Past Continuation... After three months

It's final year for Arnav and NK. Since the college started again, Arnav was busy with his studies. And NK and Rashi were busy with their blooming love story, dinners and long drives. Knowing Arnav's dream of going to Harvard, these two decided to not disturb him and left him to his books and library.

Whenever Arnav told NK to study, he used to tell that he will refer to Arnav's notes as it will have every single detail and kept spending most of his time with his girlfriend.

Obe day while they were returning from a dinner on Arnav's bike, Shyams friends attacked NK and Rashi. They stopped the bike and pushed Rashi to the side and hit NK so badly. NK fought back with them until he got hit on his back of head. Next minute NK got unconscious with lot of blood oozing out.

All of those men left them alone and went away. Shyam tried many times to attack NK and Arnav but he failed every time. That's why this time Shyam planned to attack NK when he was not with Arnav and he was succeeded this time. But he forgot to think about the consequences.

When Arnav was informed about the attack by Rashi from hospital, he controlled himself from not losing his temper, but he couldn't control Rashi who hugged him and crying badly. He tried to console her but she didn't stop until the doctor came to check NK.

Next Morning, Arnav first gave a complaint to the principal and then kept a police case on Shyam and his friends. Seeing NK with all the bruises, Arnav's blood boiled and decided to take this matter seriously and fight until they get deserved punishment.

After the investigation, Shyam and some of his friends got arrested and also they got expelled from the college. That day Shyam decided to avenge them by spoiling their lives just like as they did to him.

For the Arnav's dismay, they got released within a month by the influence of one of his friend's father.

NK took nearly two months to recover but still he had few visible bruises. When they were sitting in a cafe on his first day of college after the attack, Lavanya gave a surprise visit. Seeing her all of a sudden with them after many days, NK spoke with a surprise, "Guys, are you seeing what I am seeing. Ms. Lavanya is really here or I'm dreaming".

Arnav who was drinking his coffee, stopped sipping it and chuckled out loud. Arnav always forget his tumult when he was around with his friends. They were the only ones who could make him laugh and smile.

But, Rashi, who saw the fallen face of her friend, said, "Stop it guys, look at her. Looks like she came here to talk to us. Give her a chance to speak".

After listening to Rashi, Arnav slowly kept his coffee cup on the table and turned towards Lavanya and asked, "What do you want Lavanya?".

Lavanya finally opened her mouth and answered, "NK, How are you doing now. You won't believe how much I got worried when I heard about the attack. Right then I realized my mistake and how stupid I am to interpret things like that. I am so sorry guys... please forgive me for my stupidity".

When Rashi tried to say something, she stopped her and continued, "I came here to apologize and I promise that I will not bother you anymore. And I promise you that I won't play any games to impress ASR anymore. I am missing you all and the fun I used to have with you. I hope you will let me in one day".

Although NK and Rashi mellowed down, Arnav couldn't believe that lavanya truly changed. Somehow, he felt she was lying, when he was about to react, NK interrupted and said by holding Arnav's clenched fist tight, "It's ok Lavanya. You can join us today itself. Not that you apologized, it's because Rashi loves you so much. And we do anything for her".

Arnav understood that NK was letting Lavanya back only for Rashi and then he relaxed his muscles and calmed himself down. And from that day they started having fun just like before.

Lavanya sincerely tried to stay away from Arnav as she promised. She again moved back to Rashi's room and started being very nice to her. NK totally convinced that Lavanya truly changed.

The calmness and ignorance that Arnav showing towards Lavanya was clearly making her stay away even from talking to him. NK felt very proud of his friend for making her realize that she is not worthy of him without saying one word to her.

Albeit Arnav was not believing her, he had to let her be with them. He kept warning NK and Rashi to be careful with her. But Rashi had complete trust on Lavanya, because of her friendly behaviour since she came back to them. Within no time they both became close as before.

As days nearing the final exams, one day when all four of them met in a cafe, NK revealed a shocking decision, startling all the others, especially Rashi.

