PART 8 : ALONE IN THE DESERT

"taani..." All three of them looked at the end of the corridor to see swayam's mom standing there with an emotionless face... Taani was shocked to see her aunt there and was more shocked after realizing that swayam's mom has heard everything they were saying...

Swayam wiped his tears and ran to his mom...right from the childhood , whenever swayam felt guilty and sad , he used to go and cry in his mother's lap and his mother always consoled and pampered him...

As he was about to hug his mom , she stepped back... He was shocked...

"mom..." he whispered as a drop of fresh tear fell down...

"mat bulao mujhe mom... Mera koi beta nahi hai..." She said coldly...

"aunty...ek minute aap humare baat to sun li jiye..." Rey came forward to calm her down...

"nahi rey... tu bhi kuch mat bol... ise agar tu support karega to tu aaj meri nazron mein gir jayega..." she scolded rey...

"nahi aunty..i am not supporting swayam... I know whatever he did is not right is not justified...but lets at least hear his part of the story..." rey tried to reason...

"his part of the story??? We have already heard that... Kya keheta tha ye??? Mai Sharon se apne aap se bhi zyada pyaar karta hoon???? Aisa pyaar jisme ek pal mein hi Sharon par se varosa uth gaya uska... Usne zaruri nahi samjha ek baar Sharon se baat karne ki??? Zaruri nahi samjha sach janne ki...Sharon se puch ne ki???? Pyaar karta hai na ye sharon se??? to ek bar bhi ye nahi aya dimaag mein ki Sharon aisa kuch nahi kar sakta...kabhi nahi..." her mom shouted...

"mom I didn't know what to do...taani aur rey ki shaadi ek din mein tha aur maine wo sab jab suna to mujhe samjh nahi aya ki kya karoon... sahi galat kuch samjh mein nahi ayamujhe bas taani aur rey ki khushiyan sambhalni thi... aur upar se mai Sharon ko bhi khona nahi chahta tha... I wanted to make sure k wo mere paas rahe... I love her ma..." as he finished the sentence his mother slapped him hard across his face...

"galti se bhi maat kehena that u love her...pata hai kya... aaj mujhe sharm a rahi hai tumhe apna beta mante hue..." she finally broke down...taani came and hugged her tight and swayam staggered back with tears in his eyes...

He was sitting on the bench holding his hair in a fist..the operation was till going on and suddenly he felt someone touch his shoulder... He looked up to see taani standing there with a bottle of water...she was holding the bottle in front of him as if indicating him to drink it... As much as taani was shocked with swayam's behavior, he was her brother... She loved him more than he can imagine...right from the childhood his brother had given her everything before she could even wished for them...his brother has always protected her from all the evils...n being the younger one taani could only offer swayam with love and care...

Swayam held the bottle and took a sip... As taani was about to move away he held her wrist...

"taani..." he whispered... Taani looked at him with an emotionless face...

"taani pls ..." he cried... Taani frees her wrists from swayam's hand and looked staright into his eyes...

"apne jo Sharon bhabi ke sath kiya...wohi agar rey mere saath karte to aap kya karte????" this one question left swayam numb... he would have killed rey... he wouldn't have thought for a second that rey was his best friend if he would do such a thing to taani...

He felt more guilty and broken as the realization that he had broken Sharon dawned upon him...

He sat there on the bench and cried his heart out...

His taani didn't consider him as her brother...

His mom didn't consider him as her son...

His sister hated him

His mom hated him

And now even Sharon will hate him...his Sharon will hate him... with each passing second the pain in his heart was choking him to death... his guilt , his pain , his fear of losing all his closed ones broke him from the seams...

He had only one expectation now... With a lot of hope he looked at his brother... His best friend... REY...

Rey didn't know what to do... Right from the time he came to know why swayam married Sharon , he was shocked and guilty... He knew whatever swayam did was for his happiness... he knew swayam loved him and taani like anything and can even give his life... But then another part of him questioned what gave swayam the right to his best friend , his doll Sharon like this... as much as wanted to go and take swayam in his arms and give him all the comfort , another part constantly kept reminding that swayam was responsible that his Sharon was now fighting with her life in the operation theatre...

He knew swayam was broken to see Sharon like this in the hospital but he also knew that swayam was responsible...

He knew swayam needed him the most now but he also knew Sharon needed swayam the most when swayam chose to leave her all alone...

Rey found swayam looking at him with a lot of hope... Hope that he would understand him..hope that he would not hate him...

He didn't know what to do... he was too hurt himself that he looked away... that broke all the last thread swayam had in himself...

He has lost everyone... The final realization hit him hard...
