Chapter 2

Jagdamba Nivas
All were having the dinner and Dolly was serving them when nani speaks.
Nani- Panna ji hume aapse kuch baat karni hai.
Dolly goes into the kitchen as she is not allowed to interfere in any family matter.
Nana- Haan kaho.
Nani- Wo hum soch rahe the ki ab Dolly 21 ki hone wali hai aur uski padhai bhi puri ho jayegi iss saal..
Nana- Hmm..toh?
Nani- Toh kyu nahi uska rishta dhundna shuru karde?
Nana- Par Jagdambe abhi wo padh rahi hai aur itni jaldi kya hai shaadi ki?
Nani- Haan toh hum kaunsa kal hi shaadi karwa rahe hain..acha rishta dhundne mei bhi toh samay lagta hai..aur tab tak uski padhai bhi puri ho jayegi.
Nana- Bol toh tum thik rahi ho..
Nani- Thik hai phir hum panditji se baat karte hain.
Nana- Hmm..
Dolly was listening to all this from the kitchen. She gets shocked on hearing sudden marriage talk but holds herself as she sees them going in their rooms after having their dinner.
She quickly cleans the dining area..washes the vessels and goes back to her room without having her food.
On entering her room, she sits on her small study table and takes out her companion her diary which knows every small secret of her life. It contains all her painful and happy moments, her complaints, miseries, experiences everything.
She takes out her pen and started writing. After writing, she goes and stands near the window staring the open sky and stars searching her parents in them.
Dolly- Mamma-Papa..aap kyu hume chodkar chale gaye? Hume aapki bahot yaad aa rahi hai..please humare pass wapas aa jaiye..hum promise karte hain ki hum aapse kuch nahi maangenge, kisi chize ke liye zidd nahi karenge..please wapas aa jaiye..and sobs silently.
Thats when she feels a familiar hand caressing her head. She immediately wipes her tears and turns towards him giving a small fade smile.
Dolly- Nana ji..
Nana- Apne mamma-papa ki yaad aa rahi hain?
Dolly- Nahi..nahi..wo hume neend nahi aa rahi thi toh hum yuhin bahar dekh rahe the..waise aap yahan itni late?
Nana ji feels bad that how much she is suppressing her feelings inside her only..not telling even to him also.
Nana- Hmm..ab tum toh apna khayal rakhti nahi ho toh hume hi rakhna padega na.
Dolly knots her brows and Nana ji takes the food plate placed on the side table.
Dolly- Wo..wo hume bhook nahi lag rahi thi isliye.
Nana- Koi baat nahi thoda sa khalo..khaali pet nahi sote hain.
Dolly- Ji..
She eats a little not to disappoint him. She stands to keep it back in kitchen but stops hearing him question.
Nana- Mujhe pata hai ki tumne shaadi wali baat sunli hai.
She turns and stares him and he continues.
Nana- Mujhe ye bhi pata hai ki tum abhi shaadi ke liye tayyar nahi ho.
Dolly- Phir aapne nani ko roka kyu nahi?
Nana- Pehle maine bhi yahi socha par phir tumhara khayal aaya ki jo khushiya tumhe yahan nahi milti shayad wahan mil jaaye..shayad isi mei tumhari kuch bhalai chhupi ho? shayad tumhare mamma-papa ki kami puri karne koi aa raha ho?..saying so he leaves to his room and sleeps.
She too goes and keeps her plate in kitchen and comes back to her room and lays on her bed still pondering on Nana ji's words..thinking when sleep took over her she also don't know.

Next day
Dolly wakes up first, prepares breakfast for all and leaves for her college.
In noon, nani also goes to see a pandit regarding Dolly's marriage.
Nani- Namaste Pandit ji.
Pandit- Arey Jagdamba ji namaste..aaiye-aaiye baithiye..bataiye kaise aana hua?
Nani- Wo pandit ji hum apni naatin ke vivah ke silsile mei aaye hain.
Pandit- Oh acha..Dolly bitiya ke liye?
Jagdamba- Ji.
Pandit- Theek hai..aap kundli de jaiye..jaise hi koi acha rishta milta hai..mai aapko bata dunga.
Nani- Thik hai dhanyawaad pandit ji.
She stands to leave thats when her eyes fall on Dolly who was also going by smiling at a joke cracked by Lolly.
She gets angry on again seeing her with Lolly buts composes herself and goes back home to interrogate her at home.
Dolly doesn't notice her as she was lost in some thoughts.
On reaching home, Nani bursts on her.
Nani- Dolly..ghaat par kya kar rahi thi tum.
Dolly gets confused as how she gets to know about it.
Dolly- Ji..wo nani hum ghar hi aa rahe the..ghaat se raasta chhota padta hai na isliye.
Nani- Hume mat sikhao ki kahan se raasta chhota aur kahan se bada padta hai..humne dekha ki kaise tum uss Lolly ke saath khilkhila rahi thi.
Dolly- Nahi nani..wo toh bas yuhin..
Nani- Bas yuhin kya..Lolly kya kar rahi thi tumhare saath?
Dolly- Ji..wo nani..
Nani- Jawab do..
Dolly- Wo nani..Lolly ka ghar pass mei hai na isliye hum uske saath hi aate hain.
Nani was about to say something when Krishna enters and asks for food.
Nani- Jao..jakar khana lagao..aur suno uss Lolly se zara dur raha karo.
Dolly just shakes her head and goes to her room to place her bag and get changed and then serves them the lunch.

