Chapter 20
Shilpa had finally gotten the last of her things and had left the Modi house even though she told everyone that it wasn't permanent she knew that she would never be coming back. She looked back as she got into the taxi and smiled and everyone at the door and left.
The doorbell rang and because it was the morning everyone at the Malhotra house was buzzing. Dr. Malhotra was getting ready to go to the hospital as he opened the door and he was surprised as he saw Shilpa standing outside with her luggage. "What are you doing here beta? I thought you had forgotten us completely" he said jokingly. But instead of flashing her pearly white smile Shilpa looked at him solemnly. "Dad, I'm here for good! Y'all are my family how could I ever forget you. Plus I didn't want to overstay my welcome at the Modi House". Shilpa's dad looked a little dazed, even though he was a busy man he knew what his daughter looked liked when she wasn't happy...something was definitely wrong. He let her inside and went back to what he was doing...he needed to give her daughter space as always and wait until she was comfortable to talk about whatever was wrong.
1 Month Later...
Sid was tired of waiting.
It was as simple as that, all the reassurance he had gotten from Rohan had grown thin. Everyday his ears yearned to hear her laugh; his eyes missed the sight of her face lighting up to her small victories against him. He was trying his hardest to give space, even though he was confused as to why she needed space to begin with. Was he smothering her? Had she outgrown him as well? Was he just another plaything to her? He was getting restless with each passing hour, day, and week.
He needed to know. He decided that enough was enough; she was his Shilpa even though not long ago they were strangers but a lot had changed between the two of them. She knew him best and he knew her like no other. So what was he waiting for, he knew that it was time. Something inside of him stirred and he knew then and there that he needed to leave now and bring her back home. Yes. That sounded right. He needed to bring her home. Her own home...she belonged here she belonged with him. They were meant for each other! What was that? Where had that thought come to his mind. They were friends...the best of friends.
Before getting confused further...he got up from his slump and got ready. He wore her favorite yellow Tom and Jerry shirt and faded jeans that she had bought for him. He wore the cologne she liked best and wore his watch and aviators and ran downstairs towards the door. Nivi looked at her son and smiled...she had wanted to interfere the day that Shilpa left and had wanted to prompt her son to bring her back. But since she she knew her bone-headed son and had gotten to know Shilpa who was just as head strong, she knew that her pushing and prodding would create more distances between them then bring them closer. But now watching him walk with conviction and made her happy her idiot son had finally broken his silence and was bringing his Shilpa back.
He rang the bell at the Malhorta residence, Mrs. Malhorta answered the door...she looked up and her solemn face brightened up. Sid what are you doing here?
Sid didn't really have the patience to being cordial so he got right to the point...Aunty where is Shilpa? Rima, Shipla's mom motioned at him to come inside and sit down first...he complied but slowly was getting irritated and angry at Shilpa...where the hell was she. Rima continued...do you want something to drink beta you seem kind of out of breath...No aunty...Shilpa kaha hain? Oh sweetie you missed her she's in Mauritius now. Attending her cousins wedding.
Sid did not wait for her to continue he got up and ran back to his car... drove home like a madman...packed his bag... wrote a note to his mom "Going to Mauritius. Getting back Shilpa"... and ran out as fast as he came in. He went to the airport, bought a ticket and sat on a flight to Mauritius. It was time to get his Shilpa back!
