Ishita turned around a bit startled hearing his voice from behind. She replied as if caught off guard "no...matlab yes..."

He raised his eyebrows and looked enquiringly at her confused reply while she continued "Adi and Ruhi wanted to give you this cake...so..."

She held out the paper plate in her hand with a piece of the cake. He looked at the cake and then at her alternatively as if she was missing something. Raman showed the cake in his hands, "accha? But they already gave me the cake"

He smiled as he gobbled in the last bit into his mouth. Ishita hissed in annoyance, trying to justify her gesture, "Yeh bacche bhi na? mujhse double job karwaate hai"

Raman silently observed while Ishita turned around to walk away. He spoke up all of a sudden, "Well madrasan, I don't like cakes but I don't mind eating one more as it's a special day..."

He didn't know why he said that. He never wanted the cake but he asked for it.

Ishita looked at him, a bit surprised at his response. She wondered if he was flirting with her or was he trying to act good hoping for a compromise or compensate for his rudeness earlier. She had double minds in giving it to him but then suppressed the other side and held it out to him like a good host. He took it from her and fumbled with his words to apologize. He was really bad in it because saying sorry to someone never came easily to him.

Ishita thought to herself about how egoistic he was. She didn't show out her thoughts but sarcastically remarked, "Enjoy the cake Mr Bhalla...main chalti hoom"

She was about to walk away when all of a sudden he blurted out, "Sorry Ishita"

She turned back surprised at his apology while he went on to add, "I think I spoke too much...I mean, tumaare husband..."

She snapped his words as she didn't want a further talk on that topic, "That's ok Mr Bhalla...I crossed my limits too...sorry about that"

Saying that, she walked off to the kids without giving him a chance to respond.

Though Ishita said that, the thought behind that weighed her heart down and she was really disturbed about the growing closeness between all of them. Though Adi wasn't showing out much, she knew that he was starting to like Raman and was inclining towards him assuming the image of an appa. Raman's return to the party and the gift would have only raised Adi's expectations. She couldn't allow this to grow at any cost...never!

Trusting men or allowing a man into their closed private life was something she never wanted to do. Yes, Raman's goodness wasn't hidden to her and, she knew that he was trustworthy and she always admired and respected him for the person he was but she couldn't allow anything more. She knew that his personality and character was such that her strong heart would slip away if not kept under control. In fact, she couldn't deny atleast to herself that she was miserably failing her own resolutions at times when he was around.

She couldn't let her heart wander close to him nor let him wander into their lives... it would prove fatal to both their hearts!

Somehow, she felt that he wouldn't want this to grow as well. She was thankful for whatever he did for Adi's happiness but she couldn't let this continue to a point of no return.

In normal scenario, Raman should have thought the same about the growing closeness between their kids and of course about how it was drawing them both closer. But to his surprise, his mind and heart seemed debating differently. He couldn't deny the reality that he was liking this together time but his ego stopped from acknowledging the same openly.

The party was wrapped up early as per the school rules. Ishita kissed Adi and Ruhi before sending them back to their respective rooms. Slowly, hesitantly Raman too crouched down to hug Ruhi and Adi. The ice walls between him and his daughter seemed melting away. He sadly realized that a little time together, an effort to let go of the past and embrace the present and future could indeed work wonders in their cold relationships. Already, the cold vibes were being replaced by a fond warmth that engulfed them in a loving bond. He had to thank Ishita for bringing in this warmth.

After bidding bye to the kids, Ishita and Raman returned to Raman's guest house after an early dinner. Raman knew that Ishita was planning stay on for one more day while he had to leave early next morning.

It wasn't an easy night for both. Lots of things happened in that one day, probably more to do in their own selves. Both realized what their kid yearned for and inturn they were also realizing what was lacking in their own lives. Their incomplete life seemed pricking them more than ever before. It was a strange fix situation which left them sleepless.

Raman settled on the cane chair in the sit out with his lap top while Ishita strolled in her room.

