Siddhartha to experience the Four Sights' in Zee TV's Buddha

Zee TV's Buddha has been airing the very spiritual tale of Gautam Buddha and in the upcoming episodes Siddhartha (Himanshu Soni) will encounter the four examples of human suffering and pain when he will visit the Kali basti. These encounters are referred to as, "The Four Sights."

What are these sights?

The First Sight - He will come upon a rather decrepit, old man. Siddhartha will be shocked at this site as though he looks like a man, his hair would be white, with no teeth, skin will be wrinkled, and his back would be so bent that he will lean on a stick to stay firm. This vision will deeply upset him. In fact, that night Siddhartha will have sleepless night, he will also have immense internal pain and will be dissatisfied with life as he would have never seen something like this before.

The Second Sight - The next day, again, Siddhartha will set out with Channa (Sanket Choukse), towards the Kali basti and this time they will come upon a man who would be sick and covered with sores, his mouth will be foamed and his eyes bloodshot. Once again, Siddhartha will question Channa, who will explain that the man is sick and that everyone can become diseased or sick at any time. Siddhartha will yet again be disturbed to find this fact. That night too Siddhartha will get restless and sit under the tree where he normally sits to meditate.

The Third Sight - On the next trip third day, Siddhartha will notice a funeral procession. He will witness a body lay still and lifeless for the first time ever. He will hear the mourners, weeping and wailing, as if they too are suffering. This is when Channa will tell Siddhartha that death is the end of life and the one who is born must sooner or later die! This fact will shaken Siddhartha completely.

The fourth day, Siddhartha will encounter a poor man/an ascetic (the Fourth Sight) who will be wandering around the countryside without a home or any material things with him. The prince will notice that this man looks peaceful and serene. He will also learn that an ascetic has to be content in whatever life gives him.

Thus, he will decide on becoming an ascetic though his wife Yashodhara (Kajal Jain) will explain him that a life of an ascetic is a difficult one, for Siddhartha it would mean life of content.

We tried contacting Himanshu but he remained unavailable for comment.

The episode will air this Sunday (29 December 2013).

This should happen after his marriage, right? In fact, even after the birth of Rahul, their kid.

Also, the third sight that Siddharth saw - a dead man - was said to be the first time he had witnessed death, right? But in the serial, they've already seen him witness Baldev die after he gave the message. So how would this be new for him now?

I don't believe that young man who is at age of 20 -25 ...his marriage is done & if he has child then he don't know what's death ?

It's not possible...They showed this & it's perfect 😊

Whatever written in history,is sometimes over rated

No, from what I recall reading, Sudhyoyana was told by an astrologer that his son would either become an emperor, or a saint. He liked the idea of the former, but not the latter, and therefore banned any uncomfortable sights from being shown to Siddharth. This plan of insulating Siddhartha from reality worked for a while, and after Rahul was born, Sudhoyana was convinced that now, Siddharth was safe from any thoughts of renunciation.

After that, a day came when Siddharth saw an old decrepit man on a cane, someone who was ill, a funeral procession and then an ascetic. His charioteer described to him what they were. After he returned, he too decided to renounce the world, but knowing how his family would take it, he cast off his royal clothes for plain ones, shaved his head and w/o bidding goodbye to anybody, left. He was never found until he voluntarily returned, not to meet anybody but to spread his message.

Vrish , i know this but think practically this possible ????

Any person who don't know why we are here & for what to do & where will we go? It's impossible that person don't know what is death ?

In show , Siddharth read whole Gitaji ...also King want to make him big warrior so he gave him high training Siddharth is great warrior & didn't he know that in war people can die ?

He often goes opposite of wars because he says believe in non violence then he knows what's death ??

Please say on this point

Did Siddhartha read the Gita and other such texts? Had he done so, he would have been less likely to have questioned the utility of yagnas, or do a lot of meditation over the answers to life. This is the first I'm hearing of it.

One thing from the above article - Siddharth left Yashodhara in the dead of night, w/o waking her up or taking leave. In fact, he even avoided kissing Rahul as that might wake Yashodhara.

So if they show Yashodhara explaining anything to him, that will be fictitious. In fact, Yashodhara was totally shaken and lived like a widow since he left. When he returned, she fell @ his feet & wept. Later, she sent Rahul, who was a teen, to him to ask for his share of property. Rahul got admitted into the Sangha.

What strikes me is that once Siddhartha had abandoned everything, why wasn't either Rahul, or Devadatta made Sudhoyana's yuvraj?
