I agree with you there Return-to-Hades.
Russel came across as obnoxious, Aamir a hypocrite and Subhash K jha is always a suck up anyway. So I will have to stay in the Team STFU Russel. Just because of his derogatory remarks against Aamir as a professional actor.Imagine if some of our desi actors had said something like this. I don't think they would have been spared.

That's a very slippery slope. Who's to decide what is appropriate or not? Who's to decide what is done with malicious intent or not? Who decides where the line is where something is okay or not?
What is too obnoxious where the freedom of speech must be snatched away? Where is the line and who decides? There is no "but" where something like freedom of speech is concerned. Maybe some people don't like cusses. Maybe some people don't like gay humor. Maybe someone doesn't like anything derogatory said about their religion. There can be millions of things different people are offended by.The only other choice is a completely sanitized world where nobody can say anything lest someone's sensitive ears start burning with offense.
"Seriously, who is he, the so-called artist, to say that he found it violent and that AIB and rest involved should have been responsible? He did not even see it! Someone please ask him to shut up and take care of his own business," says the Canadian funnyman of Indian origin.
Russell, who was scheduled to perform in the capital on Saturday night, further slammed Aamir for remarking without knowing. "He is an actor; not even a real artist. He goes in front of the camera and reads out lines that someone else has written. Then, he is giving his opinion about something that is honest!"
It's just funny coz you're here defending Russel's right to speak, when he's basically saying Aamir doenst have the right to speak and mind his own business. See the problem?
And freedom of speech means insulting an actor this way? You're trying to turn this into an "people are getting offended coz how dare he insult the great Aamir" when it's simply, he was rude to an actor in such an obnoxious and blatant manner. I don't care if it was Aamir, if Russel had said this about Nana Pategar, Naseerudin Shah, or any other respected actor of India, I would have stood against him.
Then wow, maybe we should all get up and applause Abhijeet next time he disses Atif Aslam and Shafqat Amanat Ali and says that all Pakistani singers are crap right? 👏 to freedom of speech

So what, though? Yes, he was rude. So what? You can call him rude which you and many people are. That's your right. It doesn't mean there should be any government action trying to stop him from speaking just because some people dislike what he says.
Similarly Abhijeet has every right in the world to complain about Pakistani singers if he wants. You don't have to like it and you can insult him in return but nobody can take away his right to say what he wants. It's not about agreeing or disagreeing. Everyone is free to do that. But they should not have FIRs and prison threats and harassment from the government for it and thereby forcing them to stop speaking.
Freedom of speech means being able to say whatever you want, regardless of how unpopular it might be, without government intrusion and threats. That is a basic human right and it should be protected.
