Casting directors don't have power in casting leads. They are are cast by directors, studios and/or producers (and actors are often producers who hire directors). Even for lesser roles they're there to round up choices and make suggestions but they usually don't have final call unless its just for background/crowd scenes (and then only if the director doesn't care to oversee this)

That said, this casting is ridiculous in terms of age. Actors often play younger than they are but Akshay is at least 20 years too old to play Prithviraj at his oldest. He reportedly died at 26.

Someone please stop this old man from playing 25 year old warriors, finishing the shoot in 2 months and ruining a mega grand scale movie like this.

And this 🤣 he couldn't be bothered to shoot war scenes so they had to put his face on someone else's body

Production value seems quite cheap.

Casting is bad because Akki just doesn't suit, and most importantly doesn't have an epic BGM.

As shit as Bhansali is as a story teller, his movies are just straight up gorgeous and give a grand feel, which is generally missed in other BW historicals.

Akki does so many chichora films and roles I find it hard to understand which ones I’m supposed to take him seriously in 😒

Another magnum opus , falsifying history and glorifying the hero too much, don't think they would show how strategically Prithviraj failed after first battle, and seems they might go with being blind and killing ghori myth as ending.

Why does YRF need to wander into historicals? Please leave that to AG and SLB. As much as their historicals may sometimes seem inconsistent, at least they put effort into it. This is such a bad version of Prithviraj that even Arjun Kapoor's Panipat seems like a masterpiece next to this suddenly (and I've only seen it's trailer).
