranveer asked her.
Ishani sighed. She knew how stubborn Ranveer could be. She didn't want to keep him away from their families, when he has returned conquering the death. But he wouldn't listen to her.
"Ranveer, you already know my answer. I will be with you, no matter what happens. My heart also beats for you. Your happiness is everything to me. So,yes."
Ishani rested her head on crook of his neck,staring at the sunset outside. Sun had already descended down the horizon. The sky looked like abstract painting of sheds of red,orange and yellow with occasional sheds of sky blue mixed in it. The world would soon submerge in ocean of darkness but with hope that sun will return with new dawn,bringing a beautiful day with it,lightening everything.
