The second time can be explained with the "heir & spare" practice which almost all Royals follow. But why the 3 more spares??

Because it was Pandu's wish. Pandu wanted to get more sons. Epic says that there was a prophecy after Yudhi's birth saying that he will be greatest Dharma gyani and truthful and King. So after few days Pandu thought, I need a mighty son too, only a Dharma gyani is not enough. And so on. But here we cannot have the prophecy. So I am planning to bring an astrologer who will make Yudhi's birth chart and will tell Pandu-Kunti that your baby will be so and so. Then Pandu may want more sons. Personally I like the theory that Pandu wanted 4 more sons to protect his firstborn from 4 sides 😳 power is needed to protect Dharma.

A crack theory...

In some books that I have read about Ramayan & MBH the authors often say that the Vanars, Dev, Gandharva, Apsara, Yaksha, etc were people from different lands. What we would call foreigners? Land unexplored & unknown to our heroes. Travelers.

Maybe Yaksha can be one such traveler from a far off land who once came upon the brothers. Travelers have their supplies, food, water & all. Now travelers are often enthusiastic about learning about the culture & thought processes of the people, philosophies, beliefs of the new lands they travel to. He comes across the other brothers who ask him for water as there is not a source of drinking water anywhere nearby. For whatever reason he refuses them, they get in to a fight & he knocks them unconscious. When Yudi comes he tells yudi that he killed his brothers. Yudi need not know that his brothers are just unconscious & not dead. He needs to get his brothers bodies back but the Yaksha has questions for him. If he answers them he gets back each brother at a time. Hence he answers all the questions which this Yaksha poses before him? Rather than a test, its more of a discussion. He is thirsty for knowledge. The brothers for water. They exchange their resources...and go about their own way😛

Good idea 😃
But why will he have to lie to earn knowledge? I think Yudhi would be more than happy to educate him 😆 (Atleast I am sure Sema's portrayal will be that way.)

The third spare of Kunti, no answer. But Madri may have wanted children of her own and hence Pandu asked her also for Niyog?

But we still need to solve the mystery about why on Earth Pandu left his kingdom when there was no curse?

I thot someone mentioned int he previous pages that may be he was impotent. To hide the fact and for Niyog, he went to the forest. that makes sense.

Brishti and The.lannister, both your ideas are great! Thank you a lot! I want to use that one which will express more goodness in Yudhi's character, i.e, which will glorify him more. As yaksha prashna is my second most favourite after Geeta, and I believe it was a place of Yudhi's undoubted glorification, I would like to show him as glorified as possible at least in that part.

My theory re: Pandu leaving. He did not want the palace to find out that he had a performance problem. Men and their egos as my Satyavati said.😆
Also some say Parth's real daddy was Pandu. He somehow managed after the heir and the spare.

Madri, because she needed kids and they were twins.

ya right. even MBH says that after Kunti got her 3 Madri envious of Kunti becoming a mother asked Pandu for children too & he asked Kunti to tell Madri the mantra
