But the end game is Manan though right?😕

Thank you so much! Means a lot. I'll probably update two or three times next week. And yes, this is a MaNan story through and through so they will be the end couple.

So Cabir hates her, poor girl, but he is playing cupid between Manan, so I supporting him

I like how you didn't turn Nandini into a love sick fool, who can't talk, she is quite confident

Do pm if possible

Thank you very much! Yes, Cabir's actions are affecting MaNan a lot. I really didn't want to show Nandini as a damsel in distress and I'm glad you think it worked out. I'll PM when I update next week probably.

c h a p t e r f o u r

"You're not in your right senses, Cabir," Manik spoke through his phone for the millionth time, hoping his friend would change his mind. There was still time for it but knowing Cabir, he wouldn't. Manik still held on to that one percent chance of him magically liking his sister again and stopping both of them from making what he knew would be a terrible mistake.

"I'm sure about this, Manik," Cabir replied yet again, and he lied. He wasn't sure, he was terrified of this. He hated his sister but he was still thinking about whether or not they should go to this extent. He wouldn't let Manik know that, though.

"We're going to regret this," Manik stated, closing his eyes and taking in a deep breath.

"Oh, Manik," Cabir let out a bitter laugh, "you're not going to regret anything that gets you your parents' attention."

Manik clenched the marriage documents in his hands, knowing just how right his friend was, and he hated it.

Nandini just knew that this was a bad day. Nothing bad had happened to her so far, but she knew something would be coming along. It just felt like this was a terrible, terrible day for her. Something life-changing would happen. She couldn't wrap her finger around it yet but she just knew.

"Nandini?" the soft, familiar voice of a male she knew caused her to turn around, and she smiled when she spotted him. A warm, genuine smile.

"Hi, Dhruv," she greeted him, and he gave her a cheeky smile.

"Hi. Um, it's been long," he nervously said.

"Yes, it has." She could clearly see from his nervous posture and the way he kept fidgeting his hands that he wanted to ask her something. She was scared of what it would be. "Did you need anything, Dhruv?"

"Actually, I- er- yeah, I guess," he stammered.

"Well...?" she pried.

"Um, if y-you're free to-today... w-will you-u go on a d-d-date with m-e?" he finally managed to get the words out. She wanted to laugh and pinch his cheeks. At times, he was very adorable.

Nandini knew of Dhruv's feelings about her since long, but she didn't reciprocate them. She felt a little guilty because she knew Dhruv liked her a lot and Navya always said that he was a nice guy whom she should give a chance. Heck, everyone - even her own parents - had suggested that.

It's true, she thought to herself, Dhruv is a nice guy, almost like the perfect guy.

Nandini smiled at him, flattered by his confession. She forgot about the nagging feeling which just screamed to her that this day was bad, that some terrible danger was coming. He made her forget all of those and she loved it. Maybe he deserves that one chance, she decided.

"Yes, Dhruv, I will go out with you."

Manik got out of his car with his right hand in his pocket, clenching the piece of white cloth tightly. He was glad to find very few cars parked and no one around. Just like he said, Manik thought.

Cabir's decision to make Manik marry his sister took place a week ago, and he has been completely serious about it. The boy even found out all the necessary information for Manik. He researched and let him know that Nandini took extra classes on Wednesdays and by that time; her college was practically empty except for a few people roaming around. He personally made sure that no one would be around today so that Manik faces no disturbances in his plan.

When he noticed a familiar figure stepping out of the gates, Manik straightened up. Nandini spotted him quickly and as soon as she did, he gave her a charming smile. She simply looked confused.

He motioned at her to come over and with slow and cautious steps, she did exactly that. He was glad as now they were a safe distance away from the guard who wasn't paying any attention anyway.

"Hi," he greeted her once she reached him.

"What are you doing here?" she asked him directly, not bothering with any kind of formalities.

"I just wanted to visit you," he lied.

"Manik," she said in a firm tone, "enough with these games, tell me the truth."

"But this is the truth," he insisted.

"I refuse to believe it."

"That's not my problem."

"Ugh, what's the matter with you?" she took another step forward. "Yo-"

The events that followed were incredibly fast. He quickly seized the opportunity to grab both her hands and pin them behind her, also pulling her close to him, facing her back. Taking out his right hand with the white cloth that had chloroform smeared on it, he pressed it against her mouth and her eyes widened. She struggled against his hold, trying very hard to break it but he held her tight and her attempts only made him hold her even tighter. It took a few solid minutes before she felt her eyes droop due to sniffing the chemical. She tried to blink in order to stay awake but alas, Nandini Murthy failed.

She opened her eyes slowly, her vision still blurry. As it cleared, she noticed that she was sitting in a wooden chair in a small room. The dirty green paint of the walls was peeling away and there were cracks in them too. A ceiling fan was above her, spinning slowly. There was also a long table in front of her and on the other side sat Manik in a similar chair. What made her eyes go wide was seeing him point a gun at her. Immediately, she got up with a jerk, taking deep breaths.

"So you're awake," he made the observation. "Don't even try to move or I will not hesitate to shoot you." He knew he wouldn't shoot her no matter what, but she didn't.

"What are you doing?" she asked him, disbelief clearly lacing out in her tone. "Why am I here?"

"I'm not answering any of those questions of yours," he simply stated and then took the paper that lay on the table in front of him and slid it her way. "There is a pen there. Shift to page three and sign, then again on page six, and then on the last page."

"What?" she sputtered out.

"Sign the paper," he demanded, his tone loud and fierce, "on page three, page six, and the last page."

"What is this paper? Why would I do that?"

"Because if you don't, I will kill you," he coldly told her, and it seemed to work because the look she gave him next, the look of absolute betrayal and slowly disgust, made him want to crawl into a corner and die. He hated this look.

"Why are you doing this to me?" she asked, her voice breaking.

"Just what am I doing, Nandini?"

"You're kidnapping me." She felt like sobbing but she couldn't, not now. She had to be strong but it was just so hard in such a situation.

"Are your hands tied?" he simply questioned her and it took her a while to gain control of herself to be able to answer.

"No..."

"Are your legs tied?"

"No..."

"Is the door locked?"

Her eyes searched the room for a door and she found one on her left, very far. It was open just a crack and she could see a green field outside. "No," she finally answered.

"Then you're free to go."

"Am I?"

"After you sign these papers, I'm going to put this gun down," Manik promised, giving her a small smile of reassurance.

Nandini didn't like this. She didn't want to trust him, but she felt suffocated in this place. She just wanted to run and get away from here and from him. It was just a paper and three signatures, and it seemed quite harmless to her at the time. Her mind was clouded and she wasn't in her senses. She didn't even care enough to read it; she was that desperate to get way. She took the pen and signed on the three pages as fast as she could, much to Manik's pleasure.

"Thank you, Nandini," he said and it was then when she made a run for it. Just as she was going to open the door and step out, she felt those familiar hands push her back and that same white cloth, forcing her to take in that breath she most certainly didn't want to take. She felt powerless once again and as her eyes closed, Nandini hated the feeling.

After a few hours, Manik Malhotra made a call to his friend once he was in his room. His whole attention was placed on the female that lay passed out in his bed. He knew that she would be waking soon, and he dreaded what would happen once she did. He wanted to apologize but he knew that it was far too late.

"It's done," he quietly whispered once Cabir picked up.

Both of them were regretting this already.
