Hi Ibby I'm Alisha
Please come back & post more. Would love to hear your views
After composing a Love Mo post - highlighting her positive attributes I was going to do a balanced one bringing to the fore her flaws . But you saved me from it. You put your points across beautifully.
Addressing the Mo being unjustly glorified argument . Will come back & address it in another of your posts. Otherwise this post will become way too long ( I promised myself i would work on shortening my replies )
From my Nazar : Why would i tune into this show ?
There are Tv serials which will provoke you to think, others which will make you simply feel & others which you enjoy just for the heck of it.
For me Nazar comes into the latter category. Its Good Fun !
I love Nazar & not just Mo but each & every character. Be it ( Ved Mo Ansh Piya Saavi Nishant Naman Chaitali Rishi Neha Kajal Shekhar Avinash Guruma Guruji ) The actors are doing a splendid job.
I tune in because its a fun supernatural show and it inspires me to write. I very much enjoy doing that.
Now before i digress further coming to your points
Importance of Mo in the storyline :
Seeing the serial from Mo perspective taught me see things from the writers POV
Monalisa is a film actor who would never be interested in working in TV serials ( she mentioned in her interviews) except the script of this show and the role offered caught her interest.
It makes sense that a film actor of her caliber would be getting a strong author backed role. Otherwise it's a waste of a film Actor's talent.
Im glad she did say yes because even if you have to hate the bad guy . The villain has to be good at his job otherwise you can't hate a boring villain can you ?
He carries the burden of making the hero look good & popularising the story.
You would hardly be interested in the story if the villain was uninteresting .
Would you ?
Nazar's Formula :
As i said seeing things from CV's POV it is unusual indeed to have a Indian show based on an antagonist & there have been very few shows based on that ( Beyhadh , Twisted etc. In the west the idea is not unique but on ITV yes.)
And it was a gamble that paid off well. Nazar became a hit and started the trends of Daayans / Chudails. It's success in the daily slot is no mean feat.
Another unusual thing is its genre. Your TV audiences generally prefer saas bahus so any show that's different doesn't do well TRP wise . As a result they shut down prematurely.
Normally you have shows promising to be different not regressive they hook you with the premise & then introduce the saas bahu elements later. By that time you're already well hooked booked & cooked so won't leave the show whatever happens.
Here they played it smart. They introduced the saas bahu elements to hook you
but their actual interest was action / anime themes. If you notice almost every episode there is some stunt or action sequences happening . It is fast paced . No kitchen politics ever, family is lovingly united . No misunderstandings , leads hating each other , seperation ( for long) and coming together etc.
The beauty of Nazar is there is no need to introduce those elements to raise TRP's because that burden falls on Mo's shoulders.
See that's why you need Mo in the story. You're free to enjoy the show ( supernatural plus action plus romance ) minus the frustrations that comes with a regressive saas bahu show.
Main Leads :
Coming to the question of who is rightfully the main lead ? I said in my previous post Mo is unquestionably the heroine of this show.
But she is not the sole main lead. I believe this show has 4 main leads -Mohana Ansh Piya & Vedashree .
Best part of this show is that it has got everything for for everyone . Those looking for romance they've got Piansh, action the stunts storyline, a sexy stylish villain- Mo , family love - Ved. They created more than one lead for this purpose.
The makers smartly planned the tracks so as to not overwork the romantic leads as other shows are prone to do. They plan multiple tracks to include the the supporting cast. This ensures the storyline doesn't become stale and that whole leads hating each other separating etc becomes unnecessary.
Piya & Ansh :
Piya' journey has been beautifully shown in the show . From a young women coming in her own. Learning about her powers falling in love to becoming a strong confident woman & warrior post marriage. And finally becoming a tigress as she journeys into motherhood.
Ansh Initially i was unhappy with his character graph. From a headstrong youth he progressed to becoming a damsel in distress. This being a woman dominated medium. The guy had no agency of his own. Serious gender imbalance there .
I'm happy this season that he's learnt to stop being sheltered started getting street smart. He finally learnt to becoming cunning from his mom ( like i always wanted ) & giving her a good run for her money.
There's a lot more i want to say but i already made my reply too long.
See need to practice a lot.
Look forward to discussing with you next .
