Why dont you think otherwise they sacrificed their lives for protecting righteouness?
Even if they have left Dury, Dury would have found some other alliances.
War was inevitable. It was necessary to put an end to unrighteouness.
Sorry, but this doesn't make sense. They did not fight in the war for the sole reason of dying. They all were in it to bring Duryodhan victory. If protecting righteousness was foremost in their mind, then they'd have remained neutral in the war (like Balaram) or joined the Pandavas. I get it that they couldn't join the Pandavas as per their personal dharma, and that's fine, but they could have remained neutral instead of joining the side of unrighteousness. By joining Duryodhan, they weren't protecting Dharma at all.
To an extent, Karna supporting Duryodhan makes more sense than Bhishma or Drona supporting Duryodhan. Karna is somewhat justified, but it surprises me that Bhishma and Drona clung to their vows to such an extent that they supported Duryodhan even while they hated doing it. At least Karna genuinely loved Duryodhan and supported him willingly. Bhishma and Drona supported him unwillingly, so they'd have been better of sacrificing their personal dharmas and remaining neutral.
I know war was inevitable, but that still doesn't mean it couldn't have been avoided. If we are taking about inevitability, then everything in Mahabharat that happened was inevitable, so what's the point of debating?
