To understand this, you have to take an example. There is an advantage being a star kid.
Case in point is Ranbir Kapoor. He is not a fluke and great actor, we know that by now. But think what would have happened to him after Saawariya if he was like Sid. Imagine Sid in Saawariya and after the flop, nobody would give him a chance.
It's definitely difficult for total outsiders or unconventional lookers to take a foothold in the industry unless your 1st movie becomes a big hit- Sid- SOTY. Ranveer Singh- BBB
Most of the biggest names in Hindi Cinema don't have good looks- Amitabh, Shahrukh. But all these names have 1 common theme- HUNGER TO GO TOP. This is not there in industry starkids. They are already rich, they are born in star family, they don't have so much fascination for cine world or hunger to reach top. Many like ARK's interest is not acting either.
People today feel that Ranbir Kapoor will be the next superstar. RK is not comfortable with limelight, media etc...these things influence the extent of your stardom. From my analysis, Ranveer Singh is gonna be the next superstar. This is from my analysis of movie industry since early 90s. SRK had just began n Aamir n Salman were already big, Knew it right back then who will be at the top in terms of superstardom in coming years. Today, Only SRK movie guarantees a 100 crore overall collection just because of his stardom worldwide.
Look at Imran Khan, the guy is getting movies even flops after flops.. this is not the possibility for non-star kids.
Two big flops for Sid or Ranveer in a row and it gets difficult for them.
Talking about looks, it's not enough, case in point- Vidyut Jammal, Arjun Rampal, John. Talent and acting counts because they are actors first. But yes, you need to look at least average.
Rajkumar Rao will not make it big, sad but truth. No girl gonna drool over him
