Chidhambaram
Chidambaram is a retired collector and is a respected man in his village. He is a strict collector even at home and openly expresses his love for only one person - his son Sakthi. He believes that everyone must live by principles and when they fail to do that, he condemns them vehemently. He is very judgmental and stands by his words. He despises his sister Vadivu and Murugesan for betraying him and wants nothing to do with them.
Chidhambaram's Wife : Viji
Viji is Chidambaram's wife and is a very caring mother. She respects her husband a lot and always supports him, whether it is a small family argument or a 35 years old conflict.
Chid sister Mangai
Mangai is Collector's youngest sister. She is 40+ years old but has still not married because of her sister's elopement. She is very religious and spends most of her time at the temple. She respects her elder brother a lot but is not scared to tell him when he is being too harsh with the children.
Chid elder son - Karthikeyan
Karthikeyan is Chidambaram's eldest son and is a Thasildhar in the village. He is an obedient son to his father and this nature of his usually gets him in trouble with his wife, Subhathira but he always manages to escape. He is a soft person with a lot of patience. He is a loving father to his little daughter, Priya.
Subathira (Subha) is the elder daughter in law of Chidambaram. She is very talkative and is usually at the receiving end of Chidambaram's taunts for her antics. She doesn't like Chidambaram's rules and always have a witty comment about it though she only says it in her mind. She enjoys it when Andal argues with Chidambaram and is waiting eagerly for more problems to arise in the family.
Chidhambaram's second son Sakthivel
Sakthivel (Sakthi) is the younger son of Chidambaram and is a jovial, good-natured person. He has a lot of respect for his father and is very protective when it comes to his family. He is a very affectionate brother and his world revolves around his little sister Andal. Despite the problem in their families, he found a good friend in Azhagar and trusts him a lot. He is in love with Revathi but have not expressed it to her due to the enmity between the 2 families.
Kalaiarasi is the elder daughter of Chidambaram. She is a lawyer and is very sincere when it comes to her profession. She is also very obedient and abides by her father's wishes.
