I don't even want him to be good technically, but the guy doesn't 'play' with his voice.. I need to feel like someone who is alive is singing, give some expression, feel it.

Nashe si Chadd Gayi was also good... Mast magan too!

With due respect to Asha ji, I disagree with her.
But yes she can have her opinion like everybody.
For me Arijit has to be THE singer to have that emotional connect with the masses in a long long time.
Yes he does have his limitations. But he has sung some peppy songs too (Palat, Dilliwali GF, Nashe Si Chadh Gayi etc)
Him sounding monotonous has to do with the fact that every second song nowadays is in his voice. Even I get annoyed by that sometimes.
But he's far from being a bad singer.

Gahh! In the current lot, i think he is one dude who actually has pretty big variety of songs.. Unlike an Armaan Malik or Mohd Irfan.. Comparing Sonu or Udit is a waste cos the music back in those days required different things. U cant do another Kal Ho Na Ho music, not because its not possible but cos fewer Music directors want such music for their films.

A good example was, Papon. He has a very heavy voice (aka monotonous if u would classify as such) - sings similar types of songs . At least the ones i love. Yet i find the connect in his soulful singing..

All singers become monotonous after a point of time, including Asha Bhonsle. They all might sing different types of songs but it will only take seconds to recognize the voice of the singer, let it be her, sonu nigam or arijit singh.

To find a singer who can change voice and not be monotonous, we either would need a time machine or pray to god that we somehow get another genius like Kishore Kumar in this lifetime.

In high pitch notes his voice becomes so coarse.. 😵 It makes me cringe...

Every singer has his own style.. he is suited for some, not for every other damn song... Bollywood needs to stop making someone flavour of the season and then repeating it over nd over again till they find the next one..