"Hey guys I need your attention for few minutes". Arnav gave his signature look by raising his eyebrow at him. Lavanya and Rashi who were gossipping seriously about their classmates looked at him annoyed for the sudden disturbance.

When NK got the full attention from all of them, he smiled and turned to Rashi by holding her hand gently and spoke softly and resolutely, "Rashi, what I am going to ask you right now may surprise you. But I want to do this before you leave to Lucknow for preparation holidays".

Everyone's expressions changed to serious note after NK started his conversation profoundly. Taking a look at all the other audience on the table, NK continued by looking straight into Rashi eyes. "Rashi, please think once before you react".

Rashi's hand which was in his hold trembled unable to anticipate what he was going to say and then she stopped breathing for few seconds when she heard what he said, startling her, "Rashi will you marry me".

Arnav and Lavanya snapped their heads towards him and looked at both of them alternatively seeing the most romantic scene unfolding infront of them. They both felt like aliens who were invading their privacy.

After few minutes, Rashi came out of her shock and voiced, "NK what is this,... so suddenly. You just recovered from the attack. I still have one more year left here and most importantly I still didn't speak to buaji about us".

NK lowered his eyes and looked at their entwined fingers and spoke, "Rashi, I won't be able to meet you often after I am done here. I will be busy with shaping up my career and you with your studies. I don't believe in long distant relations. I want our relationship to last forever Rashi and for that I want to take us to the next step. I will come and talk to your buaji after our exams. We will get engaged first and we can get married after settling in our careers. Think about it".

Rashi was astounded with what NK told. But she has to reveal her concerns before answering him, "NK, I have many responsibilities to fill. I can't marry off and leave Khushi and buaji all alone. Please try to understand me".

NK already expected that from Rashi. After all he knew her very well and he prepared himself very well. "Rashi, proposing a marriage with you means, saying that I am willing to accept you with your family. I don't have any family to take care of me. Your family will be mine and I will share all the responsibilities of them with you. If you have any more doubts about Khushi, we can fix her alliance with Arnav. He won't mind. He will do anything for us. Am I right Arnav".

Arnav who was completely lost in the shock given by NK, finally relaxed his petrified look after NK called him. In order to give his support to his friend, without thinking anything he replied, "Ofcourse Rashi, mein hoon na... Don't worry. I will be there whenever you guys need me". Arnav said Yes, completely oblivious to what NK asked.

Although Rashi knew Arnav didn't hear anything, that thought itself made her very happy. Then she thought, "Hey Devimayya, I really wish it happens. Khushi will be the luckiest girl on this planet if it becomes true. I am sure that I cannot bring better husband than Arnav for Khushi".

She didn't know then that her Devimayya granted her last wish. She didn't know then that NK read her thoughts clearly seeing the happiness on her face. She didn't know then that those will be the last moments she was spending with her friends. She didn't know then that, the smiles on her friends faces will soon be taken away by her.

Completely oblivious to her fate, she replied without even thinking one more second, "Yes.. but"... Looking at the puzzled expression on NK's visage, she clarified, "Yes NK.. I will, but it's all overwhelming to me right now. Somehow, I feel like it is not right time to talk about this. Somehow I am feeling like I am not doing the right thing. I think, may be after talking to buaji about us, I will be fine. Inspite of all these feelings.. Yes...". And then they all celebrated the occasion with more fun, food and loads of smiles.

Next Morning, everyone in the hostels were getting ready to leave to their homes. While NK was forcing Arnav to get ready quickly to meet Rashi before she leaves, their doorbell rang, surprisingly revealing Lavanya at that time.

She was all drenched in sweat and was panting heavily. NK looked back of her and searched for Rashi all the way to the end of the street. When she was nowhere found he questioned her, "Lavanya, where is Rashi".

Lavanya hesitated at first but when NK asked her again she finally revealed, "NK, I don't know what happened. I saw her today morning packing all her stuff. By the time I finished my shower and came back to the room, I didn't find her. I searched the entire hostel but she was nowhere. I am scared NK...do you think she left".

