Shah Rukh Khan Grapples With A Tiger!

Yes, you heard right, it really happened in Mumbai! However, before you get too excited, it was for a scene in Farah Khan's Om Shanti Om.

As you may be aware, Shah Rukh Khan plays a struggling actor in the psychedelic 70's. For one of the big dramatic scenes, King Khan (funny wig and all) had to grapple with a tiger, a la Dharmendra, but thankfully it wasn't real!

A major part of the shoot was completed last month and once Shah Rukh Khan wraps the remaining episodes of KBC, Om Shanti Om is expected to move outdoors.

The film is all set to release during the last quarter of 2007.

Preity Zinta's dare devil stunts

Preity Zinta is certainly looking forward to a change of image.

In one such measure, she is now being seen as an action woman in the latest promo of telecom giant BSNL who have roped her as their brand ambassador. She is shown to be flying and kicking in perfect synch while wearing black robes to create a Hollywood appeal.

On Bollywood front, after a disappointing run of JAANEMAN last year, she is gearing for some better times in 2007 with contrasting films like Shaad Ali's JHOOM BARAABAR JHOOM and Rituparno Ghosh's THE LAST LEAR. While the former has Abhishek Bachchan in the lead, the latter has Amitabh Bachchan in a pivotal role.

To complete the superstar circle, she would also be making a special appearance as herself in Shahrukh Khan's OM SHANTI OM.

Want a walk-on? it's yours! Abhishek Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan at the Filmfare Awards

Unit members of Farah Khan's Om Shanti Om were surprised to see a particular guest on their sets a few days ago.

Even as the alleged war between Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan continues to gain momentum, the ever-courteous Abhishek Bachchan dropped by the sets in Film City to meet Shah Rukh and Farah.

Cordial vibes

Says an eyewitness present on location, "Abhishek was shooting for an ad film for Motorola in Film City, very close to where OSO was being shot, so he dropped by to meet SRK and Farah.

They exchanged pleasantries and chatted for about 15 minutes before Abhishek left."

Cameo king

The source adds that the vibes between the trio were warm and cordial.

"It was a spontaneous decision by Abhishek to drop by Farah's sets.

Whenever Shah Rukh and the Bachchans have met at social events, they have been cordial with each other. In fact, Farah and SRK are very fond of Abhishek and were keen that he do a cameo in their film.

When Abhi came to the sets, Farah asked him to play a walk-on part and he has agreed. Karan Johar, Subhash Ghai and Rishi Kapoor are some of the other people who are doing cameos in the film."

Farah, who is down with a cold and a throat infection, was unavailable for comment. But a source close to Shah Rukh confirms, "Yes, it's true Abhishek dropped in to meet Farah and SRK. Later, SRK and Farah also dropped by Abhishek's set after wrapping up shooting for the day."

Abhishek met Shah Rukh at ….!

Contrary to the rumours that Bachchans are not in good relationship with Bollywood king Shah Rukh Khan, Jr. Bachchan recently dropped by the 'Om Shanti Om' sets in Film City just to meet Shah Rukh Khan.

"Abhishek was shooting for an ad film for Motorola in Film City, very close to where Farah Khan was shooting 'Om Shanti Om', so he dropped by to meet SRK and Farah. They exchanged pleasantries and chatted for about 15 minutes before Abhishek left," says an eyewitness present at the location.

"Apparently the vibes between the two was warm and cordial. It was a spontaneous decision by Abhishek to drop by Farah's sets," added the man.

Abhishek also has played a cameo in the film. 'Om Shanti Om' stars Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and Arjun Rampal in the leads.

King Khan gets a WOBBLER!

If there's anyone who can place an order and get it delivered at lightning speed, it has to be Shah Rukh Khan.

We are told the actor is the proud owner of an amazingly popular fitness machine called the Power Plate.

A source close to the actor reveals, "Shah Rukh heard about this gadget from some friends and even read about it on the internet.

As soon as he realised it was one of the most popular workout machines in the world right now, he placed an order and got it delivered from abroad."

Well-defined look

Presently working out to get in shape for Farah Khan's Om Shanti Om, we are informed that SRK works out on the Power Plate every time he trains with his personal trainer Prashant. When quizzed, Prashant confirms it for us.

"Yes, Shah Rukh owns the machine and loves working out on it. In fact, it has been quite helpful in giving him that chiselled look that we are trying to work out for Om Shanti Om."

Calling the Power Plate a huge hit with A-list celebrities abroad, Prashant adds, "Madonna is a regular user of this machine. The best thing about the plate is that it uses the principles of body vibrations to enhance fitness and well being."



Real hard worker

When asked how often Shah Rukh uses it, the trainer says, "We work on one particular part of the body at a time.

With the machine you can focus your biceps, triceps or zoom in on any one particular body part. It's really effective and the results are also visible. In fact, a lot of sportsmen incorporate body vibrations in their fitness programs."

Prashant is thrilled to work with Khan and calls him a real hard-worker. "It's amazing to see the amount of energy and time he spends on preparing himself for a role.

