Part 5

Like every other day Armaan walked down and heard Aarav and Riddhima talking and giggling about something. The moment Armaan greeted everyone and was about to sit on the sofa everyone stared at him for a minute and next moment burst into fits of laughter. He stared at them unable to understand the reason behind their laughter. Finally somehow controlling his laughter Aarav got up from his place and continued his laughter handing over a steel plate to him. Armaan still stood unaware about their laughter and looked down at the plate. A loud shriek escaped his mouth as he saw his reflection in the plate. His face was colouled with different patterns of different colour making him look no less than a joker! He was busy clearing the stains over his face when he heard someone murmur ;

Aa: Well done bhabhi!
Oh Oh...the damage was done and the culprit was caught!
The next moment Armaan threw the plate away and as if on a cue Riddhima started running for her dear life as Armaan tried to catch her.

A: This is it Riddhima; aaj toh tum gayi mere haathon!
R: Armaan...its Holi! Bura na maano holi hai! She threw the pillow at him and ran upstairs.
A: Haan toh tumne khel li ab mujhe bhi apni holi khelni hai.
They had now reached their room and Armaan locked the door closing her last way of escape!
R: Armaan please...tumne bhi toh kal raat ko mujhe colour lagaya tha.
A: Maine sirf choti si pyaari si muche banayi thi Riddima; tumne mujhe joker banakar rakh diya!
R: Par mujhe banane ki jarurat kya hai tum toh already...aaahhh...Naiii...
They jumped over the bed; over and around it; the pillows were scattered down on the floor; bedsheets crumbled; papers all over the room and Tom's chase for Jerry still continued!
Finally after a good 10 minutes; Armaan trapped her between the door and him.
A: Hehahaha...ab bach kar kaha jaogi Mona darling? Police...nahi Armaan ne tumhe cha...umm...dono taraf se gher liya hai! Toh; koi aakhri khwahish?
R: Please mujhe chod do.
A: Sorry that is out of choices!

She shut her eyes as he moved ahead and rubbed his cheeks against her making sure that she was coloured no less than him. Grabbing some more colour from the plate kept on side table he coloured her forehead and cheeks even more!
A: Now hisaab is barabar.

As he moved away and winked at her; both of them lost themselves in a beautiful eye lock. There was pin drop silence as their eyes were busy talking volumes. She was the first one to come out of the eyelock and as the eye contact was broken the situation turned akward. He moved back and looked away. Both of them looked at their room and again burst into fits of laughter as the room looked like some torranado had just striken the room moments back!
Didi...Ammy boyfriend...kaha ho aap...?
The moment they heard Samaira's voice all the awkwardness was long forgotten and their eyes twinkled with mischief. They winked at each other and moved out of the room with the plan of action set.

Within next half hour Armaan, Riddhima, Samaira and Aarav looked exactly same as they were covered up in colours from head to toe. They had played holi like maniacs. Riddhima was having so much fun and was so happy today. All of them; Samaira, Aarav, Maa, Dad looked so happy; while Armaan he had always been the reason behind their happiness. Their marriage had completed three months and in the last three months so much had changed. Armaan Mallik; the name and face that she had few months back was now her dearest friend. He meant a lot to her now. He had taught her to smile again; to live her life to see the good ascpects and neglect the bad ones; he had taught her how to LIVE!

Now as she thought about her life after the contract ends; it was such a painful thought! Previously she felt as though the life after the completion of contract would be better; but now she feared to forget anything related to these 6 months she was living. She was busy in her thoughts when Armaan snapped his finger to bring her back.

A: Kya hua? Kaha kho gayi Riddhima?
R: Kuch nahi...vo bas aise hi...
She walked away looking extremely upset about something and Armaan obviously noticed it clearly but before he could question her she ran away to their room. Later too as he tried to confront her she told him that it was just his assumption; maybe he was thinking too much. Her answer wasn't quite convincing; but by evening as she was back to beign her jolly self he thought maybe what she said might be true.

The next evening they had a guest soming over. Their neighbour's aunt ( Mrs. Patel) who knew Armaan right from his childhood was going to come home for dinner and since Riddhima was the new bahu of the house she was expected to make so called panch pakwan (five course meal) in her honour. Riddhima didn't mind that but what she was worried about was Mrs. Patel's nature as Ananya had informed her that Mrs. Patel was a very orthodox minded lady. She liked to have everything in a specific way so better she was given it or else God helps! Armaan knew her but now as he had grown up he wasn't that close to her. Rather her attitude was some what not acceptable for him so he preferred to maintain a distance.
Around 7 Mrs. Patel entered the house and Ananya and Billy welcomed her. They all sat and Riddhima served snacks while they chit chatted. Aarav wha had just come back from college was cribbing about some project that he had and wanted Riddhima's help for it; but she was telling him to wait till Mrs.Patel goes. Aarav been himself was irritating Riddhima as usual. He was busy teasing her about Armaan as he knew once that she would be fed up of his teasings she would agree to do anything to just stop him from his teasings.
Aa: Haan haan janta hu; yahi baat agar bhai ne boli hoti toh aap toh daudi daudi chali jati na par aapko meri kya padi hogi? Bhai ko aa jaane do fir main...Riddhima knew he was purposely annoying her so she thought of finally shooing him away from the kitchen.
R: Aaarav...abhi isi waqt niklo yaha se varna bohot peetoge tum mujhse!
To Riddhima luck; Mrs.Patel who had come there to ask her something saw the ehole scene and gasped in horror.
Mrs.Patel: Riddhima...ye kya kar rahi ho tum?
R: Aunty aap...
Riddhima went quiet as she saw Mrs.Patel approach her.
Mrs.P: Ye kya tareeka hai apne devar se baat karne ka? Mana vo tumse chota hai umar main; par fir bhi aude su tumse bada hai. Tum use aise kaise baat kar sakti ho?
R: Vo aunty main vo...bas...
Mrs.P: Kuch bahane nahi sunne mujhe. Bas aaj ke baad kabhi aise baat mat karna uske saath. Ye bohot galat hai.
Aa: Arey Aunty ye aap kya bol rahi hai; bhabhi ki koi galti nahi hai vo toh main hi unhe...
Riddhima was sure that Mrs.Patel wasn't going to appreciate Aarav defending her so she stepped in.
R: Aarav tum jao jaake fresh ho jao. Main kuch der main khaana laga rahi hu.
Aarav left the kitchen as Riddhima made him understand through her eyes while Mrs.Patel again reminded her to behave with him properly before she left the kitchen.

