Chapter 4

The next morning the house was chaotic as everyone rushed to get ready and reach the University. Taani and her friends had left early because they needed to be there to welcome the gang and show them around.

The gang looked shocked when they saw the University. It was larger and much more beautiful than St. Louis was. The people were hustling bustling but no one really cared about their surroundings since everyone was just involved in their own conversations. The girls were unaffected by the boys and that made Nil, Vicky, Bharat and Amar a bit irritated.

"Kya yaar...yahan ki ladkiyan toh humein dekh bhi nai rahi,"Vicky complained.

Neha gasped, "Babu looking at other girls!"

Vicky quickly tried to apologize, "Nai nai...mein ne nahi...Nil ne aisa bola."

Nil looked shocked, "Aabbbeee! Mere pe sab mat dal, sabko pata hai yeh tune bola."

"Oh whatever guys. Waise bhi jab itne hot ladken already ho toh tum logon ko kaun bhav dega,"Simmi said while pointing towards Wahi, Tacker and Arjun.

"Welcome guys!" Wahi said welcoming them inside the main doors.

"Actually Hitler ko kuch kaam tha ab hum log tum sab ko college dikhanyenge," Arjun piped in with a smile as he started talking about the university.

Meanwhile Tacker had walked slowly so that he and Kriya could be last.

"Waise...tum bohot hi cute lag rahi ho aaj," he complimented softly and her cheeks became a crimson red, "Thanks."

"Uffo...tum theek se nai chal sakte types! Kabse mere saath takra rahe ho," Aashi yelled as Wahi accidently bumped his shoulder with hers.

"Oye! Mujhe koi shauk nai hai tumse takra ne ka, dikh nai raha kitni kum jaga hai yahan," he pointed at the small room they were currently standing in.

"Oh please! Mein khoob janti hoon tumhare type ke ladkon ko," Aashi retorted not believing. Wahi just rolled his eyes and huffed out a whatever.

"Chal Tacker!" he demanded annoyed and Tacker pouted since he had to leave Kriya at the back.

Sharon giggled seeing Tacker's face but kept quiet.

"Aur yeh hai aap sab ka rehearsal hall. Yahan pe aap sab practice karenge aur phir workshops auditorium mein hongi," Arjun proceeded towards a large empty room with all glass windows.

They were able to look out and see the great view because the hall was on the top floor.

"Wow! This is so pretty yaar," Vishakha gushed as she approached the window.

"Yep...aur raat ko toh bohot accha lagta hai yahan," Arjun said.

The gang settled down, placing their bags and equipment in their respective places. They started to warm up and went through many strategies of how they would teach the fourth year students. Their goal was to teach non-dancers how to dance, even if it was just the basic moves for now. This would lead to people opening up to the concept of dance as a career, hobby etc.

"Guys! I think we will rock this!" Rey said when they finished their practice and planning.

Sharon grinned, "Yes we will!"

"But what if the fourth year students don't learn?" Vishakha asked a bit worried.

"Alcha alcha solch Vishakha (Accha accha soch Vishakah)," Amar encouraged.

Kriya stepped in voicing her concerns then, "I kind of agree with Vishakha. These people are non-dancers, what if they don't follow us. And they can't even leave or not attend because it's compulsory to attend."

The gang shut Kriya and Vishakha up by saying that they are thinking negatively and nothing of the sort will occur.

In the evening when they reached Swayam's house, Rey was constantly looking here and there.

"Janab, aap kisko dhund rahe hain," Swayam asked in a soft polite whisper but the naughtiness was evident in his voice.

Rey stumbled when caught, "Woh...wo...kisiko nahi...tu khana kha...mujhe kyun pareshan kar raha hai."

Swayam just chuckled fully knowing that Rey was searching for Taani. Only he and his mom knew that Taani had to stay back at college to set up tomorrow's workshop. Rey was unaware and thought that Taani was hiding somewhere in the house.

After dinner, Rey went up to Taani's room and many other places but couldn't find her. Late at night, he woke up to get a drink of water when he heard the sound of anklets (payal).

