SCENE 12

Arnav, Khushi and everyone else on the dais stood up in shock, the reporters turned to see an enraged Lavanya standing at the door...

Lavanya made her way to the dais and turned to the reporters...

L: ARNAV IS NOT ENGAGED, THEY ARE LYING... DO YOU GET THAT...?

Vish rushed down to Lavanya and tried to calm her down...

L: GET OFF ME, STOP STICKING TO ME... she said as she pushed him away...

Arnav came down next and held Lavanya's arm tightly, to turn her to himself...

He looked straight into her eyes, and in a very low and calm voice he said,

"Do you realise that people are going to think that you have lost your mind, Lavanya..."

Lavanya kept on staring at him until Arnav spoke again...

"It's better that you leave, right now..."

Lavanya blinked thrice and looked at Khushi... She cursed under her breath and stormed out of the hall...

Arnav turned and "The press conference is over..."

The reporters tried to ask them some more questions but Arnav denied answering anymore... Finally they left.

Khushi saw a sad Vishal standing at one corner, she walked up to him...

K: "Vish, what's the matter... I've been noticing for many days, your behaviour changes, whenever Lavanya's around..."

V: "nothing like that, Khushi..."

K: "Vish you can't lie to me..."

V: "well, there is something..." he paused for a moment... "Well you know... there is something..." he was hesitant...

K: Vish, it's me Khushi, you share everything with me...

V: "well, I love Lavanya..." he spat out...

Khushi's eyes widened up, it was almost about to pop out when, "please don't let Arnav know about this..." Vishal requested...

Khushi controlled her emotions and took Vishal's hand into hers... "Vish, don't worry... and you know what, if you want I can help you with Lavanya..."

V: "really...?"

K: "yes absolutely..." she smiled.

Arnav entered his dad's office...

The TV in his office was playing the press conference telecast...

Yashvardhan Raizada muted the TV and turned to Arnav, "so now you are engaged...?"

A: "That was the only way of saving our... my name..."

Y: "mmm... so Khushi is actually Shashi's daughter...?"

A: "yes, papa..."

Y: "your eyes tell me, that you have some feelings for this girl..."

Arnav looked down...

Y: "she's cute, you know..."

Arnav looked up at his dad, shocked...

Y: "what...?" he stood up, "after all I'm your dad..."

Arnav still couldn't believe his ears; he just stared at his dad, blankly.

Y: "I've known Shashi for the past 20 years... he was the fashion designer for my directorial debut, film..., if you ever decide to chose, Khushi, I'll be on your side..."

Arnav's eyes smiled...

Y: "see Chote, I want your happiness, but when I find you taking wrong decisions like Kashyap girl, I have to be strict..."

A: "I'm sorry dad, Lavanya was not worth it. I fought with you, I fought with Di, Aakash and nani... but she just wasn't worth it... She didn't respect our family values and didn't respect my family... She never belonged here..."

Y: "it's okkay, Chote... this is your age to learn to take correct decisions..." he patted his son's shoulder...

A: "dad, I have known Khushi for 2 to 3 months now... she is not like Lavanya... She is a really sweet girl..."

Y: "She's Shashi's daughter... I know what she can be like... why don't you bring her home someday... we would love to meet her..."

A: "sure dad..."

Arnav and his dad had a very typical kind of a relationship, after Arnav's mom had passed away; his dad had tried to be both a mother and a father for Arnav, Anjali and Aakash... He never married another woman and managed to be a good parent, with a little help from his wife's mom (Nani).

He never expressed how much he loved his kids, but he loved them like anything.

Arnav never opened up his feelings to his dad as he thought he was not understood at home. The only person who knew Arnav inside out was Aakash and Anjali too knew somewhat about him.

He only had formal talks with his dad. It was studies when he was a kid and it's about work now.

A: "so, dad... how is your new movie coming up...?"

Y: "it's going good... this new boy, Sidharth Malhotra, he's really good..."

Arnav smiled and they chatted with each other for a while, finally Yash got a work phone call and Arnav left his room.