Armaan came home after a while and wasn't really glad to see Mrs.Patel but being the host he tried his best to not be rude. Riddhima set the dining table and called everyone for dinner. By the time Armaan freshened up and come down he had got all the updates of Mrs.Patel's interaction with Riddhima and he had not liked it a bit. But anyways forgetting everything as it was just a matter of few more hours he just let go.
Riddhima served everyone and was praised by all for her cooking skills. Everyone including Mrs.Patel had loved the food. Riddhima was about to join them but as she saw Armaan trying to quietly get some aachar chup ke se as no one was seeing; she smacked his hand as she sat right next to him;
R: Armaan...sochna bhi mat. Kal hi itne bheege ho holi khelke aur khaasi ho gayi hai itni; ab achaar khake aur pareshani badhana chahte ho kya khud ke liye.
A: Riddhima bas th...
He was cut in between by Mrs.Patel as she found another reason to attack Riddhima.
Mrs.P: Ananya...lagta hai tune teri bahu ko kuch sikhaya hi nahi hai. Koi tameez hi nahi hai us main. Pehle Aarav se itni batameezi se baat kar rahi thi aur ab...
Armaan ko uske naam se bula rahi hai ye sabke saamne. Aur ye kya tareeka hai apne pati se baat karne ka? Agar usne thoda sa aachar kha bhi liya toh kya farak pad jaayega?
R: Nahi aunty vo...
Mrs.P: Koi safai nahi chahiye mujhe...abhi isi waqt maafi maang usse.
Riddhima didn't wish to disappoint Mrs.Patel in anyway as she was their guest so she thought to better do as she says. She turned towards Armaan and apologized.
R: I am sory Ar...I mean...umm...mujhe maaf kardeejiye.
Mrs.P: Hmm...aur yaad rahe ainda bhi kabhi uska naam nahi lena hai. Aap karke hi pukarogi use samjhi!
Armaan who was just listening to all this was baffled. Why would she call him AAP?
A: Buaji vo mujhe "aap" kyu...
He stopped midway as Riddhima held his hand and indicated through her eyes to not say anything so he gulped his words. But Mrs.Patel who had noticed everything turned even more furious.
Mrs.P: Dekha Ananya ab Armaan iski tarafdari kar raha hai. Vaha pehle Aarav iske khilaaf kuch nahi sunna chahta tha aur ab ye. Manna padega Ananya; teri bahu kaafi shaatir hai. Khoob jaanti hai sabko apni mutthi main rakhna.
Armaan was already on the verge of losing his patience but as he saw Riddhima shut her eyes tightly to stop her tears he lost his cool.
A: ENOUGH! Maanta hu ki aap badi hai aur aap main jyaada samajh hai duniya ki par iska ye matlab nahi ki aapke jo jee main aaye vo aap kahe. Riddhima ne kuch bhi galat nahi kiya hai; use meri fikar hai isi liye vo bas mujhe aachar khane se rok rahi thi taaki mujhe aur takleef na ho.
Aur vo mujhe aap kehkar kyu pukaregi; mera naam Armaan hai toh Armaan kehke hi pukaregi!
Mrs.P: Kyunki yahi reet hai. Vo tumhari patni hai; is ghar ki bahu hai aur...
A: Is ghar ki bahu baad main hai; pehle meri patni hai. Aur mujhe ye hargiz manjur nahi agar vo mujhe aap bulaye. Vaise bhi aapke hisaab se toh patni ko vohi sab karna chahiye na jo pati kahe. Toh meri marzi yahi hai ki vo mujhe Armaan hi bulaye. Meri biwi hai; meri assistant nahi; aur izzat sirf shabdo se ya baton se nahi hoti; izzat dil main ho vohi kaafi hai. Aur vaise bhi usne jo bhi kaha sahi kaha; aachar khane se khaasi toh meri hi badhegi use kya mil jaayega mujhe aachar na dene se.
Khair; aap mehman hai toh mehmaan ki tarah rahe toh acha hoga; meri patni mujhse kaise baat kar rahi hai ya kya bula rahi hai vo sab main dekh lunga!
He stood up leaving his plate half eaten.
R: Khaana toh poora...
A: Peth bhar gaya mera...bhook nahi hai mujhe.
