Jai, Bani and some other friends were gathered around a table chatting.

J:So Vinay...have any plans for tonight?

V:No...

J:[Looks over at Bani who's in a conversation with the girls.]

J: Umm...well, Bani was saying that she'd love to go out with you tonight..

Bani paused, and turned towards Jai with her mouth open..

B: What!!!

J: Yeah Bani, remember you told me during lunch yesterday..

B: Jai!! [Mad at him and embarassed at the same time]

Everyone else gave a little laugh.

....

B: Excuse me, I have to go... [Sort of embarassed]

Bani gathered all her books and left the table in rage. She gave one more mean, furious glance at Jai as she was at the door. Everyone else stopped laughing a little.

J: Umm.. [Takes a look at the door] I have some work too... [And leaves...]

V: Patch-up time...

The rest give a little laugh..

Later in the hallway...

J: I'm sorry Bani, it was only meant as a joke!

B: .... [No response]

J:Bani...oh come on! I said I'm sorry... I was only joking, seriously I didn't mean to hurt your feelings....

B: ....

J: Bani.. [Stops her by holding her arm..turns her towards her]

B: [Crosses her arms..]

J: Look...I'm really really really sorry....please forgive me..[He's holding his ears by now..]

B: [Looks him in the eye, says softly] Fine, but on one condition..

J: Condition? [Thinks over it] What condition?

B: You will have to go out with Kiran..

J: [Shocked] What?! Are you out of your mind Bani! Go out with Kiran! Do you know who you're talking about Bani?! Kiran! Phsh...never!

B: Hey! Don't say bad things about her.... she's my friend!

J: Well, no offence Bani... but I'd go out with you, but with Kiran? No way....

B: Well then I'm not talking to you... [And starts walking]

J: [Thinks to himself] Oh my, there she goes again...what should I do? Should I just go with Kiran..? Or not??

Jai is so confused that he jus doesn't know what to do, when he thinks of an idea.

J: Perfect! That'll cheer her up..

......

J: Hi auntie..is Bani home?

Bani's mom: Yes she is, she's right upstairs in her room.

J: Thanks auntie...

Jai goes upto Bani's room. Knock Knock.

B: Come in..

As Jai enters the room, he finds Bani sitting on her bed reading a magazine.

B: Oh, it's you..

J: Yup....it's me.

B: So, what have you thought?

J: Well, I've been thinking...

B: I'm listening...

J: You know how I said that.. well, I'd rather go with the dance with you than Kiran..

B: Yeeaah... [Thinking to herself] Where's he getting at?

J: I've made up my mind.... [Pauses] I'm gonna take you out tonight..

B: [Speechless, expressionless, just plain shocked.]

J: [Stares at her for a moment] I'll pick you up at 8 sharp, so be ready. [Taps her knee with his hand] Bye!

Jai leaves.

B: [To herself] What was that?! Is he really taking me out? I don't think that's the Jai I know..

J: That'll lighten up her mood...
