"It's not that you can't go there because it's far away from here. It is that you couldn't even get into even if you wanted to..." the Boss continues. They are in a big room high tech room. There are two large flat screen TVs on the walls and dozens of computers on the desks. As Reyansh stands behind the Boss, everybody listens to them.
Reyansh is introduced to the communications department as the MIT-golden-boy, and despite Nakul's(Reyansh's colleague and the same guy who came to take him) efforts to turn him into the traditional workplace newbie, as Reyansh is the youngest at 28. However Reyansh makes it clear that he's not going to be anyone's lackey. His arrogant attitude is condoned by the boss as Reyansh informs them that he doesn't work overtime and puts his feet on the table.
Inside Lead Agent's Office...
"What do you mean, don't go the camp?" Taani asked all confused. After the roll call, Taani and her colleague, Roshini, were called in his office. "Are you cancelling our acceptance?" Roshini asked shocked.The lead Agent answered calmly as he sat behind his desk, "Don't be so hasty. The Prime Minister's youngest daughter Ms. Dia Chopra is studying to retake the college exam next year. Her personality... is a bit different from others." The Lead Agent informed them choosing his words wisely. The girls patiently listened.
"Yesterday, two women employees resigned." He told them quietly, letting his words sink in. "I came to serve the President, not the youngest daughter," Roshini complained when she understand the hidden meaning behind his words. "Hey, newcomer. Are you the manager? Are you in a position to do anything you wish?" he ask getting angry. Roshini tried to explain, "That's not what I'm saying, you dream..."
The Manager, interrupted briskly, "Stop talking about your dream! Protecting the president's family is as important as doing so for the president." Getting from his chair, he told them his final decision,"You can go through the internal training next year with next year's newbies." "I'll compress the 6-month-training for you first," he informed them.
Back to The National Securities and Communications Department...
Reyansh is working on his computer. He has his face in his left hand's palm as he does his work. He looks adorable all focused. Just then Nakul passes behind him giving him a scorn but Reyansh doesn't notice. Suddenly somebody called out quietly, "Mr. Reyansh!" It took 2 tries for Reyansh to notice. He look sideways. It is Taani.
She is calling him from the frosted glass door. The symbol of the department is curved on the glass. That part is only glass. Reyansh can see Taani through it.She motioned him to come out. First he stare at her with a bored expression and then turned back to the computer. She knocks again and motioned again to come out. Reyansh sighs closing his eyes and comes out.
In the hallway...
Reyansh suavely walks out with his hands in his pocket. His expression of sheer boredom. Taani quickly hides on the side as the frosted glass door slides open. He looks around sighing.
"I texted you many times for your account number but you never replied," Taani says almost accusingly. "I said it's okay. That amount is like the price of gum to me," Reyansh said brushing it away. Reyansh says turning around, "We're done now right?" Taani reach out and grasped his elbow to stop him.
"Wait. I don't know if you'll be able to chew the $5000 worth of gum, but please let me repay you," she said almost requesting. "Although I can't pay you back at once, I'll regularly pay off the debt, if you just give me your account number," she tells him with a bright smile.
"You won't be able to afford it," he tells her straightforwardly. "I'll pay off as I earn..." Taani tried to explain but Reyansh interrupted, "So you'll have a part time job?" he questions her. Glancing at the door behind him, he tells her, "It's forbidden to hold two jobs." In a low, she tells him with a shy smile, "That... just keep it a secret till I've paid you back."
Reyansh looks at her and then smirks, "It seems like you are trying to DO something with me using this..." and then added in the end cheekily, "You're not my type, okay? Do I have to buy you a mirror too?" Turning around, he mumbles, "You're really reckless." He walks away, leaving her slack-jawed. "Wow, he really pisses me off!" she mumbles as she goes back to work.
A few hours later...
All the guards and the people from the National Security and Communications Department people are gathered in that big room where earlier the guards were getting role call. Everybody is wearing Karate clothes: a white jacket and white pants with a white belt tied above the jacket.
It appears that the communications team and the secret service agents have a little in-house rivalry going on, which they put to a judo-wrestling contest. Reyansh gets paired up with Taani, and he basically lets her body slam the hell out of him, to keep up geeky appearances. She flips him over her shoulder.
As he lies on the mat, he whines holding his right arm. "Give me your account number, so I can pay you back!" Taani insists panting as she moves above him. "I said it's okay," Reyansh tells her as he sits up. "No, I'm going to pay you back," Taani insists as Reyansh stands up again.
"Why are you being so stubborn?" he questions her. Taani doesn't reply rather flips him over her shoulder. While holding his hand behind him, she answers as she holds him down with her body, "Because it was money to save my father's life. He's the most important person to me. He's precious to me, so I don't want a freebie." Reyansh was facing sideways first as he whines and turn towards her. Their faces were inches away from each other but Taani seems clueless of their proximity.
"The more precious it is, the more I must endure and protect it, no matter how hard it is," Taani tells him. Reyansh just looks at her with his intense eyes. His hair slightly messed because of flipping but it gave him a perfect look. "Hurry up and give me your account number, so I can pay you back." Taani insists getting edgy.
