there is a mis information here... they havent disclosed which wonder got the most votes... so i dont think tajmahal is in the first place

My opinions might hurt many of the people around here. But I strongly feel that this seven wonders thing poll was purely a GIMMICK to mint money.

I personally feel that you cannot judge beauty with a "poll". Seven Wonders of the World shouldn't be decided with a poll. Instead, they should do the same with a survey of how the wonders are actually maintained, the ease or the difficulties which the visitors face over there and so on.

It's great that Taj Mahal has gained the No.1 spot but just in case, Taj wouldn't have made it to the Top 7, would that have made the Taj less beautiful than the others ??

Does Taj Mahal really need a "poll" to "prove" it's beauty ???? Most importantly, is the Taj so ordinary that it even needs to "prove" anything to the world ??

All the monuments around the world including our very own Taj weren't BUILT so that they could compete in a competition to be the Seven Wonders of the World ! They were built with a strong abstract base of "feelings" , be it romance, hatred or whatever.

And who actually benefitted from this poll ?? Alright, the Taj made it to the Seven Wonders ! but is the money which billions of people spent actually gonna be used in the maintenance of the Taj ? Or is it gonna fill the pockets of some established businessmen of the country and in broader aspects, the world ?

On a more personal note, I DON'T CARE A DAMN WHETHER THE TAJ MADE IT TO THE SEVEN WONDERS OR NOT, coz I "KNOW" that the Taj's grace, beauty and charm will keep on attracting more and more visitors even if it isn't a so-called "wonder".....

I actually don't believe in this concept of "Seven Wonders"......why only seven ??? all the monuments made on earth are "wonders" .......why give more importance to only SEVEN of them ????

It's sad to see the horrible sight of "commercialization taking over beauty".

yeah aditya....even i had read sumwhere that this poll is just a private poll and UNESCO has nothing to do with this...

ur rite....taj need not to prove itz beauty and significance....BUT...this challenge was thrown infront of the whole world....and we have managed to win it...whether or not we believe itz true, and/or whether or not taj needs to prove anything...we styl showed how much power taj has and how much love we have for our monument!! and we shud be proud of that....who cares about if it counts or not, no? 😊

about the money part...well even religion has become a business now unfortunately ...so i wont blame business for trying to make business...

That's good news. But I don't believe in this online voting thingy. Indians are everywhere around the world and they are the most enthusiast voters. Remember, Amitabh Bachchan was selected for the actor of the millenium conducted by BBC few years back? While I agree AB is one fantastic actor, there are 10's of actors who are outstanding in hollywood.
