SRK's looks were disadvantage if anything, he made it big because of his charm and screen presence not because of his looks which were rather average.

You are not understanding me.. The point I was making is that those people who made are good looking and it is a god given feature.. Charm and chrisma is part of that.. You can't develop charm and chrisma.. You either have it or you don't..you are born with it

Its a depressing truth bout BW but only talentless crap star kids can debut with a big banner. There are so many pretty, talented actress than Alia or Shraddha but none can get a chance..
Reality is Only Upper class rich daddy's child or talentless star kids can now make a grand debut in Bw

For gals, heros must sport the chiseled handsome looks with six pack... For guys heroines must shake their hips and have skin show... I know many of my frens who are going gaga over Ranveer after his abs in Ramleela... They were the same gals who felt he was ugly when BBB got released... I also have seen my guy friends is into sexier actresses than good actresses, almost 95% of my guys friends are fans of Deepika, Katrina and Priyanka.. And its no surprise these three are the usual poll toppers in all the sexy list polls...

Bottom line is, there is no such thing as neopatism vs outsiders in BW... Who can look good, who is popular in Media, who gets max buzz, these people will stay longer in the industry...

Exactly, the point I was making.. So many guys and girls out there who are more talented..better actors but they couldn't make it.. Because they just didn't fit that bollywood good look image..

It is not just about rare but hard. Earlier it was less. Nepotism caught on in big way in 80s and then has been on rise since 2000s. Starkids get too many chances. They somehow keep sticking around even if they suck.
There is one Madhuri and maybe Juhi but the rest were all from film families - Kajol, Karishma, Tabu, Raveena. Only SRK and Akshay, rest all film family kids - Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Ajay Devgan, Anil Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan, Govinda, Akshaye Khanna etc. Proportion of starkids is on the rise since 80s.

Now also only Katrina, Deepika, Anushka, PC are outsiders. Others - Sonakshi, Shraddha, Alia, Sonam, Parineeti, Kareena are all relatives of stars.

Outsider has to work harder in getting contacts, getting noticed and even getting a film offer. And he or she has to deliver early or else they're kicked out unlike starkids.

For every SRK you have three Tusshar Kapoors. For every Aishwarya Rai, you have three Esha Deols. That spells inequality right there.

Even outsiders are no more ordinary guys like they used to be in past. They are mostly from wealthy families like Ranveer Singh or famous family like Deepika. Those days are gone when a guy from a village could come and make it like, say, Dharmendra. Connections matter too much now.
Outsider cannot make it without platform like TV or beauty pageants. And they have to succeed there too in order to get noticed for films.

To understand this, you have to take an example. There is an advantage being a star kid.
Case in point is Ranbir Kapoor. He is not a fluke and great actor, we know that by now. But think what would have happened to him after Saawariya if he was like Sid. Imagine Sid in Saawariya and after the flop, nobody would give him a chance.

It's definitely difficult for total outsiders or unconventional lookers to take a foothold in the industry unless your 1st movie becomes a big hit- Sid- SOTY. Ranveer Singh- BBB

Most of the biggest names in Hindi Cinema don't have good looks- Amitabh, Shahrukh. But all these names have 1 common theme- HUNGER TO GO TOP. This is not there in industry starkids. They are already rich, they are born in star family, they don't have so much fascination for cine world or hunger to reach top. Many like ARK's interest is not acting either.

People today feel that Ranbir Kapoor will be the next superstar. RK is not comfortable with limelight, media etc...these things influence the extent of your stardom. From my analysis, Ranveer Singh is gonna be the next superstar. This is from my analysis of movie industry since early 90s. SRK had just began n Aamir n Salman were already big, Knew it right back then who will be at the top in terms of superstardom in coming years. Today, Only SRK movie guarantees a 100 crore overall collection just because of his stardom worldwide.

Look at Imran Khan, the guy is getting movies even flops after flops.. this is not the possibility for non-star kids.
Two big flops for Sid or Ranveer in a row and it gets difficult for them.

Talking about looks, it's not enough, case in point- Vidyut Jammal, Arjun Rampal, John. Talent and acting counts because they are actors first. But yes, you need to look at least average.
Rajkumar Rao will not make it big, sad but truth. No girl gonna drool over him

I have observed is that, Bollywood family doesn't allow their ladies to be part of Bollywood fraternity. It doesn't have anything to do with 'male-chauvinist' mindset but more with fear that women are treated badly in Bollywood. They have closely seen struggles an actress has to go through, in order to sustain her position or make it big in BW. So often girls, belonging from filmy background are not often seen on silver screen...

That's why besides Alia, Sonakshi, Kareena - All actresses right now are outsiders and not from filmy background!
