Actor Rohit Roy talks about donning the host's hat in Jhalak Dikhla Jaa, brother Ronit Roy and films in a chat with with Anil Merani.

What made you accept Jhalak Dikhla Jaa?

It's all about song and dance and I love both. I'm looking forward to bringing a lot of fun and entertainment to the show.

What's your equation with your cohost Mona Singh?
I know there was a lot of speculation over whether we'd click, but we do. She's a very vivacious and warm girl.

Will there be the usual problem of one host getting more lines than the other?
I doubt it. Jhalak.. depends more on our vibes than what we say. The script will always be improvised and worked on. Lastly, neither of us is interested in hogging the limelight.

You were a participant in Nach Baliye earlier. Would you rather dance with your wife or with a trained choreographer?
Personally, I'd prefer a trained person, because that will help improve my performance. The format of Jhalak is dancing with the stars. Most of the celebs may not be good dancers now, but give them some time with the pros, and I'm sure they will rock.

Most reality shows are accused of staging controversies to grab TRPs. Your take?
I don't agree. Controversies are not created, they just happen. It's what happened when Mansi and I lost in the first round of Nach Baliye. Nobody could believe it so a lot of drama was created.. but that doesn't mean it was fixed.

Your brother Ronit will be participating.. can you be impartial?

Ah, tough one. He is my elder brother after all. I might react negatively if the judges criticise his performance. But luckily, Ronit is such a good dancer that he doesn't need my support.

Apparently, you aren't taking up any more television shows after the success of Shootout at Lokhandwala..
That's absolutely false. I had decided to minimise my presence on television even before Shootout was released.

I believe films are a better canvas to showcase my acting skills. Also, TV is rather stressful these days. But I'm open to doing more shows like Jhalak Dikhla Jaa.

What's your take on the recent incident with Dia Mirza?
No such incident happened. It's really sad that certain writers resort to yellow journalism to sell their publications.

What was your wife's reaction?
She was very upset obviously. Luckily, she was with me during the entire Goa schedule, where the supposed incident took place. I dread to think of what would have happened if she hadn't been there. http://hindustantimes.com/StoryPage/StoryPage.aspx?id=b847cf ad-6fc9-4de2-bbcb-95d300cdb0f5&&Headline=Rohit+Roy%3 a+On+a+dance+trip
