War2: Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR movie falls 75% to Rs 6 crores; will Pathaan 2 be shelved?

War2 has been one of the biggest disasters for YRF. The movie mounted on a huge budget has crashed on its first Monday. It seems the fall is bigger than one for Prabhas’ Adipurush, which was also panned all over India. The disastrous results of War2 reminds us of Thugs Of Hindostan that also made Rs 6 crore on its first Monday. It seems shows are being cancelled in multiplexes due to poor audience turn out. Those who have seen the movie have called out the shoddy VFX, excessive use of green screen and weak writing. Many said it just felt like a set of action pieces joint together.

Thugs of Hindostan had opened with a staggering Rs 55 crores but flopped after unanimous negative reviews on day one. War2 managed to make Rs 125 crores by end of first weekend. The big clash of the Independence Day weekend was between Coolie and War2. Even Rajinikanth’s Coolie has not performed excellently in Tamil Nadu but is doing well overseas. It has crossed the Rs 200 crore mark. Coolie has fared way better than War 2 on its first Monday. The dubbed Telugu version of War 2 has also not attracted any crowds as fans prefer to watch the Hindi version only.

The YRF Spy Universe was a real hot property after the success of Pathaan. Movies like Pathaan 2, Pathaan Vs Tiger and Alpha were planned. We know that Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh’s Alpha is this December. It seems the box office performance of that movie will determine the future. Fans of Shah Rukh Khan are wondering if Pathaan 2 will indeed get made in this scenario. Pathaan was a huge money-spinner for the production house. There are many who want a face-off between Kabir and Jim. We guess we need to wait till the box office outcome of Alpha.
