I have never heard of this before. Just because some one is employing you, doesn't give them the right to humiliate you. Even in regular jobs if the company or the employer is not happy with your performance after hiring you they fire you. They don't ask the fellow employees to form a circle around you and ridicule and insult you. Stuff like that can scar people psychologically.