I get inspired looking at him work on his body!" Prashant runs his own gym called Body Sculptures, where he works with actors such as Aftab Shivdasani, Amisha Patel, Adnan Sami and Nagma.

The buzz is that the Power Plate is one of the most expensive workout gadgets, costing anywhere between Rs 2-3 lakh. In fact, the device has yet to be launched officially in the country, but there are a few exclusive clients that own it.

Abhishek Bachchan pays a visit to Shah Rukh Khan

This one incident makes you doubt all the rumours about the rift between the Bachchans and Shah Rukh Khan.

For many months now, much has been speculated in the media about a possible cold war between Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan . Not just the Big B, it was even alleged that the entire Bachchan family was unhappy with the way SRK has been making some statements in the media and in award functions.

But a recent visit by Abhishek Bachchan to Shah Rukh Khan scorches such allegations.

It is learnt that Abhishek was shooting for a Motorola ad film in Mumbai's Film City when he decided to meet Shah Rukh and Farah Khan who were shooting their movie Om Shanti Om nearby.

Sources say Abhishek and Shah Rukh were very friendly during the meeting that lasted a little less than half an hour. Abhishek has also agreed to play a cameo in 'Om Shanti Om'.

Later, Shah Rukh and Farah also visited Abhishek on the sets of the ad film.

Sources say that the vibes between SRK and Abhi were very cordial.

This good ol' Kapoor (okay Rishi, we mean old in only years, we know you're still so young at heart), who was recently seen in Namastey London, is completely floored by Shah Rukh Khan. The once upon a time most adorable on-screen lover-boy – Rishi, we mean - has been roped in by Farah Khan to do a cameo in Om Shanti Om. Shakira's item number in Om Shanti Om?

Choreographer turned director Farah Khan made headlines when she composed a Bollywood style 'Hips Don't Lie' for pop sensation Shakira in a US concert. And now, Farah is rumoured to be doing it again – with Shakira performing an item number in her upcoming flick Om Shanti Om!

However, Farah is maddened by false hearsays about her film. Contrary to wandering gossips, she asserts, "Shakira is not doing an item number in my film. This is just a rumour". This piece of rumour could have taken its roots from Shakira coming down to India for a concert on Sunday, 25th March.

She writes this off as hogwash, exclaiming, "I don't know who is spreading all this!"

Farah's younger brother Sajid Khan, who is completing Hey Baby, has been the victim of gossip mongers as well. Hey Baby is rumoured to have a special dance number by Farah's close friend, actor Shah Rukh Khan! An apathetic Sajid responds to this saying, "No comments."

There is already one item number which was shot for Hey Baby last year, which features Ritesh Deshmukh, Akshay Kumar and Fardeen Khan being flanked by Bollywood babes Amisha Patel, Koena Mitra, Dia Mirza, Shamita Shetty, Neha Dhupia, Malaika Arora, Amrita Arora, Amrita Rao, Tara Sharma, Minissha Lamba, Riya Sen and Sophie Choudhary.

Actor Samapika Debnath tells Ruman Ganguly that acting with Shah Rukh Khan was like a dream come true

Were you interested in acting from your childhood?

• It was my childhood dream to be on celluloid one day. I was into cultural activities ever since I was a school kid. I acted in school plays, did dance shows and stage shows. I was passionate about acting to the point of being obsessive.

How did you get the opportunity to act in Shah Rukh Khan's production? What's your role in the film, Om Shanti Om?

• I was the winner of a talent hunt organised by a giant cola company and which is how I got the opportunity to work in SRK's production, Om Shanti Om, directed by Farah Khan. The story is set in the 70s and I play the role of an upcoming actor in the film. The story is about SRK's life, how he struggled to reach stardom right from scratch.

How was your experience of working with SRK?

• He is the real King Khan. Sharing the spotlight with an actor of his calibre is really a blessing. He is a man with dollops of talent and oodles of confidence. He can drive you crazy with his charisma, but he is also so very down-to-earth.

What did he tell you after your first shot?

• He saw the shot on the monitor and said, "You are doing quite well as a newcomer. Keep it up.". I was on Cloud Nine after this. The whole crew was happy with me as I didn't have to give a single retake. SRK also said that no one gets instant stardom, one has to work hard for it and also believe in oneself.

How was Farah Khan as a director?

• She was friendly and very helpful. Farahji also said that I look like Kajal Kiran on screen and encouraged me a lot.

Did you work in Tollywood?

•I have done music videos and anchored two non-fiction programmes. I acted in serials like Projapotai Namoo, Astha and Akash Kusum. I have also done telefilms. I have acted in Bappaditya Bandhopadhyay's Kaal and Nirmalaya Banerjee's Nil Choke Akash. Added to that, I have acted in a Bhojpuri film called Tor Kiriya.

Are you interested in acting in Hindi serials?

• Surely, I will try. But I am interested in films rather than serials as I always felt that my face and body language are ideal for the big screen.

What's your goal in life?

•My aim is not to become the numero uno heroine as I want to do noteworthy roles for which my audience will remember me forever.
