Part 40

Readers, as you all correctly guessed, it was a very hectic day yesterday and I couldn't update. I know a lot of you guys were stalking the thread. Sorry for wasting for time 😒. So here I am today with my update. It is crap. Bear with me...



Thankfully the rest of the evening went on without any other unpleasant interruptions. All the friends and the limited family congratulated Shlok and Astha. Shlok had also invited Astha's girl gang and Astha was pleased. She hugged each of them and beamed at all her friends.

Varad and Anjali too were beaming while Niranjan had a slight smile on his face. Anjali Agnihotri had also seen a suitable bride for her elder son. It was Sojal, the daughter of her best friend for years.

However Anjali announced her decision only to her family as she was planning to have an engagement party for Varad and Sojal in a few weeks' time. Meanwhile after the guests began dwindling, and Shlok and Astha were about to leave, Anjali called the two of them into the Agnihotri study.

Shlok knew his mother wanted to discuss the whys and hows of the upcoming wedding. He gave a mental sigh and went with Astha in resignation. Anjali was waiting for them, sitting regally on the huge couch. Astha stood as Shlok flopped down opposite his mother. Anjali motioned Astha to be seated as well.

"Shlok I wanted to discuss the wedding. It will be a big wedding done in the traditional Maharashtrian style. You know the name your father has in the society and we should invite -"

Shlok rudely interrupted his mother's words. "Ayi, I want a very simple wedding happening in my house, my new house that I have now got for my Astha." He took Astha's hand in his as he spoke. Astha looked at Shlok in surprise. She didn't know Shlok had got a new house. He never discussed it with her.

"But Shlok, ours is a traditional family with our own set of rules."

"I don't believe in all this bull shit and you too know it ayi. No, don't stop me. I can give you maximum of two weeks, nothing more and nothing less. The wedding will happen in our new home. I want to invite only select family and friends." Shlok's was adamant and his tone suggested his mother shouldn't waste her time arguing with him.

Astha was sitting with Shlok, unable to participate in the heated discussion. She was exasperated with the both the stubborn Agnihotris. Anjali's face turned solemn and her lips straightened. She showed her displeasure at Shlok's words through her expressions. Finally Anjali spoke again.

"Alright; I am okay with your decisions but until the wedding Astha and you will stay separately. Now you don't bother arguing with me. Astha can stay in the Agnihotri mansion."

Shlok saw red at his mother's order. "No ways, why should she stay away?" Shlok began hotly.

"I don't know how you have lived all along. And now all that doesn't matter. You have come with your bride to be to my house and have asked me to take over for the wedding. This is the first thing that needs to be done. Regarding the wedding sari and other rituals, I will take care of it." Anjali proved to be Shlok's mother after all. Her stance and tone was determined.

Shlok sighed and tried again. "But ayi, is this necessary? I mean we have been living together after all."

Anjali gave him a sweet smile which didn't reach her eyes. "And you should have been whipped for it. Behaving like this, with no semblance of respect. Enough now. Astha will stay here and you will go back." Anjali's eyes almost shot daggers at Shlok.

Astha interrupted. She was embarrassed and guilty and what Shlok's mother said. And for the living in part, Astha too complied. So did that mean the whipping would be extended to her as well? Suddenly Astha felt like giggling in hyseria. Curbing her reaction, she spoke to Anjali.

"Ayi I can stay with my friend Preethi for these two weeks. It will not be a problem." Astha then smiled at Anjali.

"That is sorted than. Now Astha, you leave with Shlok and immediately go to Preethi's house. You will stay there until the wedding. Understood? And give me your mobile number. Tomorrow we need to shop for the wedding sari."

Shlok knew when he was defeated by the women. He slumped and started sulking. He didn't like the fact that Astha was going to be away from him for two whole weeks. He loved her, craved for her, and wanted her by his side always. But now Shlok was forced to endure the separation.

Astha knew what went on in his mind even without seeing him. She knew the next two weeks were going to be hard, but she was going to life with him forever after that. So Astha didn't mind the rules. She got up along with Shlok and went with him to the car after seeking Anjali's blessings.

Astha sat in the car and did her seat belt. She looked at a still scowling Shlok. Astha caressed his cheek slightly and gave him a rueful smile. "C'mon Shlok. It's only a matter of two weeks. We are going to be in touch, we can also meet daily if you want." Astha tried to pacify a sulky Shlok.

Shlok threw her a glance before starting the car. He reversed neatly and put the car into smooth motion. He drove in relative silence and even the music in the car was off. Astha was feeling a little oppressed inside the car, with his brooding presence. "So Astha, will you be happy without me for the next two weeks?" His voice was carefully flat.

"What on earth are you talking Shlok? Have you lost your senses? How can I be happy? I will of course miss you each minute and each second." Her voice turned shaky by the time she finished.

"Then why the hell did you agree to move you? I would have handled ayi if you hadn't opened your smart mouth." He finished harshly. Astha gasped at his sudden anger. She unconsciously moved back against his aggression. Shlok saw her vulnerable and hurt eyes and stopped the vehicle on the deserted road.

He quickly undid their seat belts and brought her for a kiss. Shlok groaned as their heated mouths fused together in desperation and complete abandon. Astha gasped and closed her eyes as Shlok's lips nipped and sucked her neck, her throat, and the fair skin exposed at her shoulder.

"Shlok, please. We are in the car." Astha clutched at his kurta tightly.

"Hmm..." His hands removed her pallu even as his other hand pushed the seat recline button. She went down with the seat. Shlok slightly moved, his upper body on hers. His tongue licked and nipped her skin, heating her blood. Astha arched up slightly, her hands snaking her around his back. She urged his body closer to hers.

Astha's mouth searched for his hungrily. But this time it was Shlok who stopped. "Astha, if I kiss you now there's no going back. I am sure you don't want to f**k in the middle of the road." Shlok's voice was husky yet tinged with frustration.

Astha's eyes shot open. Her breath hitched at his words. Her cheeks were fiery red. Astha hurriedly got up, pushing him away. She fixed her sari with lowered eyes and trembling hands. Astha bit her lip against the high tide of desire that was coursing through her body.

Shlok kissed her knuckles and tipped her chin up. "I will be waiting for the two weeks to get over." He placed her hand on her body and started the car with minimum fuss. Astha gulped and looked at him sideways. He smirked at her and she smiled back faintly.

He dropped Astha at Preethi's house. "Call Suresh. He will deliver stuff you need here. Take care Astha." Shlok kissed Astha's forehead. "And don't forget, we are going to look at our new home tomorrow afternoon. It is my wedding present to you." Shlok finished softly.

Astha hugged him one last time. "Thank you for everything Shlok. You're a wonderful man. No wonder I love you." She smiled at him and kissed him softly on his lips. Astha got out of the car and went into the apartment with one last glance at her handsome lover.
