Divi,

Lovely post, and I don't want to be the drop of lime juice in a bowl of yummy kheer, but, the treatment of the entire girl child issue has been really um uncomfortable.

I am a history buff but, no expert so help me someone, I don't know if Bakshi ever had a child, but, if female infanticide is the route CVs take to show this, it's disturbing. I know one can't analyse the medieval era with a 21st century mindset.

And I really feel bad for BB. It's bad enough to be abused by a husband with a roving eye, but, now lying about a child's gender is too much. I really didn't like, the slap especially when she was having labour pains, and today's hand-grazing while handing over the baby was icky to the extreme. Can't Jodha ever get a message? 😡 Aarrrgh!

Though it was short-sightedness on BB's part to lie about the baby, given that there would be a circumcision ritual soon, I really don't know who to blame anymore.

And Divi, I think Jalaal's gone on one of his costume party with Riyayah. But, question, why are Jodha's kasams so flexible? 😉😆

I loved that you took Jalaal's full name, you repsect him a lot for his views right? 👏

Although a point to ponder, though Ruqaiyya shown heartless, and power-hungry here, brought up Khurram (Shah Jehan) to be the most artistic Mughal (given his bend towards architecture), and a good king and loving and caring family man, while good old Salim, well, the less said the better. 🤔

Great post!

Shariff touching Jodha scenes r OTT. Why do Cvs do that they just go overboard.
I believe BB had a baby girl for real and she died for reasons unknown.

Ahhh... Raksha, Khurram aka Shahjehan was also power hungry - he was softened by his Mumtaz mahal - and after her death he was a lost man for about 15 years and as for being a family man - he was never impartial with his children - showed clear bias.

As for Salim, he was a ladies man yes but was a better father than Shahjehan and he did care for all his wives - Manbhai, Jodhbhai and finally Nurjahan - abb agar usko ek se zyada mil gayi toh that is his luck !!!!

Hey Raksha ,Shahjahan killed his own brothers too.
And what about the hands he cut off of those people who built Taj Mahal.
And you compared Shahjahan and Salim's upbringing ? means do you want to say the real mother can't look after her own child ?
