"Why are you doing this?" she suddenly asked him out of nowhere and he was taken aback at first, but managed to gain his composure back in no time and countered her innocently. "Doing what Nandini?"

"Of course you know what I am asking about Manik! So just tell me why are you doing this now?" she questioned him sternly once again.

"I don't know Nandini!" he replied still maintaining his calmness and kept his focus on the food in front of him smartly avoiding her gaze.

"Okay fine! Why are you acting so differently all of a sudden, pretending to be so happy when I know you are not."

"Because I want to see you happy!" came his instant reply, still not bothering to look up at her.

"Really?" she asked being surprised with his answer.

"Yes, really! As I know I can't keep you happy by being sad and gloomy myself. I need to be happy first so that I can spread the same smile on your face..." He said, this time staring right into her confused eyes, and continued after a pause. "I'm tired of seeing you so sad all the time... I want to see you smiling again. I, I'm tired of not being able to do something for you. But now, no more! I will make sure you smile more often now. And I promise you that!"
