a drabble 😉

Abhi charged up the stairs of Mehra mansion, ignoring Robin's puzzled glance and Taiji's questions. He burst into his bedroom, and was savagely satisfied to find Pragya at her dresser, brushing her hair.

He grabbed her arm and pulled her up to face him. "Chashmish! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!" he yelled.

Pragya shook free of his hold and backed away from him. She was not surprised that he was randomly shouting at her, as he had developed quite a habit of this in the short course of their misunderstanding-based marriage. Most days she just let him rant until he accidentally revealed whatever silly thing had confused him, and then he stopped yelling on his own and sheepishly went away. He never apologized, but for the next few hours he would avoid her, and then after that he would be unusually polite. But then something else would happen and the cycle would start again.

Pragya clucked her tongue. "Uff ho, what now rockstar? You tell me, what have I done?" she asked impatiently.

"You! You! Tanu is pregnant!" Abhi blurted.

Pragya raised her eyebrows. "Umm...congratulations?"

"This is not funny Chashmish! Why did you do this!"

"Why did I do what?"

"You did your black magic and now this gigantic mussibaat has come into our lives! Do you know what will happen if Daadi finds out!"

"Hey hey hey, wait one minute. You're blaming me? I had nothing to do with this!"

"It had to be you!"

"You're not making any sense. It couldn't possibly have been me. You do understand how babies are made, right?"

"Of course I do but I know that Tanu and I haven't done that in months, so it had to be you, you must have cast some spell, or maybe -"

"Do you seriously believe in magic?! All this time I thought it was another one of your outrageous jokes. Really!! There's no such thing as magic!"

"But there must be, otherwise how can there be this baby! I'm telling you Chashmish, I didn't do it, so it had to be you!"

"Who knows, maybe you did and you just don't remember? I don't know where you are at nights, you could be doing anything. If Tanu says it was you, it was probably you."

"Hey, what are you implying about Tanu! Tanu is not just my girlfriend, she is my old friend, alright? She's not going to trap me with someone else's baby. In fact that's more what you would do!"

"That's not fair! I said that Tanu's telling the truth naa!"

"Chashmish, I can't deal with this. If Daadi finds out that Tanu is going to have my baby, it will be a disaster. Undo your magic right now! Make her unpregnant!"

"Abhishek! What awful things you say. I can't do that. If you want that, see a doctor!"

"Why do you always have to cause problems in my life! Honestly Chashmish you -" Abhi's sentence was cut off as his phone started to beep. He quickly picked it up, and the message he read clearly filled him with relief.

"Oh thank God!" Abhi collapsed onto the bed. "It was a false alarm!"