Reyansh wets his lips and huskily whispers, "You really are stubborn." Taani, not about to lose, grabs his legs and tangles it with hers twisting it. He cries in pain. Taani doesn't budge. "Okay, I'll give it to you. I'll give it to you," Reyansh finally said giving up. Then only Taani moves away. Reyansh takes a breath of relief. "You have to keep your promise," Taani warns him and walks away.
Later in the shower...
Shower broody time! Reyansh is taking a shower. His back is facing us. Reyansh's back is covered with scars, not surprising given to his militant upbringing, and that he still wears the bullet that pierced his father's heart around his neck. He recalls how he found Taani begging the Doctor to save her Dad. Then he remembers Taani's pictures from years back. With a conclusion that satisfies him, he walks out with a smile.
Later by the pond behind the Parliament House...
All showered and dressed, Reyansh meets Taani. He came with a plan for Taani to repay him. "A contract?" Taani asks looking down on the papers that Reyansh holds out for her. "Oh, well. You say you really want to pay me back. And I'm sure you're going to keep doing night-driver service. So just be my driver," Reyansh told her explaining everything.
Taani takes the papers and look over them. "I haven't been in India long, so do some little things here and there and every time you drive or do work for me I will give you $25. That's around $5000, so 200 times you should do it," Reyansh continues to explain as Taani listens quietly. "200 times?" she exclaimed as he finished.
"Don't you want to?" he ask. "Well, I told you not to do it," he reminds her as he grabs her file and pulls it. Taani instantly pulls it back mumbling, "You're so rash." "where do I have to sign?" she ask him haughtily. "It won't be easy," he tells her bending a little to be in her eye level.
He looks so hot in his check dark brown suit, white shirt and black tie. To add to his hotness, his hair were slightly curly and his bangs were across his forehead slightly covering his eyes giving him a perfect dark aura. "Even if it's not easy, I'm going to try," she tells him confidently. Reyansh points to the place and Taani signs. Just then they both get phone calls telling to come and meet the Prime Minister.
In the Prime Minister's living room...
They both get called in to meet the Prime Minister, and this is the first time that Reyansh comes face to face with him. The sitting Prime Minister is none other than Rajeev Chopra, the man who betrayed his father most directly but Reyansh doesn't know that, yet.
"He's from MIT, Professor Reyansh Singhania. He's the dark horse in Information and Communications," the Manager informed the Prime Minister. "I heard you were heavily scouted in the States. What brings you to Korea?" the Prime Minister ask. He was sitting with his wife and his daughter while Reyansh, his manager, Taani, Roshini and their Manager stand in front of them.
"I have money I will inherit from my rich father, so money is not an object, so I wondered why I should live doing good for another country," Reyansh replied with a smile. Taani glanced at him. Maybe, impressed? The Prime Minister laughs a little,"Ah, you are a patriot." Reyansh replied with a smile, "I'm nothing compared to the President." He stands up as he nods.
"Please take good care of the communication of my country," the Prime Minister tells him with a smile as he comes towards him. He seems like a nice man. He is probably in his late 50's. He has gray hair but he still seems fit. He is wearing a dark gray suit with a white shirt and sky blue tie. He gives Reyansh his hand for handshake and Reyansh obliged with a smile, "I'll do my best."
"These are the new body guards, Taani Shekawat and Roshini Khandelwal," The Manager introduced them while Reyansh kept his gaze downwards. He looks up casually when he saw Dia.
The Prime Minister's youngest daughter is Dia, who basically looks at Reyansh and down like the tall drink of water that he is, and throws him her best come-hither wink. Reyansh nearly busts a gut with his very audible "Pffft!" right back at her.
She tries to engage him in conversation, but he ignores her completely and gets the hell out of dodge. Taani and her partner, Roshni, get introduced to their charge, the bratty Dia, who is post-high-schol, pre-college (as in, couldn't get in so she's going to an academy to reapply). She seems like a hellbeast trapped in the body of a girl.
In the end of the introductions, a man walks in and announces to the Prime Minister, "Mr. Prime Minister, Assemblyman Preet Singh is on hold." This didn't go unnoticed by Reyansh as notes it with interest. The Prime Minister finish off his conversation with the guards and quickly leaves. With that note, everybody else also leaves.
Later in the day...
Google Hangout in the car...
Reyansh takes a moment to give a progress report to Dad. He reports on Senator Preet Singh, he is of the clean image and dirty money. Dad tells him that the senator must be dealt with. Reyansh asks something that he's been curious about: why has he only given him the identity of one of the five men he's to take out?
Dad tells him that of the Big Five, he knows only one person's identity for sure: Preet Singh. Dad tells him to start with Preet Singh, and make him reveal the identity of the others. Reyansh asks what Dad's purpose was in sending him to the Parliament. He brushes his question away saying he will get opportunity to get all the information
Reyansh tells him that he wants to find a way to destroy Preet Singh that he can live with, like getting him caught for doing something that people will never forgive him for. Dad seems pleased with his initiative, so he plans to stand by and let Reyansh call the shots. Or is he?😉
