Yeah I guess I ll do that. Downloading ZGH right now.

As for IPK, the story always treated Khushi unfair. Somehow the TRP audience just needs its daily dose of female being dominated, oppressed. May be they live vicariously through that. No idea. Very few stories where a woman is treated well gets TRPs. The mindset is that way. IPK manged to balance the TRP audience and the online viewers and fandoms in a way not many can. Gotta give them credit for that.

While that is true, I would still say Khushi was more Arnav's equal than most female leads are to the male leads. I just wish the whole misunderstanding had brought Arnav to his knees & given scope to exploring Khushi's independence. It was such an out of character behaviour for both Arnav & Khushi to just brush it off under the carpet. Khushi always had a lot of self respect, & she had to have reacted differently to the unfairness. And, self flagellation & remorse were such huge traits of Arnav. It was shown in the earlier episodes. That he would be so easy on himself after hurting her & her pride so much was rubbish. Clearly, they only cared about TRPs. And, that is equivalent to weddings on Indian TV. So , we got that moronic pheres talk & ta-da, remarriage happened.
But yeah. It did appeal to the TRP audiences & the online audiences. Probably the only show that worked well for both audiences. Something about that show seems to appeal to everyone. The show is a hit everywhere it airs. I think, they got the balance right, family drama, romance, comedy, all of it.
Have you guys watched Rishta. Com? I loved that show.

The initial attraction of the show was how Khushi despite their vast n enormous differences always stood up to Arnav, challenged him, made him rethink his usual actions and in general think about how he was as a person. That was the pre-planned part of the story. After the hate marriage things started being whimsical according to TRP demands, actor availability, fan demands and what not. The IPK we fell in love with was diluted into a TRP show.

Even if Arnav did not exactly fall at her feet, as a man of actions he should at least have made amends for the pain his actions gave her and the suffering she and her family went through. The Gupta house track should have been that instead of suicide drama.

Not seen rishta.com, actually I am hearing about if for the first time. What's it about?
It was aired in 2010 (thanks to google). I know nothing of he stuff from 2010 to 2013 on TV thanks to my hostel where getting TV remote was impossible. So the only thing I watched was IPK online.

The suicide drama was so cringeworthy, I usually block it out from my memory. I would rather not even remember that that track happened. It made zero sense & was offensive in the way it handled the theme. Probably one of the few times where IPK simply made no sense. At other times, there was at least something working in its favour even in the most irritating sequences like the movie date turned into an embarrassing family outing to the theatre episode. That suicide part though was just... I don't even have words in my vocabulary for how bad a track that was.

I have heard a lot about Rishta.com, but never got to watch it. Humasafar was a sad story, I mean, she's left with nothing and no one to turn to . But yeah, I watched it one epi at a time, and the last 4 were watched while they were airing, which is once a week. So, I obviously didn't feel depressed. I loved how they showed the evolution of their relationship in the first few episodes. So beautifully done.
God, do you remember the scene after Anjali's abortion drama, when Arnav basically blames Khushi for coming into Shyam's life? I was like W*F! And the old Khushi would have left, as she was meaning to. But no, he had to show up. I do wonder, what would the story have been like, if she had gone away, and left a letter to her sister or to Arnav, which would out the secret of their wedding? And you 're right Archu, the Payal-Akaash wedding was so much fun.

Ah, don't talk about the show, I think it was Dil-e-Muztar. I wish they hadn't re-united, that was such Ekta-style trope. Another one that I watched was Mahira's Sadqe Tumhaare, beautiful OST, but a very tragic, hard hitting story. I also didn't like that they stretched it so much. That was like Bhansali gone into tragedy-overdrive.

A lot of people don't like Mahira Khan, and i agree,Sanam Saeed is a much better actor. But I love the way Mahira speaks Urdu. Such good intonation.

YRF made a a few finite shows for Sony back then. Rishta.com was one of them. It is urbane, real, funny with the right dose of emotion & also, well made. It is amazing! Watch it. That is how good Indian TV can be. It is sad that Indian TV doesn't usually try to be as good.

I had hoped Khushi would dump Arnav's sorry ass after those 6 months were up & go away. I was counting on her self respect & his guilt to make sure of the redemption track. The Creatives decided to forget both those traits. Su, I remember that scene. I had been hopping mad. The least they could have done to make that scene right was to at least show Khushi being angry & not just hurt. Her reaction was just off. And, I can't believe they made him spout such lines, blaming her despite knowing the truth. Everything was a mess. The creatives were avoiding a redemption track for some reason. I think, they were scared to take Barun-Sanaya out of the same frame because by then, it was literally only their chemistry that was keeping the audiences hooked. I think, they should have tried it though. Would have been worth the risk had they handled the scripting the way they had handled it up to Holi.

Silver Linings Playbook. Watch it if you already haven't. Quirky romance, good dose of comedy, amazing performances. I liked it. Very enjoyable.
