Yuddhi didn't return quite return to square 1...but, to his supercool sacrificing self. He didn't want country to be split. That part I can understand. How many of us would not want India-Pakistan-Bangladesh to still be together? *Sigh* To keep it together he was willing to abdicate.
In terms of the arrests he was following protocol...one doesn't object to arrest, but that doesn't mean you don't fight your case. Yes. They may lose the case since the Judge is biased...but, that is a different issue then outright rebellion or coup. By outright rebellion they cannot gain anything - not their freedom nor the kingdom. Fighting for justice while cooperating with the system's processes is the smart thing do. Still knowing the desk was stacked against them the anticipated outcome would be life in jail.
Outright rebellion is not what Draupadi advised either - she said protest the unjustness of their arrest and detention.
When Drau asked he said they could apologize - it is what mom would advice. But, he didn't say that is what he intended to do. Instead he shrewdly asked for Drau's advise. And agreed that they would not apologize. Because at his core agrees they have not done anything to apologize for. Which is entirely consistent with where Yuddhi was yesterday, but also understands that the Judge is biased and the deck is stacked against them and apologizing may have been an expedient out. All of which is different from abdicating the Crown Prince status btw...though that is of course interrelated in that Dhrit has arrested them to negate said status.
