You read right about Ashok's wives. The show is not actually following history. In the show kaurwaki and Ashok are childhood friends. They love each other and get separated. Kaurwaki is shown as princess of Kalinga when she is actually a fisherman's daughter. Now Devi is also helping to reunite them 😃
but Ashok and Devi will get married in the end.

hey forget about this show this show s nowhere near to history,apparently kwk s no princess she s Fisher woman whom he married when he was in early forties I think.about devi ashok they had a beautiful love story, devi s daughter of wealthy merchant daughter who follws Buddhism she s apparently matchless beauty on whom ashok fell in love at first sight,that time ashok s cunning and cruel prince whom people used to fear,he tried to kill an animal one day whom devi saved and talked to him with out any fear,he asked hand on marriage to her father,her father agreed but she rejected saying two reasons one s he s different cast another one s she dnt want to marry a cruel prince,he kept quite and let to ujjain,on coming back from ujjain he gets attacked and gets hurt ,knowing this devi nurses him that time she gets to know the real heart of this cruel prince and agrees to marry him.none r happy about their marriage because of her cast ,but ashok loved her so much .devi s very kind woman always used to help people and used to nurse buddhist monks,she apparently had most influence on ashok following Buddhism later, ashok remained mono gamy for 18 years,it's after devi left him he went on married so many times.they had two children one s mahendra and sanghamitra.both r very famous in lanka,it's mahendra with the help of his sister spread the Buddhism in lanka.on birth of mahendra astrologer predicts he ll won the land in overseas that s lanka which was difficult in those times,after hearing this bindusar change s his attitude towards devi,sushim in rage tries to kill pregnant devi whom dharma saves,but dharma dies that Time.ashok names mahendra conquer of the world,he loves him so much,he wanted him to succeed but mahendra refuses and went to lanka to spread Buddhism.samghamitra s very dearer to him out of all he gt her married to ashoks nephew agnibrahm and thry stayed with him in palace.apparently his daughter asks him a question after wat father u killed so many,can u revive atleat one,this question of hers stirred him insides,he wasn't even ready to send her to lanka but devi made him agree.about devi devi some says she and asandhi r same some says nt it's debate nothing proved yet.sanchi stupa was constructed in sanchi which s devi s birth place,it's she who over looked on sanchi stupa construction,ashok even built a mahavihar for her.she constructed so many hospital s that time.she left ashok when his blood thirst increased and made sure her children didn't follow any violence,ashok send a word to her to come back but she didn't, Angry ashok marrries so many times after that.it's after knowing he changed she goes back to him and live s with him.she s very important in ashok life unlike how they r showing in show.Originally posted by: _Ecstasy_

Yes,Devi was extremely important in Ashoka's life.But its not that Karuvaki was not important.Karuvaki was his second wife and the only wife to have an edict in her name.Originally posted by: _Ecstasy_

I really loved devi's character as u explained.so she is the main heroine of the show but why are they glorifying kaurwaki's character?? Her flirting scenes are unbearable to watch🤢

Even Asandhimitra,his fourth wife,was very much important.She was the one to hold the title of Agramahishi or Empress.And she was an important partner in all his endeavours.We have to see it from this angle.Ashoka was a polygamist.And it is natural that he loved more than one woman.This whole concept of one true,eternal love is really unrealistic.All his wives were important to him and all of them have played an important role in his life.He certainly did have a favourite wife.Many accounts mention Asandhimitra as his favourite wife.Now when we come to CAS,the DVs are promoting Ashok-KVK as the star crossed eternal lovers like Romeo-Juliet,etc which is utter nonsense.And the characterization of KVK is not even 0.0001% accurate.The historical KVK was completely different from this CAS KVK.