In between his work, he did something for her. He booked an air ticket for Monday morning from Pune to Mumbai. He knew she was planning to get into some bus but somehow, he wasn't liking the whole idea of her struggling during the return journey. So he booked the ticket without asking her. Only when her phone buzzed with a confirmation message regarding the ticket, she knew what he did.

She didn't think about the time or the odd hour. She just ventured out of her room to refuse his favor. Though angry and fuming at his liberty of taking decisions for her, she was also liking his concern and that angered her more.

She would have barged into his room if she didn't notice him outside. She walked straight to him, "Mr Bhalla, why did you do this? Just because I took your favor once, it doesn't mean that I would take it every time"

Her anger didn't shake him a bit. Probably he had expected this reaction from her. He took his own time to look up from the laptop and casually replied, "It's not a favor...message mein ticket fare hoga...you can pay me back"

When she looked at him stunned by his reply, he added, "Kya hua??? Ab nahi hai toh Mumbai mein deh dena...No issues!"

For a moment, she didn't know or was confused about what to reply and then she replied, "But I never asked for a ticket"

He looked at her sarcastically, "If that's the case, you too have said and done things which I never asked for Miss Ishita Iyer"

She knew he was meaning what she had done for Ruhi and also the parenting lecture to him. She thought for a second and then replied furiously, "OK Fine...Mumbai jaate hi deh doongi..."

Her anger and her stammering for an apt tit for tat reply to him amused him. It was making her face red and her perky nose looked cuter than before. The nose ring on it twinkled in the faint light luring him to it every time he tried to avert his glance off her.

He was confused at his own thoughts and keen observation about her. He surprised himself further by a flirty remark, "Ho hello Jhansi ki rani...doctor hoke bhi itna bhi nahi patha ke itna gussa sehat keliye teek nahi hai..."

Somehow, he couldn't deny the truth that he liked to tease and annoy her. In the process, prolonging the conversation and the time together.

He placed the laptop on the table and came next to her. Placing his arms on her shoulders, he added further, "Do you know what I feel like doing now when I see your nose red in anger, huh?"

She stood bewildered at his sudden gesture. Her logical mind seemed to abandon her at the onslaught of her pouncing heart beats. She stood numbed and dumbed by his antics. He pinched her nose gently and added, "I feel like pinching away that anger with a kiss madrasan"

Her eyes were locked with his and for that brief moment, she stood fixed to her roots, taking in whatever he was doing to her.

The very next instant, the brave woman in her woke up and surpassing all that her heart raced for, she pushed his hands away and smacked him for what he did, "What the hell Raman! You are crossing your limits!"

In her anger, Mr Bhalla had sweetly, cutely transformed to Raman. Only he noticed that change, though.

He merely smiled back at her and said, "I know that but I don't know why I feel that this limit is meant to be crossed madrasan"

She looked at him and she realized that he was quite serious in what he said. It wasn't a mischief or a prank to tease her but she didn't want to commit a hasty mistake to regret later.

There was no one else in that whole place and that knowledge made her more cautious about what he said. The inherent meaning of his words scared her. No she wasn't scared of him but she was scared of her own crazily thundering heart which seemed to madly crave for him. The woman in her who had been so far avoiding a man into her life and who was suppressing herself and her desires suddenly seemed to spring back to life in those few minutes. It had started ever since the night they first met but tonight he was making it all the more difficult for her.

Much to her relief or perhaps despair, he stepped back and sunk back into his chair with his lap top. He didn't look at her but said,

"Good night Miss Ishita Iyer...Go, sleep peacefully!"

Ironically the peace she felt at those words weren't relieving her heart's disappointment. She walked back to her room. Shutting herself in, she double checked the bolts of the door. She couldn't trust herself tonight.

She didn't delay but just crashed into the bed pulling the duet over her head expecting that sleep would overpower her and her unwarranted thoughts.

But little did she know, sleep and peace were already gone, all thanks to Mr Raman Kumar Bhalla.

I know the changes in them and precap confuses you but yes, from here on the story gets a little twisted. I am not sure if many would like it but thats how I perceived this story line. Hopefully all of u will like it! 😊
