"You want to bring her now? Did maa agree?", Jalal asked.
Moti couldn't answer this question instantly and tension played on her face hearing her brother in law's question.
After some time she said slowly, "I've asked maa about this. Though she still didn't approve this plan but due to her happiness with her Kailash tour it seems that maa will give her consent soon. And in the coming two three months when maa won't be here, she can easily come and live here for some days."
Jalal understood that even if she doesn't get the permission, Moti wants to bring her sister in their house on the occasion of her mother in law's Kailash tour.
He asked, "Tumhare kaka kya Brahmo Samaj ka hai?"

"Nahi. Par Hindu samaj bhi unhe aapnate nahi hai. I don't think they themselves know where they belong. But still days are passing like this.", Moti answered with a tinge of sadness in her otherwise cheerful voice.
This is the condition of many. Jalal got angry but hiding his anger he said, "I've no problem going to Bombay to bring her but I'll advise you not to bring her here when maa is here. You know her na, may be she'll make such a drama with her touching and eating issues, that you'll be ashamed of bringing her here. It'll be better that when we'll be away, then send someone else to bring her. That'll be better in all respects."
Even Moti knew that this was a good advice but when she herself wrote a letter to bring them here, then in which way she can stop them didn't come to her mind.
She said, "it's not that I'm telling this as she's my sister, but she's a true gem in beauty and qualifications."

"Their behavior may seem to be bad from outside, but if maa stays with her for even two days, she won't be able to stop herself from loving her."
"Par wo do din hi to maa ko dikhana mushkil hai. She won't see those two days and this is the truth.", Jalal said exasperated.
"But maa will be able to see her beauty. She won't be able to refuse that.", Moti said.
Jalal kept quiet while Moti continued, "I've a faith that nobody in this world can ignore Jodha. Not even Maa."
Jalal asked surprised, "JODHA!! I think I've heard that name before. Was it in the newspaper... I think I've seen a photo..."
Jalal couldn't complete his sentence as a servant entered the room, "Bouma, you're here? Tumhari koi kaka unki beti ko lekar Bombay se aya hai. Bahar koi nahi hai. Bada sahab bhi nahi aur Sarkar sahab unhe niche bithaya hai."
The incident is totally unexpected.
"Ayay!!!! Kya bol rahi hai tu?", shouting after the maid Moti ran outside closely followed by Jalal.

A middle aged man dressed in a perfect
English men's wear was sitting in a
chair and standing beside him, a girl of
twenty-twenty one years was
observing the photo of Jagadhatri Devi
hung from the nearby wall with
extreme concentration. Though the
dress she was wearing can not be
categorised as a fully European one
but still it was not one to be worn by
Bengali girls of her age. She was
extremely fair with a lean tall body
and an extremely beautiful angelic
face. The description of this girl that
Moti gave to her brother in law saying
that Hamida also wouldn't be able to
ignore her beauty - though not proven
but still she wouldn't be able to deny
it. A sister is ought to proud of another
sister possessing such a beauty.
Entering the room, Moti first took
blessing from the elder man by
touching his feet and said, "Uncle, now
at last you have got the time to visit
your daughter?"
The man stood up and touched Moti's head as a gesture of giving blessings.

After giving blessings, he answered with happiness spread on his face, "Yes. Now I remembered. Kya kabhi ek din bhi iss kaka ko bulai thi yaha ki mana karunga? Kabhi aane ko bola? Jab aya hu, tab pranam karke aise bol rahi hai jaise tu hume kitna yaad karti hai... Who's he?", he asked looking towards Jalal.
Moti turned back to see who was addressed and said, "He's my brother in law, Jalal."
Jalal joined his hands and showed respect keeping a distance. Jodha took blessings from her elder sister and asked laughing, "Oh! He's that sinner? For whom your Zamindari is almost on the verge of breaking... You wrote in that letter. The dangerous swadeshi?"
"When did I write that?", Moti asked feigning innocence.
"In your last letter you wrote.", Jodha answered.
"No. I haven't written. You may have mistaken.", Moti shook her head violently while refusing to accept the blame.

Jalal till now was under a hesitation of how to speak in front of an unknown girl. He couldn't understand what to say or what to do in front of her. He didn't have any such experience before... but this newly arrived girl's ease to talk with him made him comfortable.
He answered Jodha with a smile, "You're correct. Boudi forgot what she wrote. But there's no gain fighting over this."
He looked towards Moti and asked feigning anger, "All my powers are because of you and these words were there in your letter? It's okay when you all are leaving me, then I'm also ready to leave you all. Today I'm ready to quit all my rights. Tumhare zaminadari humesha aise hi rahe. Ek baar apne zubaan se keh do... aaj hi lawyer ko bulake sab kaam kar dunga. She'll be the proof. See whether I can do it?"
Uncle looked up and asked, "Moti, your brother in law is a terrific swadeshi?"
"Ha. Terrific."
"If you say, he'll leave all?"
"Ha, he can. Nothing is impossible for him."
