Ishita!' Madhu reproached.

It is high time mom! What? Raman must be forty now?' Ishita even managed to crack a chuckle. So who's the lucky gal?'

Some Indian girl who is born and brought up in Europe. God know what kind she'll be,' Toshi spoke.

What rubbish! I would never think of my DIL in such a rustic terms. You know me better than that.' Toshi appeared offended.

I agree with Madhavi! However, adjustments, respect, even love in such relationships is a two-sided street - give and take. A marriage should not imply that the girl shun her personality, ideas and thought process of twenty-four or twenty-six years and become a clone of her MIL, something our own daughter are not.' Toshi pointedly looked at Ishita who grinned broadly.

Madhavi bobbing her head, acquiesced, marriage should never be thought as the boys side acquiring a new member and a girl's side losing one.'

Of course two families come together and none is inferior or superior. If a DIL has responsibilities towards her spouse's family, so does the SIL,' Toshi said.

Toshi urgently unloaded. Clasping Ishita's hand, she asked, Are you alright with this?'

Ofcourse Badi Maa. Its perfectly alright with me,' Ishita affirmed, patting the older woman's hand. Raman and I have made peace. Its all in the past.'

Then why are you still single?' Toshi grilled.

Because you dint pop a third son!'

It's all Prakash's fault; I always wanted a third one. He got himself operated behind my back,' Toshi confided, smiling.

Ishita covered her ears, protested, Eeewww... too much information!'

Jokes apart, your mother tells me you show no interest in any of the eligible boys, she has had to force you to meet, and there have been several.'

I guess they weren't eligible enough!' Ishita replied, flippantly.

Badi maa, when the right one comes along, I am sure everything will fall in place,' Ishita mouthed a trite response.

After thinking for a few minutes, Toshi murmured, Maybe I should step in and clear"

Ishita cut her off, you don't have to. Let the sleeping dongs lie. Raman is beginning a new phase of life; don't rake up the past. No one did anything wrong.'

Glum, Toshi dotingly kissed Ishita's forehead.

here is the mithai! Whats going on?' Madhavi coming in, on seeing their expressions, inquired.

Nothing just telling Ishu that I want to eat this mithai for her... soon,' Toshi evaded. Ishita grabbed the largest two pieces of mithai from the box.

1520 days equals four years and two months roughly!
