Recently, we had reported that biopic of Bhupen Hazarika is on track. Kalpana Lajmi, who will be the creative director of the film, revealed that she is planning to approach Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh or Saif Ali Khan to play the lead role in the film. Lajmi said, "We should go on the floors by November. I will be the creative director. My script is locked."
Earlier, Prosenjit Chatterjee was supposed to play the lead role. Talking about it, Kalpana said, "Yes, he was, but his name wasn't getting me any financers. I need someone more saleable, so now I'll approach Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh or Saif Ali Khan to play Bhupenda."
When she was asked who will be playing her role in the film, she said, "There are numerous talented actresses around, I'm sure I'll find a suitable girl. Pooja Bhatt was to do the role initially but the deal didn't work out."
