Vinay Jain on staying away from typical saas-bahu sagas

Actor Vinay Jain has actually been on the tube for almost two decades now and even though, he has largely played character roles on the small and big screen, he has to managed to create an impact with her roles in multiple TV shows. In fact, he recently played strong roles in Ishq Subhan Allah and Ek Shringaar - Swabhimaan.

Now, he is playing another important role of Harsh Vardhan Birla in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. Talking about his characters with ETimes TV, Jain said, "On television it is quite possible that once you essay a particular character, you end up getting offered similar roles, but the challenge is to make every character look different. We all know that TV shows thrive on drama and my characters have often lent that kind of drama and entertainment to viewers. I have done varied roles in my career - Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin, Parrvarish, Remix and I have never been part of typical saas-bahu dramas in television."

He added, "It is difficult to escape getting typecast but more important is how you are able to deliver a performance that remains etched in people's minds. To be able to find a connect with viewers in an existing show and which has run for many, many years itself was a challenge."

Finally, concluding on his character in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, he said, "When Yeh Rishta was offered to me, I liked the father-son equation portrayed in the show, and since my co-actor Harshad Chopda is talented, I enjoy working with him in the show."

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai recently began its new chapter with a new cast taking over from Shivangi Joshi and Mohsin Khan.
