War 2 starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR & Kiara Advani to clash with Rajinikanth’s Coolie this Independence Day

Get ready for a massive box office dhamaka this Independence Day, as South superstar Rajinikanth’s Coolie is all set to face off with War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR. Director Lokesh Kanagaraj officially announced the release date of Coolie on Friday with a fiery poster and powerful words: “Sound-ah yethu! Deva Varraaru #Coolie worldwide from August 14th."

This announcement created a storm on social media. The reason? War 2, directed by Ayan Mukerji and part of YRF’s spy universe, had already booked the same date. Fans instantly started calling it “Salaar vs Dunki 2.0” and even labelled it “the biggest clash of the decade.”

As Rajinikanth fans celebrated the grand reveal, Hrithik and Jr NTR fans began showing their support for War 2. One user on X (formerly Twitter) cheekily wrote, “#Coolie declares War on #War2.” Another shared a WWE meme and asked, “Who’s taking the crown?” Clearly, this cinematic battle has already captured everyone’s attention.

The poster of Coolie shows Rajinikanth in a tough and raw avatar—messy hair, bleeding forehead, and a whistle in his mouth. The cast includes Nagarjuna, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, Reba Monica John, Soubin Shahir, Monisha Blessy, and Junior MGR. Music is by Anirudh Ravichander. Although directed by Lokesh, the film will not be part of his Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU), which has Kaithi, Vikram, and Leo.

On the other side, War 2 marks Jr NTR’s debut in Bollywood. It also stars Kiara Advani and is the sequel to the 2019 blockbuster War.

With powerful names from both Hindi and South industries, this August 14th is surely going to witness a box office battle like never before.