Khushi was at home, when Arnav called her up, "hi, what are you doing...?"

K: "nothing... why?"

A: "can you come out with me... like in an hour..."

K: "I think I can, where do you want me to meet you...?"

A: "outside your house..."

K: "huh? Oh okkay..."

After about an hour,

Khushi was sitting inside Arnav's car, "so where are you taking me...?"

A: there is this place, they make real good Indian non-vegetarian food... it's a low profile kinda place, but the food is just fabulous...

K: is it a date? Khushi smiled...

Arnav turned to her and smirked... "absolutely"... and winked at her...

Khushi smiled and turned on the stereo in the car... Arnav looked at Khushi and smiled.

He thought, "How could I be so damn lucky?"

Khushi squealed suddenly, "eee"

A: "what the...? What happened?"

K: this song... it's my favourite... she gave a childish smile and looked innocently at Arnav...

A: god! You are so cute... he mumbled...

K: wat?

A: uh! Nothing..., listen to your song...

Khushi shrugged and looked out of the window again... Arnav had been driving for a while now; they had moved out of the city roads and were driving through a much quieter roadway...

K: "where are we going...?"

A: "I told you... now don't ask any more questions... don't you like surprises...?"

K: "hmm..." she smiled...

Arnav looked at her and opened his mouth to say something, then closed it back...

K: "what?"

A: "uh... nothing..."

K: "come on... don't lie..."

A: "you know... I really want this to work out for us... this relationship, I mean..."

Finally, he turned the car and drove it around a beautifully lit lake and stopped at the gate of a restaurant...

Khushi looked out and exclaimed, "waow...!!!"

She hurriedly opened the door and ran out towards the lake... Arnav smiled at her childish behaviour and shook his head... "Too, too cute..."

He looked at her from the car; she was wearing a black figure kissing dress with a pink translucent flowing frock above it.

She looked like a cute school going energetic restless teenager, Arnav gave a happy sigh as he got down from the car.

After he had locked his car, he went and stood next to Khushi... "Wanna see the interiors...?"

K: "can we not stand here and eat...?" she asked making a puppy face...

A: "you know what, if you have planned of doing this, puppy face thing, for the whole of the date, I'll end up kissing you again... as it is, I'm controlling myself..." he said, looking straight into her eyes...

Khushi's eyeballs shivered on hearing this and she looked down, blushing... her face changed its colour to a shade of pink, Arnav had never seen in his life...

A: "by the way, you can see a better view of the lake from our table..."

Khushi looked up, a childish glee in her eyes... "What are you waiting for, then? Come let's go in..." she held his arm and was intending to drag him towards the entrance when Arnav pulled her instead and she crashed onto his chest... his hands snaked around her waist, "what happened? Weren't you trying to DRAG me into the restaurant...?" he smirked as he stressed on DRAG'...

Khushi looked up at him and flushed...

Arnav released her gently and moved to her side... he took her hand into his and planted a soft kiss on her cheek... his lips moved closer to her ear and "Shall we?" it made Khushi shiver and she turned a darker shade of pink.

Lavanya paced up and down her manager's office...

La: "I thought she was just another gold digger..." she yelled...

Manager: nnno... maaa'aamm... he fumbled...

La: "I KNOW!!! She is Payel's sister... Pash... She belongs to, The Gupta Family..."

M: yyyeeesss... maaa'aamm...

La: Shut Up...!!! when the hell did they get engaged...?

M: I... I don't know ma'am...

La: "Then find out... and if it's not true..."a slow smile appeared on her face...

The waiter took them to the extreme end of the restaurant... a wooden platform, just next to the lake... There were small lanterns that lit the place. A table for two was set under the shade of a tree...

"It's so beautiful..." Khushi uttered as she looked at Arnav...

Arnav smiled and took her towards the table... The waiter was waiting by the chair to help Khushi with it... when...

A: "get us the menu please, I'll take care of that..." he smiled...

The waiter gave a gentle bow and walked away... Arnav helped Khushi with the chair and took the seat opposite to hers.

Khushi turned towards the lake and smiled... "Thank you so much for bringing me to such a beautiful place..."

