But Aish didn't had huge success like Kareena had. More than 90% movies of Aish are failure at BO u just can't put her in Top 3 category just coz she appears at Cannes. I'll put Madhuri and Kajol up then Aish.

While I think Aish is successful even apart from her Bachchan-bahu tag, I do feel that being a part of a powerful family definitely helped her Bollywood career. I cannot predict if she would've faded away had she not married Abhishek. She would still have L'Oreal and Cannes and maybe SLB but difficult to say beyond that. She was in a really bad place after her break-up with Salman because she managed to have a fallout with SRK and Aamir as well. Being on the wrong side of all these three wasn't a good idea especially back then. Her patch-up with the latter two was also out of nowhere. One fine day everyone was on good terms again.

Bride and Prejudice- Solo Starrer.

Budget: $7 million
Earnings: $24 million

Earned triple the budget.
The film was marketed on her name and it was just her international debut. I don't think any Indian star managed to pull that off.

And Provoked ain't a disaster. It was an international film made with a shoestring budget, and was primarily released only in UK and small no. of theatres in India. It did manage to breakthrough making a $3 million, so it was a moderate success. Taal was more or less her film only, it revolved around her. Even HDDCS was more about Nandini, but ofcourse it had sallu who was an established star.

The BOI you are talking about has her ranked at the Number One in the decade 2000-09 and All-time at No. 2 despite the 5 yr break.

About performances, she has received acclaim and awards for HDDCS, Devdas, Taal, Raincoat, Guzaarish, Guru, Chokher Bali, Jodhaa Akbar, provoked among others. And will be known for it.

If she wanted just hits, she wouldn't have turned down HNY. She is clearly not interested in doing an inconsequential 2. min role and take the credit.
Currently, she was 4 confirmed films already with Jazbaa, ADHM, Sarabjit and Sujoy's film.. despite the 5 yr break.

Ash is beyond BO. She never did films for BO. She has done South films in her prime. She does what she wants to do and isn't ruled by the BO

List wise on BOI she is in Top 3 for quite some time, my question on this thread is does she is even considered 2 be that in all in all general view as if u see her career, before dhoom 2 she had a line of disasters back 2 back that too 5 & same year 2006 she is No.1 Actress in above list.

BOI Star power system is yet to be revealed more clearly as how suddenly few stars gets shoot up in points from 1 decade to another or even after debut some are in top for maximum years, their system gets upgraded from time 2 time, as 90's decade is yet to be added.

1996-1999

Her points are 550.

2000

1 BB / 1 Hit, 1 Flop / 1 Average - Her points shoots up to 570.

2001

1 Flop - her points shoots up to 610 - She is No.1 Star that year

2002

1 Hit - her points shoots up to 665 - No.1 star

1 reason for Aish to be on TOP all these specific year can be Karisma sliding down(may be marriage) & despite giving Gadar(Amisha Patel) / Lagaan (Gracy Singh) / K3G - Kajol & Bebo, all these Heroines couldn't manage 2 come @ top & Aish manage to keep that flow from 1 BB which she got from Mohabbetin.

Madhur / Sridevi also not doing that much films as they were doing in 90's... so here we have emerging stars like aish / rani / preity / kajol... in which 1 BlockBuster made all the difference for all those Ranking on BOI.

You should recheck your facts. Aishwarya has done 25 Hindi Films, out of which 10 have been successful (2 Blockbusters, 4 Hits, 2 Semi-hits and 2 Averages) - according to Box Office India, they count hits, Semi this and averages as successful movies and they have given her a tag of 10..and... From 1999-2010, with the exception of 2 years she was always being nominated in the best actress category. I do not think you can call that a "failure"

The remaining 15 movies have not done well, but a lot of them were off-beat films such as Raincoat, which may not have worked at the box office but its considered one of her best performances. Its also hard for movies like Guzaarish to work at the box office due to the depressing content- even though it was 5 years ago then audience was not as open as they are today...You have to take that into consideration as well...Alot of the movies Ash did were ahead of their time and didnt work because the audience was very closed-midned back then... Plus she does have big hits outside of the Hindi films industry: .like Bride & Prejudice, Iruvar, Jeans, Robot (which was one of the first films to earn 100 crores), Enthiran, etc etc.

..I think a movie like Shabd would do well if it released in 2015.. but anyway the the bigger picture is that she was appreciated of her acting. Sure Raincoat and Guzarish flopped badly, but she earned so much recognition for her work that she even won awards for it - does that really make unsuccessful then? Dont think so. I guess success for you is delivering 500 crore films that have no storyline and are filled with lots of senseless stuff, if thats your criteria then yes Ash is a failure, and so are most actresses then. Although, I can't take you too seriously since you are endorsing a murderer and criminal in your signature there.