"Hmm...hmmm...hmm...baby doll mein sone di...oh baby doll mein sone di," he saw Taani with one earphone on, humming to the rather explicit song.

Taani aur baby doll? Kab se? She never listened to songs like this. Rey was confused and as he stood there in his thoughts Taani noticed him and stopped her humming at once.

"Rey!? App...I mean...aap yahan kya kar rahe hai?"

"Mein paani peene aaya tha aur tumhari awaaz suni toh yahan kitchen mein aa gaya," he explained, cleverly leaving out the part of her payal.

Her face turned to an OH and she nodded in understanding.

"Bhook lagi thi?" Taani nodded, "Yeah. Late night classes aur upar se yeh event...it's hectic."

He shuddered at the thought of all the responsibilities, " I can't imagine."

Taani had a sudden urge to tell him and you never will' but decided to keep her mouth shut and not ruin the peaceful atmosphere.

"Come, let's sit on the swing until you eat," he made Taani grab her thali full of roti and sabzi and dragged her to the swing outside in the garden.

They sat in silence and Rey felt emotions building up. In those moments of silence he was having flashbacks of all the memories he had with this amazing girl. All the things he had wanted to say to her but never could.

"Taani I wasn't joking when I said I missed you," he whispered.

"And neither was I," she stated before indulging in another bite.

Rey sighed, "You don't understand Taani! I really really missed you. I mean it was terrible after you left. The new GS was a pain to deal with and he didn't understand anything. Also, he wouldn't let anyone of us say anything in the matter of the college. The gang was so mad and we were always in a bad mood. When you were there it was so much..."

"Easier?" Seethed Taani.

The anger was coming out and she couldn't hold it in anymore. She was trying to avoid a confrontation like this but it seems ineligible.

"You gave this big bhashan about missing me but in reality not once did you miss ME. You missed your GS who used to take all the pressure and burden off your shoulders. On the day of our break-up you yelled at how hyper and ruthless I was being but did you EVER try to talk it out with me? Ever ask Taani what's the problem? NO! YOU NEVER DID! If you forgot a meeting it was okay because you have rehearsals but if I forgot a meeting apparently the world hit it's doom. Do you all think I am a machine? Do I not have a life? I don't dance and don't have rehearsals but I do have a LIFE!

So please Rey, don't go on through the whole I missed you' speech because it's of no use. You never cared about our relationship and you never looked at things from my point of view. Forget all that, you didn't even wish me a proper goodbye when I was coming to Delhi."

Her voice cracked at the last part as she reminisced thinking if he had ever loved her.

She grabbed him by the collar, "Do you have any idea what it feels like to be isolated in your own group of friends? To have the authorities yelling at you because the dancers aren't preparing properly? Did you feel the pain of ever thinking that the person you loved the most doesn't love you anymore?

NO! You didn't Mr. Reyansh Singhania. So you can not just conveniently say "I missed you Taani". Because in all truth...you didn't. Heck Rey, I want to ask you one simple question...and give me an honest answer."

Rey looked at her with tears in his eyes promising to only say the truth.

Her voice echoed even though it came out in a harsh whisper, "Did you even love me?"

I know, I'm late. Actually really late. Sorry for that.
I'll come straight to update.
It was actually quite subtle in the start.
More about the gang and them adjusting to a new environment.
But I would really put my focus into the latter part of the update.
Rey looking for Taani was so adorable of him ... I have no clue how to explain how I imagined his every expression. It was like how a small child looking for a toy his mom kept away from him. I Sooo imagined that.
I liked how you made Taani's presence avail to Rey through her payals. It brought me to think further on how Rey's character over here realizes his surroundings change through his senses more than using his brains I guess.
And Taani humming to baby doll ! I don't know, but I could imagine myself doing such a thing when I come home late and be on my earphones, dancing slightly with my eyes closed humming to the song.
Rey being all clueless about Taani singing to these types of songs brought an anger to me ... Did he ever notice anything about her?
And then, I shall go all the way to Taani's outburst. Oh My God! I loved it. All that anger, all the frustration all out and How I bet Rey is speechless. I would die to see his expression at that point of time. And that last question, probably what was her mind from the time she left St. Louis.