Arnav smiled at her and thought, "Anything for you, Khushi..." he decided that it would sound too filmy if he said that to her, so he kept it to himself. He thought of another one liner, "Nothing's more beautiful than you, Khushi..." he decided against that too...

A: "god! I'm so out of one liner..." he sighed, out loud...

K: "excuse me?"

Arnav looked at her, shocked... "And this was the only thing I had to say out loud? Really, Arnav Singh Raizada, what's wrong with you?" he scolded himself mentally...

A: "uh! Nothing..."

Khushi looked at him, "but...!"

A: "ah! The menu is here..." he said looking at the waiter... "You saved me man...!" he said mentally and smiled at the waiter.

The waiter handed the menu cards to Khushi and Arnav...

A: "what do you want to have, Khushi?"

K: "you know better than me, you order..."

A: "okkay, you want some wine...?"

K: "sure, no problem..."

Arnav scanned through the menu and looked at the waiter...

A: "get us a bottle of Pinot Noir' (a type of wine), chicken dumplings and fried chicken sticks, for starters... and dinner, we'll order after a while..." he smiled

W: "sure sir..."

As the waiter walked out...

A: "So all set to go to Greece...?"

K: "yeah..." she said enthusiastically...

A: "have you ever been there, before...?"

K: "umm, just once... what about you?"

A: "yeah, some part of Shaadi Street' (one of Arnav's movies) was shot there..."

K: "oh yeah I remember... that holiday sequence..."

A: "yeah..."

K: "will Lavanya agree to come...?"

A: "if she doesn't, I know how to handle the situation..."

K: "mmm..."

A: "umm... may I ask you a question?"

K: "sure..."

A: "umm... I... I... was asking... umm... do you like me...? The real me, I mean..."

Khushi looked at him for a while, a sweet smile crept on her face, "my liking is only for the real you... yeah, I did have a crush on The Arnav Singh Raizada' but I started liking you when, I got to know the real you..."

Arnav smiled at her, "you are adorable" he thought in his mind...

Khushi replied, mentally, "thank you"

Arnav thought, "I so wish I could say love you to you, but that would be too soon..."

Khushi replied (thought) "mmm... I don't think so... it's never too late or too early... I love you..."

Arnav's thoughts suffered from a sudden shock and it fumbled, "I... I... love you too..."

The waiter, walked into the scene to see the two of them staring at each other...

W: "sir, your wine, chicken dumpling and fried chicken sticks..."

The waiter poured the wine into the wine goblets and served the starters...

Arnav scanned the menu again and looked at Khushi... "I hope you wouldn't mind using your hands, for eating..."

K: "not at all..."

Arnav ordered the main course and the waiter walked away...

Arnav swirled his goblet and scanned the colour of the wine, he took in the aroma of the famous french wine, Pinot Noir... and finally took a sip...

Khushi had been the doing the same thing in the meantime... they placed their goblets on the table and uttered simultaneously, "Extraordinary". They looked at each other and smiled...

Dinner was served after a while... and after about an hour, Arnav and Khushi had taken their taste buds to a worthwhile tour of tasty north Indian non vegetarian food. They had chicken kababs, tandoori chicken, dal makhani and keema parantha.

Khushi took in the last bite of her keema parantha and looked at Arnav who was indulged in a more interesting job of looking at Khushi... Khushi frowned and blinked twice, but Arnav gave no reactions, she then stuck out her tongue and made funny faces, to which Arnav smiled... and finally came back to his normal senses.

A: what are you doing...?

K: nothing... why? You saw something? As she took the empty wine goblet in her hand and tried to take a sip of, air... He could she her cheeks turn red...

A: you are such a kid... he smiled...

La: any news?

M: yes ma'am, Arnav sir is not engaged to her...

La: mmm... she grinned I knew it... do we have any proof of that?

M: umm... no ma'am...

La: THEN GET ME ONE, REAL OR FAKE, DOESN'T MATTER... JUST GET ME A PROOF... she yelled at him and stormed out of the room...