NK who was listening calmly until now was shocked and asked, "Did you check her luggage. Is it there. She doesn't leave without telling us. You might have overlooked".

"NK ... what happened". NK ceased his talking after hearing Arnav's voice. Hearing the screams from the entrance, Arnav came out and found NK talking to Lavanya and got worried looking at their sweating and trembling postures.

When Arnav questioned, Lavanya told everything what she told to NK. But whatever he heard, he felt something was amiss. But he was sure of one thing. something is going to happen. He was feeling that, He felt the same kind of feeling on the day of his parents death.

Thinking various possibilities, Arnav turned towards NK and said, "Come on NK.. we will search for her. She won't go without telling us. There is something fishy in this, I can feel it".

NK nervously followed him and Lavanya joined them and they soon zoomed towards the hostel. Arnav left NK and Lavanya at the hostel and told him to ask everyone where they saw Rashi last time and to search each and every corner of the hostel. And then he wheeled towards the college to search for her.

While Arnav was inquiring about Rashi, one of his classmate came running towards him and said, "Hey Arnav, where were you man, I was searching all over for you". Arnav answered him quickly, "Hey Sid, did you see Rashi anywhere, I am searching for her".

Sid immediately replied, "Arnav I came to tell you about that only. I saw her going with Lavanya and Shyam an hour back. I know the differences you guys had with Shyam. So I noted the car number to inform you".

Listening Shyam's name, Arnav didn't waste a single minute after that. He immediately shooted a series of questions at him, "Where .. where did you see them going Sid, which direction and give me the number, please quick". After taking the information he needed from him, he told him to inform NK about this and zoomed towards that direction in full speed his bike can take him.

After searching for an hour he found the car near an old house in that area. He quickly jumped from his bike and ran into the building and found Rashi lying on the floor curled up like a ball and unconscious in one of the corners. He moved towards her and he took her into his lap and observed her cheeks swelled up and clearly the finger marks are very visible on her both cheeks. His eyes moistened seeing the sight infront of him.

When he was about to lift her up to take her back , he heard Shyam's evil laugh echoing all through the house. Seeing him, Arnav left Rashi onto the floor carefully and strode fiercely towards him and clutched his collar with one hand and raised his fist to punch him. Before his punch touches Shyam, two people came and dragged him back and held him tight.

Shyam smirked at Arnav and looked at Rashi once and started speaking while laughing, "You are very late Arnav. I thought you will do better than this. I tried my best to give you the information in right time. Tsk..Tsk... Poor Arnav. You came alone. Where is your useless sidekick. I thought you both will come together to save her from me. If you were here in right time as I planned, you might have gotten a chance. But it is too late now. Rashi became Mrs. Rashi Shyam already. But she refused to kiss her husband and got what she deserved. You should appreciate me Arnav for my amazing plan. I hit three birds with one stone. Wah what a plan Shyam, you are genius".

Then only Arnav noticed the mangalsutra hanging on her neck. And his fists and jaws clenched tight imagining the struggle she went through protesting this animal.

Shyam laughed loud more evilly and changed his tone into serious note in the next moment and said, "Now what you will do Arnav. How will you save her from me Arnav. With whom you will complain Arnav".

Flaring his nostrils, Arnav shouted back, "Wait and watch how I will take her back, you bas***d". Hearing that Shyam strode towards him and held Arnav's collar and punched him hard in his stomach.

Arnav tried to release himself from their stronghold. But it was of no use. Shyam gave him couple of more punches in his stomach and Arnav yelped in pain. Hearing those loud yelps, Rashi moved and tried to pull herself up and winced with pain.

Noticing her moving, Arnav gathered all his strength and kicked all of the goons who held him tight away. They all flew and fell on the floor far away. He quickly punched Shyam on his nose and made him hit the floor at once.

By the time Syam realized what happened, He quckly ran towards Rashi by picking up the car keys from on Shyam's pocket and lifted her up and ran towards exit.
