Shaad Ali's next for Aditya Chopra
Despite the debacle of Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, Aditya Chopra has shown faith in Shaad Ali. The bearded director will now be directing his fourth film for the Yash Raj banner, titled Tevar starring Akshay Kumar in the lead role.
Our Yash Raj source reveals, "Shaad has been given one more chance by Adi post the recently released Abhishek-Preity-Bobby-Lara starrer box office dud, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom. He had presented the Yash Raj head honcho with three concepts for his next out of which Adi loved the story idea of Tevar. He has given his green signal for the project and it is scheduled to go on floors from October this year. It has been Adi's suggestion though to cast Akshay Kumar as the chief protagonist of Tevar, the plot of which is being kept under wraps. Akshay's heroine for the film has not been decided upon yet."

"There were reports that Adi was refusing to meet Shaad post the release and subsequent flopping of JBJ because he had not liked the way Shaad had handled the musical and also because no single film from the prestigious banner had received as much flak as JBJ did. But, there was nothing like that in real. Shaad was facing a crisis in personal life. He had to be present personally for the divorce proceedings with wife Shahzneen for which he had to rush to his home town Kanpur the day after JBJ released on June 15th."
Our source continues, "Adi believes in standing by his directors because he always chooses them after giving a lot of thought to various aspects. He had introduced Kunal Kohli as a director with the Hrithik, Kareena and Rani starrer Mujhse Dosti Karoge (2002) and that film had badly flopped at the box office but unfazed by its failure, Adi offered him one more chance and gave him Hum Tum (2004) to direct which turned out to be a huge success. Later Kohli also made Fanaa for Yash Raj and is now co-producing his next with them. Shaad has directed three films for Yash Raj as of now and has delivered super hits in Saathiya (2002) and Bunty Aur Babli (2005). Just one failure on his part is not something which can put off Adi. He is extremely confident about Shaad's direction abilities and is being very supportive of him right now. Also Adi is personally paying more attention to all the minute details that are going into the pre production planning of Tevar. "
Akshay Kumar who is being considered as the most reliable star in Bollywood today is presently shooting for Yash Raj's Tashan directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya (writer of Dhoom series). Tevar will be his 4th film with them. His first one was Yeh Dillagi (1994) and second one Dil To Paagal Hai (1997). A Bollywood insider has revealed to us that the title of Shaad Ali's next was suggested by Salman Khan.
