War 2 and Coolie were supposed to make the Independence Day weekend a crackling one for the Indian box office but that prediction did not come true. Aditya Chopra mounted War 2 on a big scale shooting in exotic foreign locations and roping in foreign technicians. The budget of the movie is supposed to be around Rs 400 crores. This makes it one of the most expensive Bollywood movies ever. Everyone has been talking about the kind of losses YRF will incur due to the failure of War 2. Some of the figures being thrown around are quite shocking. The production house was on a roll after the successes of Pathaan and Saiyaara.
The statement that the debacle of War 2 has wiped out the profits of Saiyaara is all over social media. As per a report in Film Information, YRF has made a profit of Rs 300 crores from Saiyaara. The Mohit Suri directorial was made on a budget of Rs 30 – 40 crores. It has crossed the Rs 500 crore mark worldwide. YRF made a clean profit of Rs 300 crores from Saiyaara. It seems War 2’s losses will be around Rs 60 – 70 crores at the most. This makes it impossible for them to have such huge losses as it is being speculated.
Saiyaara made Rs 350 crores (nett) from domestic collection and maybe even a little more. The movie is still doing good numbers on weekends. It is also a huge money spinner overseas making USD 20 million. It made around Rs 145 crores abroad overtaking Empuraan. This made it the highest grossing Indian movie overseas of 2025. The music album is also a banger and will fetch YRF around Rs 100 crores as per report in Film Information.
War 2 is a total wash-out in the Telugu states where the dubbed version tanked. It was supposed to rake in big numbers due to Jr NTR’s popularity. Saiyaara was truly the dark horse of the year surprising everyone.
A noted trade expert has shared how this idea that the box office disaster of War 2 ate up all profits of Saiyaara is not true per se. YRF made a huge profit with the Ahaan Panday, Aneet Padda film that released last month. Saiyaara made on a tight budget had a glorious run at the Indian and foreign box office.
