True, Manik was always emotionally detached from Alya. As I stated in Mais post, I never saw Alya being happy and carefree and just herself with him the way she is with Dhruv. I realized that when Manik needed consoling or a shoulder to lean upon or someone to just hear him out, Alya was never there but instead sent Dhruv. That simply showed how emotionally disconnected both of them are from each other and what else would you expect from them. They say its seven years of relationship. if it is so then they must have turned in during their 6th or 7th grade. Now do you expect these kids to know what love is all about, then? It is plain infatuation and not love from either side.

Yes had Nandini not arrived the break up would have postpone to few years but would have been there for sure. If not Nandini then someone else. With the arrival of Nandini, Manik realized what it is to have a person in front of whom you can lay your bare self. Nandini has always been his emotional anchor. She has been at the receiving end of his extreme emotions. Alya saw that, she realized that Nandini was able to do what she couldn't do in those seven years. Connect to Manik emotionally, and the thought of that was enough to scare her.

Here, Alya is not in for a huge heart break as per me for it is only infatuation. She might go upset but won't be heart-broken. Probably the reason why she is handling herself so well unlike girls who actually shared a love relationship with someone for 7 years.