Delhi
Chintu was working in his cabin when Ketaki enters like a storm.
Chintu- Oye..tu humesha aise hi kyu aati hai mere cabin mei tsunami ki tarah?
Ketaki- Kya bhai..aap toh bas mujhe naam hi dete rehte ho.
Chintu- Toh aur kya karu? Acha ye sab chhod ye bata ki aaj yahan kaise aai madam ki sawari?
Ketaki- Wo bhai mujhe aapke sign chahiye ispar.
Chintu- Kya hai ye?
Ketaki- College trip hai Mathura ki..mujhe bhi jaana hai isliye aapke sign chahiye consent letter par.
Chintu- Kyaa?? Itni thand mei? Kahin nahi ja rahi tum..chup-chap ghar jao.
Ketaki- Bhai..ye kya baat hui..mujhe jaana hai toh matlab jaana hai..
Chintu- Ek baar mei meri koi baat samajh nahi aati na?
Ketaki- Par isme burai kya hai? Kyu nahi ja sakti mai?
Chintu- Maine kaha hai isliye.
Ketaki- Aapne kaha hai toh kya patthar ki lakeer ho gai? Mujhe kuch nahi pata mujhe jaana hai jaana hai toh bas jaana hai..
Chintu- Bahot ziddi hoti ja rahi ho tum.
Ketaki- Aap hi ki behen hoon.
Chintu- Mai kab zidd karta hoon?
Ketaki- Kar toh rahe ho abhi bhi.
Chintu- Shut up aur ghar jao chup-chap..saying this he tears the letter.
Ketaki- Katti katti katti..and she leaves to home.
Chintu realises his mistake and goes after her to home making a quick call to someone. On reaching home, she locks herself in her room.
Chintu- Ketu i m sorry..beta darwaza khol.
Ketaki- Nahi..no sorry accepted..ghar aa gai na mai ab kya chahiye aapko?
Chintu- Ghar aane ke liye kaha tha..room mei lock hone ke liye nahi..darwaza khol.
Ketaki- Nahi nahi nahi.
Chintu- Aaj kya sirf nahi bolne ka vrat liya hai..khol darwaza.
Ketaki- Haan liya hai..aap jao yahan se.
Chintu- Last baari puchh raha hoon kholegi ya nahi?
Ketaki- Nahi nahi nahi.
Chintu- Thik hai phir.
Chintu stands there tapping his foot like he is going and hearing them Ketaki opens the door only to be shocked while Chintu smirk.
Ketaki- Aapne mujhe budhu banaya?
Chintu- Budhu ko budhu banane ki zarurat nahi hai.
Ketaki- Ab aap mujhe budhu bol rahe ho..jao aap yahan se mujhe nahi baat karni aapse.
Meanwhile a servant comes and handovers a envelope to him.
Chintu- Thik hai ye dekh le phir apna decision le.
Ketaki- Kya hai ye?
Chintu- Khol kar dekhne ka kasht karo madam.
Ketaki takes the envelope, opens it and sees two tickets to Mathura.
Ketaki- Bhai..ye toh..
Chintu- Mathura ki tickets hain.
Ketaki- Ohh bhai..i love u love u so much..saying this she hugs him..lekin 2 tickets?
Chintu- Ek teri aur ek meri.
Ketaki- Matlab sirf hum dono ja rahe hain?
Chintu- Hmm..
Ketaki- Par mujhe apne friends ke saath jaana tha.
Chintu- Sorry dear..friends ke saath toh mai nahi bhej sakta par mai tumhare saath chal sakta hoon..aur hum khoob enjoy karenge na.
Ketaki- Okk..
Chintu- Toh katti cancel?
Ketaki- Katti cancel par mai abhi bhi naraz hoon.
Chintu- Ab uss narazgi ko kaise dur karun?
Ketaki- Wo mai phir kabhi batati hoon..filhaal aap mujhe gol-gappe khilane le chalo.
Chintu- Jo hukum meri aaka.
Both giggles and then goes to have chaat.
