CHAPTER 3
The car came to a screeching halt. Adarsh tried start it again a couple of times but finally gave up. He then got out of the car and looked around. There was no repair shop in sight. Suddenly he remembered that this was the same place where he met her the last time . Will she show up once again , Out of somewhere. ?
"Looking for that girl sirji? "
Adarsh turned around to find an autorickshaw driver looking at him with a knowing smile.
"What are you saying? Which girl?
How could he read his mind? Adarsh wondered
"Arre sirji, that chikni chameli for whom you threatened me the other day. Anyone could tell that you have fallen flat over her.
I know where you can find her. Come on. Get into my auto. "
Adarsh remembered that this was the same auto driver whose license he threatened to cancel when he was asking for an exorbitant fare from the girl.
"How come you know where she stays? Have you been stalking her? How dare you..? "
"Calm down Sirji. I am an honorable man. Just because I drive an autorickshaw doesn't mean I go around stalking random girls. I know it simply because she travels regularly in my route. Now what are you thinking. Hop in. "
Adarsh called up his office driver and asked him to take his car for repair. As he got into the auto his mind was still in a dilemma. Was he doing the right thing by pursuing an unknown girl like that. Isn't it akin to stalking.? He still wasn't sure if it was actually love or just a temporary infatuation which would go away with time. But damn it's not going away.!! He just can't get her out of his head. OMG !! He was sounding like an obsessed lover. No Adarsh Sinha, this is not the right thing to do. You have to get down and go back right now !!! Just as he was about to tell the driver , the auto stopped.
"Here it is sirji. Your destination. She takes the auto from here everyday."
" How much was the fare? "
Nothing sirji . It was my job to take you to your love . Now when you get bhabhi home, just see to it that my license becomes permanent "
This man is the limit !!! He doesn't even know her name and he is already referring to her as "bhabhi". And look how he is manipulating him.
"I am going to do no such thing. Just take this 500 bucks and get going, else you won't be seen running your auto from tomorrow "
The man went away smiling. Adarsh knew he had ended up paying him much more than what he prevented him from getting from the girl. Huff!! ...this affair is going to cost him dear
You... Yes I am talking to you. Why are you stalking me?
Adarsh turned around to find his dream girl staring at him with those mesmerising doe eyes but wait... Was she accusing him of stalking her??
"Listen mam... I didn't have any wish to stalk you. It was just...
Adarsh was about to present his case but she interrupted him.
"look... I have noticed you during Shraddha's wedding too. Your eyes were following me like a puppy follows his master "
"I am a puppy who is lost in your love " Adarsh thought of saying. But no, that would sound typical cheap roadside Romeo types.
"See... I didn't mean to scare you.. "
"Scare..?. Who said I was scared. I know how to deal with you guys. I had my doubts when you helped me with that auto driver. Now I'm sure. Just wait here, I am gonna call the police. "
"Listen to me first. Its true that I was attracted to you but I can never think of stalking someone. I am an honorable person. I work in the bureaucracy... "
Adarsh was surprised that he was repeating the auto driver's words.
" Oh well, so bureaucrats land directly from heaven on earth..they are free from all human follies. Is it? If you were attracted to me you could have approached me like a gentleman, through Shradhha ."
Yes, he could have done that. Why didn't it occur to him before. Mom was right. He is really immature!! Adarsh cursed himself. Now how does he remedy the situation?
"I know I could have done that. I am really sorry . It was just that stupid auto driver... "
She : What auto driver?
Adarsh : "Nothing. Look what is done can't be undone, I promise I won't repeat it again. But you can talk to Shradhha. We are family friends. They know me very well. She will tell you I am not what you are thinking me to be. And if you are satisfied, we can go for a cup of coffee. Here is my card. "
" Why should I talk to Shraddha.. I am not interested in... "
Before she could finish, the guy was gone. Swadheenta looked at the card. So he is indeed an IAS officer. And she must say, a handsome one too. The way he apologized looked genuine. Guess she should talk to Shraddha .
